I wonder how Uefa will sort this one out? Just seen the report of this game on TV, this was one stunt that went so badly wrong. It's been reported by Serbian state television that Olsi Rama, the brother of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, was arrested in the V.I.P Box for instigating the flag stunt. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29604464

On bit showed on Sky wondered why it was called off. When you see that it is a no brainer.
Surprise is they were allowed to be drawn in same group.

Sadly, always potential for trouble between Albania and Serbia, A lot of ill feeling between ethnic Albanian kosovans which made up 90% of population and powerful Serbian minority in government in Kosovo in late 1980's that ultimately laid foundations for breakup of the former Yogoslavia. Unfortunately, Serb nationalism, which was a significant factor in the vortex for the war in the Balkans now manifests itself in the football culture of many serbs.

Slightly less dangerous than what the two countries were doing to each other in 1914. Progress of sorts.

And amid all that there's a giant duck/canary/whatever mascot. Totally bizarre.

Just hope this "stunt" (for want of a better word) is not copied by some idiots in the future.

I wonder how Uefa will sort this one out? I would guess in a hugely ineffective manner if their previous rulings are anything to judge by. Pretty desperate scenes and I am sure there is history and culpability on both sides here but Serbia ( and their fans) are becoming a nettle that needs grasping by the footballing authorities.

I understand that UEFA can fix things so that certain fixtures don't come about. For example Spain and Gibraltar won't find themselves playing each other any time soon. So I'm slightly puzzled as to why this fixture was allowed to be pulled out of the hat.
Shame though. I mean it was a pretty stupid and irresponsible thing to to do but from looking to that clip the first reaction of the Albania players was to get the flag and get it off the pitch as soon as possible. I gather so they could get on with things. Only for some reason some Serbian player thought he needed to get involved and some Serbian fan comes on and swings a chair at em. If they would have let those two Albania lads simply take the flag to the dug out and put it out of sight...
I've read one or two comments that the Albanians were keen for all this to happen. As in to get the match abandoned. Having watched that its clearly a load of b******s. They were keen to get the flag off the pitch ASAP and get on with the game. And then who can blame them for not reappearing when they were pelted and attacked leaving the pitch.
Both sides to blame then. As to what they'll do, who knows. But first thing is to put this on the list of fixtures that are to be avoided. Then I guess a replay at some neutral venue behind closed doors.

Presumably there is the 2nd leg still to come as well - should be one to look forward to

Like they have dealt with Italians !!!!! No, not at all like they have dealt with Italian fascist supporters, that's kinda the point of my comment. However, with Serbia there appears at least to be some sort of complicit behaviour from the footballing authorities of that country. Continuing behaviour of this kind, and the England U21 game and the treatement of Tottenham supporters brings the whole European game in to disrepute and strong and effective governance is requried. exactly the sort that we will not get from EUFA

In Italy yes you have name printed on ticket and have to produce ID and searches take place entering the ground. Except of course if you are an ultra then none of the above seems to apply
