Not surprised that Wildig has not been snapped up as quickly as McAllister. Why he is held in so much esteem on this site baffles me. As an old fogey fan, I must have dozed off when he displayed all these legendary, magical footballing skills whilst playing for the Town.

It never baffles me that sometimes fans have opposing views on certain players, particularly central midfielders. But yes ,the level of reverence afforded to him on here does surprise me. We're definitely in a small minority but it seems Mellon is also not yet a paid up member of the Wildig is Wonderful fan club. Aaron seems like a decent lad so hopefully he'll get a loan and some games which will help to get his career back on track.

The only thing McAllister is going to learn at Stevenage is how to feign injury and generally cheat.

Game of opinions Paul - some people even rated ten grand Tolley, hopefully you weren't one of them.

It's funny how once in a while a Town player will really polarise views from amongst supporters. Personally from what I have seen of Wildig I think he could be a key part of our season, if that proves to be the case then only time will tell.

These debates become polarised because one side's opinions in the discussion tend to be exaggerated by the other.
Thus my opinion that Wildig is a talented young player who might contribute a lot to the team this season apparently makes me a member of the "Wildig is Wonderful fan club".
That's generally the point at which the debate's descended into one not worth continuing.

Agree entirely but a shame you quoted a post from my side when you're "You and your anti-Wildig agenda" comment would have been a perfect example of what you're trying to say.

Think that was my point Mark... in his early days I certainly did rate Tolley, a player not unlike Wildig IMO. But my generous assessments of central midfielders stopped when Dunfield arrived

if he is as good as half/most of you b&a idiots claim he is. So what is it to be..... half B&A members are idiots or most of us are idiots....make your mind up, and be concise please, if you are not an idiot Fred... I think he means half of most.... or maybe he means most of half... or if he was concise... 41.276% of us are idiots. Clearly I am one of the 41.276% because I am baffled by the way Wildig has been excluded as I see him as the link between midfield and front players that has on occasions been so frustratingly missing. And certainly I would see him as a bench player to perform that role when we seen the stats of 65% possession... but no goals! And to make matters worse, I prefer Macca to Griff... at least he represents greater odds that we will finish the match with 11 men.

Yes Paul, I must be in the 41.276% because I loved Tolley when he first burst into the side.

Macca and Wildig would be a pretty decent CM partnership at this level. Macca in his pomp when he first came on loan was pivotal in our promotion push. I'm hoping that Weso can have the same impact in the same role. He's looked imperious so far. Just need to get the balance in this vital area.
MM showed he can make the tweaks to CM last week to get the results we need. Proof that he still not be 100% sure about what combination works best in the middle of the pitch.

I think a lot of us quite like him at the start, then Dave Edwards snuck in under the radar, did quite well and then suddenly left us to go to Luton

Football's full of surprises but it would be an enormous surprise to me if both of them ever line up together again in our team, especially if MM has found the DVD of the Oldham JPT game last season

Woods, Wildig and McAllister are more than capable at this level. Weso and Lawrence are more than we could have hoped for, but will of course come at a cost. That high price can only be assessed at the end of the season. Our significant financial losses won't sit well against a failed L2 promotion attempt. Personally I pinned our defensive collapse vs Oldham in the JPT down to the loss of our captain early on and the devastating SS (Sid Schmeltz).

That would be a fair point, except that I'm pretty sure there was a or a after my comment and it was a joke directed to you personally, not a general dismissal. But that's always the problem with messageboards (and emails) - the tone in which a comment is made isn't always picked up by the reader, which is why these daft emoticons can be useful. We're civilised chaps, Paul, we can have a good verbal scrap and shake hands (metaphorically).

I must have been wrong about Tolley seeing he went on to play intermittently for two of the biggest clubs in the league - Wrexham and Macclesfield.

;)How Tremendous Tolley ( we can all use extravagant descriptive language to good effect) ever became a pro footballer I will never know. We can also trawl back through archives to highlight poor performances, but I think that the more astute town fan finds it rather odd that a player of Wildigs ability is constantly overlooked for lesser players. Weso out, Lawrence injured( again) and still Wildig gets overlooked, even not deemed good enough for the bench. Oh well, in Marvellous Mickey we trust.

good day for Dave Mac. Played the full 90 minutes in a 2-1 win for Stevenage..that makes it a good run out that can only benefit the player and our club should he return fitter and can be used in the squad if needed,
