Very important win - two on the trot going into a big game. Is it our first away win in the league? Also interesting to note that Summerfield was unused substitute and Winfield didn't make the squad - Wilcox obviously doesn't know about our record with former players!

James Collins is still the only player to score away in the league this season....

I'll take a point at home to Bury and 3 to Pompey after today's result.

It would be preferable the other way around.

It would be preferable the other way around. Yeah that's fair, although I think a point against Bury and a victory over Portsmouth is more likely, I'd be very surprised if Bury didn't win the league, they should do.

Correct, but SB said in the league. It's obvious that we aren't in the same league as Leicester, otherwise we'd be playing Chelsea soon.

Deserved. We were better team, especially first half. Couldn't see where goal was gonna come from but we ll take it. Very defensive lineup to start but it worked. Salop!

Better team first half and dominated the second half in my opinion.
Just when it seemed our efforts were only going to yield a point due to a lack of killer instinct, we got our bit of luck with a James Collins deflection.
Did he know much about it? Was he offside? Frankly, who cares, anything less than three points today would have been a travesty.
Hopefully this can give us some extra belief going into our next away day fixture.
Grimmer looked well suited to the wing back role and Griffith also did a good job for us as a defensive midfielder.

Not sure we were quite as dominant as the match reports are making out - Leutwiler made a number of important saves - however a vitally important win on the road as a precursor to what will probably be our toughest two home matches over the next week.
I think I would prefer 4-4-2 away from home so we have more natural width. With the best of intentions 3-5-2 tends to become 5-3-2 in unfamiliar surroundings, and to get crosses in we tend to drag our best finishers out wide to deliver into an empty box.
How many Salop fans went into the bogs today and said "It's just like the old Gay Meddah?"....

We did dominate because York didn't put us any sustained pressure. They had a bit of a go in the last 5 minutes mainly because we invited them to by the ball being passed between JG, CG and NKP. This pushed us deeper.

Im getting sick of Mick Mellon, never know what teams best, what formation , more loans when you have players he wont even give a chance too............ Just when you think he needs to keep a consistant eleven or as damn close to it from the home games and he throws a joker sgain .... if we get stuffed away from home again today its firmly at HIS door.. and if we dont ?

Then the plan is out of the window.

Can we assume the win is being placed firmly at Mr Mellon's door?

I would hope so. The loan of Grimmer does at the moment look to be a master stroke.

Just watch the highlights on You Tube and have a couple of things to say.
I know Goldson is captain, but why oh why whenever we see a sending off for the opposition does he have to be straight in the Ref's face almost screaming for a red card. I hate it, it has crept into football over a few years now and I think they should be booked if they do it.
Anyway moan over, well done to the boys for not giving up yesterday, Jimmy has once again cemented himself as my favourite Town player as he did during his first spell with the club. They say never go back, but I am so glad JC came back!!!

I saw myself doing a 'little mental' on the FL show after the goal... haven't seen myself doing that for a while!

Fantastic day out in York and you really cannot beat a terrace mental for a late winner. Fair play to their keeper, Ingham, for his very sporting applause of us at the end of the game after the incessant heckling we gave him throughout the second half.

I think the few beers before the game added to the 'over exuberant' celebrations Evo owd mon mind you there's no better feeling than scoring a late winner away from home!

On MOTD Sunday they said about Swanseas pen that none of their players appealed , well you shouldn't have to appeal for things but sometimes you have to surround the ref to get your decisions . Over the last couple of seasons I have been critical of us being a pushover, so I'm glad to see this.

Over the last couple of seasons I have been critical of us being a pushover, so I'm glad to see this. I had similar views at the beginning of the season, I felt it was nice to see us backing up our players and also being a bit street-wise compared to recent years when there has been as much apathy on the pitch as off it. But I must admit that it is a bit embarrasing seeing our players surround the ref demanding players be booked or sent off, something we all are critical of when it comes to players in the premier league and abroad.
