3pts today or beat chelsea . You decide For me it has to be win on Tuesday . I know people say the league is your bread and butter etc, but the glory and glamour of beating chelsea and mourninho is a once in a generation opportunity .

To be honest after three consecutive wins, we may be a bit complacent today. Feel Portsmouth will shade this one. As for Tuesday we can dream but being a realist will be happy if we only lose by the odd goal. Being the 4th round the competition is getting serious now. Chelsea will be all out to win it convincingly.

No contest 3 points today.
I remember walking away from the Carlisle game in 2003 wishing Everton had thrashed us if it meant staying the league.

I'd go with 3 points today. Cup glory is nice, but our Club has to get back where it belongs more.

Tuesday without doubt. Win or lose today I think we will still be pushing for top 3 come the end of the season. Beat Chelsea on Tuesday and progress to the final 8 in a proper competition, that would be remembered by everyone, how many people will remember beating Portsmouth at home in the league in 10 years time? No contest for me, lose today and we'll still be fighting for top 3 imo.

Oh come off it, a win on Tuesday would go down in history as one of our greatest ever results. Saying that, it's not mutually exclusive in any way. Winning today doesn't preclude a win on Tuesday.

A win today , for me. It would be nice to win on Tuesday, but let's be pragmatic about things, we are not going to win the competition. A win v. Portsmouth and we are another step towards playing in a higher league next season ,against better teams in front of bigger grounds, with maybe better players in our side. No brainier for me.

Sorry, what is happening on Tuesday? First half today is all that is important to focus on as our Leader correctly identifies.

I wish I'd rephrased the question and asked which would mean more to you a win today or a win Tuesday , at least it would have stopped the predictable answers of both
No doubt there would be people who if we got to the final would prefer to win the preceding league game ! I must admit I can't understand that view at all

The problem is our home form is what’s keeping us in the top 7. While we thoroughly deserved to win last week at York, they were utter gash. So personally I’d take 3 points today thus keeping us in touch with the top 3 and hope we get on a decent run away. Also as an 11 year old I remember the promotion winning game against Exeter in 1979 more than beating Malcolm Allison’s Man City that same season.

Got to be Tuesday would / could be worth millions literally... look how Bradford have pushed on since their spectacular cup run Bradford earned about a million quid for their Wembley final. Of course if they had won they would have got some extra for entering the Europa League. Whether that is "millions" I'm not sure.

Yes but you've got to compare beating City with the preceding home game that year not the final game that saw us clinch the title and I'm pretty sure at the time the City win was better than the fairly meaningless (at the time) home game... well it was for me
Put it another way, we beat Portsmouth, loose to Chelsea but still miss out on promotion, which would then be the more memorable game in 35 years?

3 points today and a creditable performance on tuesday. keep practicing penalties town, just in case. We are on a roll, MM predicts 2-0 against Pompey, AJ goes 1-0 . we beat Bury 5-0, Bury beat Pompey 3-0. Pompey GD 0 town GD +11
if we score against Chelsea, that may be more than Man U do. Floreat Salopia!

Got to be A win today.
Tuesday is a novelty and in some respects I'm keen to get it over with. Delighted that the game has not hindered the players in any way. Doing the business in the league is a priority but good form can overspill into the cup and this run could see us significantly cut our financial losses for this season.

Win on Tuesday. Once in a lifetime to beat a team top of England, would have a positive impact on the club's finances too.

If I had the choice of just one win I would choose today's match. My hopes for Tuesday are that we don't get humiliated with the wider world watching and that the biggest crowd ever at Greenhaus Meadow get to celebrate a goal against one of the biggest clubs in the world ( I still get goosebumps thinking about the celebrations after we the lead against Arsenal)
However, as to which one would mean more, then I'd go for Tuesday because of the historic significance of such a victory, which we would be talking about for years to come.

Yeh but they didn't only get the money from the final, what about Villa games and they're now in league 1 i.e. pushed on......... I doubt it would have made them "millions". European football might have though. The game before Man City was Colchester at home and we won 2 0 in snow. That game would have been called off now. Anyway the point I'm making and the question I'm responding to is what game would be more meaningful. Without a doubt Exeter is, just like Plymouth will be if we need to beat them for 3rd spot. Another way to look at this is that we have a very good and realistic chance of promotion. This is another reason why I prefer 3 points today. Obviously I want to win both, but that is not an option given by the OP.

Win Tuesday no doubt... A historic win..... and the extended cup run would bring more money which could help bolster the squad in January, which in turn, could help bring more than the 3 points today...

If the question was 'which game would you be more disappointed to lose' then I would guess 99% on here would say today.
If the question was 'which game would you be most delighted to win' then I would say 99% on here would say the Chelsea game.
I can live with disappointment, I watch football for the moments of delight, the moments that'll put big smiles on your face for the weeks and months ahead, the moments that'll stick in the memory for years to come.
Opportunities to play Chelsea won't come around that often, so that'll do for me.
If the question was getting promoted or beating Chelsea, then it would be getting promoted. The delight would be better, the memories similar and progress more exciting. We have time to correct any bad result against Portsmouth.

Really not that fussed about the Chelsea result. Just see those types of games a bit like a pre season game that's nice to do once in a while, and see a few star names and up coming talent in the Chelsea side, but is totally different to the bread and butter games like today's v Portsmouth.
Didn't quite realise Portsmouth are not that far behind us, thought they were lower in the league, so it's important we play well and get stuck into them right from the start like we did v Bury. Think it will be a tight game but going for 2.1 to Town

My guess: Manager will say today and might really mean it. Players will say today but probably wouldn't really mean it.
Me, I don't have to toe the professional line - A win on Tuesday would be once in a generation historic, so that. After today, we'd get other chances. But they're definitely not mutually exclusive!

How often do we get to play a top Premier league side with a win leaving us 2 rounds from a Final? A win could set us up with City, Spurs or Liverpool or a winnable MK Dons/ Sheff United Quarter Final, a semi Final next so a guaranteed home sell out + a massive away crowd ££££££ and then a £ Million from a final alone. A win today is three points and probably a top three place plus a seven point advantage over a Promotion rival. One could see us do something that we have witnessed a number of times before with a good chance of promotion. The other could disrupt us in Promotion but leave us with a s**t load of money to sustain us there when we go up.
Win on Tuesday every time!!
