Wants to leave Cheltenham. Would you want him back here ? He did strike up a very decent partnership with Collins in our promotion season but if we want to add anything to the striking department it has to be a regular goal scorer and Gornell doesn't really fall into that category.

Really liked him as a player, but no - he's a creative, hold-up player rather than a goalscorer - which, as Paul says, is what we need. Also, didn't he leave under a cloud with Jackson? Not ideal if Mellon is looking for his "right DNA", doubt he'd get a good reference from MJ.
Saw he scored twice yesterday - is that his first goals for about a year? I remember he had a painfully long barren run last season after a decent start.

Didn't everyone who left leave under a cloud with Jackson? Hmmm did hear there'sa cloud over a certain player ..... LL's your clue , but may be nothing in it, just revolving rumours regarding MJ's ability to get on with certain players which may be nothing more than a rumour

Nice to see him thanking the fans for his reception last weekend (presuming that he got a good one), sign of a bit of class that - even though he didn't get on.
Would I have him back, yes I would. I think he has got more goals in him than Vernon especially in this league.

No, we're already having a frustrating time in front of goal, lets not add to that frustration!

I can't see it ever being a 100% happy dressing room whilst Jackson is still in it. Very unpopular at the club.

I have lots of time for Gornell... but I can't see him improving our attempts/goal ratio, I have faith that the Collins/Mangan combination will bloom. As a bench player, he could be good for the squad, but I doubt if that is what he is seeking.

Just as a matter of interest an ex Town player told me that Vernon would get us 20+goals this season and that he was a hell of a player. Time will tell but to date I am not overly impressed . Collins and Mangan are the ones for me too , no doubt .

Was great for us and I thought we gave up too easily on him in League One. His confidence had completely gone! A great League 2 standard player.

Nah, he was decent when he was here but he just doesn't score enough.
Collins,Mangan,Akpa-Akpro,Grant and Vernon are all better players than him.

Akpa Akpro & Gornell have very similar goalscoring stats. Vernon had a brilliant start to his career, but has tailed of big time in terms of goalscoring.
I personally don't think there is much between the three, Akpro has missed some very easy chances in a Shrewsbury shirt, the same as Gornell did before being farmed out to Rochdale by GT. Maybe our current manager has a different mindset about his players and maybe Gornell has been unlucky to miss working with a manager who has faith in his players?

I really believe if Shrewsbury suffered an earthquake tomorrow, you would hold Mike Jackson responsible. People that I know within the club don't seem to agree with your view. As for getting on with players, I am damn sure Fergie didn't get on with all his players and more importantly he didn't give a sh•t whether they liked him or not.

Would happily swap him for either Akpa-Akpro or Vernon who are increasingly looking like they will struggle to score goals. Anyone no how long we gave them contracts for?
Like Mangan though and if he can stay fit can see him and Collins being a good partnership, but agree someone a bit different to come off the bench and nick a goal would be useful.
Not seen Grant play but am impressed Mellon gets players in quickly where weaknesses in the squad

Terrible signing so many people on permanent deals should have used the loan market to try them put.........oh wait a minute
