Thought Pompey were very solid and made things very difficult but showed too little up front to worry us. Great save from Leutwiler, possibly his best in a town shirt?? Collins looked tired from early on, hopefully he will get as much rest as pos between now and tues!! I still don't know who hand balled it for the pen??? Over all a pleasing performance because it was a tough tough game, and it was great when that noisy lot in the away end were shut up!! How it that dirty looking weirdo allowed to bring a bloody bell into a football ground? Always nice to quieten the away end but Pompey fans deserve credit for creating a decent atmosphere. The " dirty looking weirdo" seems anything but that judging by his interview in the programme. Quite an eye opener - never imagined he'd work in a bookshop (but appropriate really - don't judge a book by its cover)! Football needs a few characters and the bell and the drum added to the atmosphere. Very refreshing compared to the usual tired and stale "you're Welsh" and "sheepshagger" chants. Thats what I meant by can't hear our drum... Thats how it should be played but you need a decent drum first then it could work magic with the whole stand clapping and joining in (not criticising those that give it a go )

I scored a similar goal to Connor's in 1969. It was a punt upfield for our No.9 to chase, but the wind caught the ball and it sailed over the 'keepers head. As each year has passed I've become more convinced that I meant it as a shot. Perhaps the same will happen with Connor. Crikey if you still admitting it was a punt upfield now god knows what you thought it was at the time if you have convinced yourself it was a shot over time.

I stand by my description regardless of his occupation! I like a drum or trumpet at a game but that bell wants shoving somewhere dark and painful if you ask me Yes, fair play to the majority of the Pompey supporters, very good turn out and noise. Must of been a bummer of a journey back home for them with another zero points from their visit to Shropshire

In fairness Portsmouth have been ringing bells at games for well over a hundred years, so there is a tradition behind the bell ringing, which is good to see in the modern game

Why be fair to them?? It's annoying!! Not all traditions are good just because they are hundreds of years old.
Ban the bell!! ;P
(and the Crawley one!!)

Everyone raves about the atmosphere Portsmouth create, but for me it's abit of a myth. 90% of the time on Saturday it was banging a drum, ringing a bell, trumpets and whatever else they were allowed to bring into the ground. It was more of a noise then a proper atmosphere with people singing along. Admittedly they can make a good atmosphere when they get going but the majority of Saturday was just ******* boring repetitive s**te imo.

Good luck to them with their traditions. After all we have just run a successful campaign to get one of ours returned. To be fair the drum, etc., only got on my nerves while they were in the lead!!!
On another note, they were impeccable when saluting the Shropshire Heroes before kick off as befits a naval city. Well done and thanks to them for that.

The atmosphere from them at Fratton Park was about as good an atmosphere as I've heard following the Town.

Now we know the atmosphere our fans make is generally poor (home and away) so we arent in a great position to criticise other clubs but I dont buy the Pompey love in, Saturday showed they are just regular fans, good at the beginning, great when they are leading, quiet when they are losing and then get behind their team late in the game when trying to equalise. For large periods it was just drumming and bells like you said.
