Anyone know what went on in the North Stand after we scored our second? Seemed to be a number of Pompey lads escorted out the ground and plenty of movement behind the stand by Wedt Mercia's finest? Large police presence at The Brooklands after the game too...with a couple of police vehicles turning up with their blues & twos on?
Apart from that, very good and vocal following by The Pompey faithful.
(And a decent article in the programme about John Anthony Portsmouth Football Club Westwood)

I am not sure I could handle being in a crowd with the cow bell incessantly being rung every week.

Funny how a five year old can't have a bottle of pop with the lid on it but an adult can have a hand wringing bell in open view and that's ok .
Modern football eh..

Not even West Mercia's finest these days. Most of the plod gathered before the game are from Warwickshire Police with whom West Mercia will be amalgamating very soon. I guess they are all pen pushers at Monkmoor Road Cop Shop these days. Local knowledge? You're having a giraffe!!

I can relate to that though....have you seen my 3yr old buzzing like Telford junkie on Dr Pepper? A one-man riot waiting to happen! Cow bells and a trumpet playing...large metal objects which were leg in without question by the stewards, but I've had a can if unopened Pespi taken from me when we played at the Ricoh a couple of years ago.

Not sure how a cow bell is allowed. How did they get it in? Looks like someone dropped a clanger.

It's pretty obvious that the bell or trumpet aren't gonna get chucked on the pitch

Assume the "band" from Portsmouth get permission to bring the instruments into games. Most grounds are pretty good about taking unusual items onto a ground if you call in advance
Mr Portsmouth is a odd chap. Complete nutter at a match but in real life runs a very select antiquarian book shop and is very knowledgable about history of bindings, and interesting to chat too

Why does something deemed to be dangerous only need to be thrown to be viewed as such ?

Yes, really. It's obvious surely that it might be easier to be tempted into throwing a bottle of drink than a musical instrument. Why does something deemed to be dangerous only need to be thrown to be viewed as such ? Your question doesn't really make sense but I will try to answer what I think you're asking! While a trumpet/bell could technically be thrown, the chances of someone doing so are very slim. The items are probably quite costly, it would be obvious who had thrown them and the owners are usually too busy playing said items to chuck them at someone. Therefore it makes sense to allow people to bring them into stadiums, especially as they can improve atmosphere. Bottles on the other hand have and will be used as missiles on many occasions. It may be an annoying rule but I would bet it has stopped a few incidents from occurring down the years.

I thought they made for a good atmosphere, could still hear them playing when i got to the car at Sainsbury's after the game.
