Nigel Worthington has resigned as Manager. Could make Sat a whole lot harder with new manager syndrome and all that.

This is a blow. Clubs tend to bounce back after manager leaves. Just our flipping luck to meet York this week.

Just adds spice to the encounter.
Really looking forward to a weekend in York. Hopefully we will have a decent folowing and it's a terrace which always adds novelty value

How many does the terrace hold? I`ve not bought a ticket but assume I`ll be ok.....
I`m looking forward to visiting the York Tap and Pivni.

Although I was last there in 2002, a dreary away game for us. I think we lost 2-1.

Really looking forward to this, 11 of us coming up on the train for a day out in the public houses of York - hopefully with a Town win to make it a great day.

Pompey brought 1000 and there was still plenty of space behind the goal. There are 300 seats also, and you can pay an extra quid to go in there from the terraces if you want.

From what I saw on Saturday in the second half, town should be able to handle York city. to quote a song from the late Adge Cutler and the Wurzels "We'll knock the milk churns over and roll them in the clover, for the corn's half cut and so be we. drink up thee cider" etc.! coyb, breath on 'em Town, Floreat Salopia!

From Football Grounds website www.footballgroundguide.com/york_city/index.htmThere is a supporters club called the Pitchside Bar, which is situated on one corner of the ground, that overlooks the away end. When I went they were quite happy to allow away supporters in and there was some pleasant banter going on between both sets of fans. The Club serves up to four real ales (normally from local micro breweries) and also has Sky Sports television. Otherwise the nearest pub is the Burton Stone Inn which you should see on the A19 as you near the ground; popular with away fans

Three happy years spent in York as a student. Definitely a away day it's worth thinking of an over night trip for, or at the very least get there early as the city centre pubs are the best. Also worth having a Fat Rascal at Betty's Tea shop!
Not been there for a while but Trafalgar Bay on Nunnery Lane had some lovely Samuel Smith ales on tap when I used to visit it

Other pubs with Real Ale are Maltings, left out of the station under the City walls on yer right, three legged mare (York Brewery Pub) and The hole in the wall near the Minster. (High Petergate).

Hoping to stand on all the terraces before they disappear from the Football League altogether so making the trip across the Pennines from Liverpool to this one. Bringing along three mates, one of whom has never been to a football match in his life (doesn't know what he's got himself in for!) Getting into York at 13:36 so time for a swift couple pre-match - is the York Tap where most Salopians will be heading?

York is one of those grounds that circumstances have conspired against me and I have never managed to get to, so looking forward to it and making a weekend of it.
Reading that link to the football grounds guide that ipswichshrew posted above, I'm intrigued to read -
The urinals are open air and are of the 'stand up against a brick wall variety'
So it sounds like if you miss the old Meddah then urine for a treat...

Kings Arms still going strong. Plug sockets at ceiling height and slate floors means once the river goes down, they hose the place down get the Sam Smiths ale plugged in and away they go. The Trafalgar Bay on Nunnery Lane still going strong also.

York Tap seems to be popular suggestion, any others worth seeking out ? Pivni is also owned by same people (they also have Sheffield Tap and Harrogate Tap). The Sheff one is strict on colours so I suspect York one will be too. Great pub though.

Out of the pubs which one is most family friendly, my 5 year old will hopefully be joining me and get to enjoy the game (if I get organised in time!)

Free parking I presume, best place is to drive down Burtonstone Lane passing the first left and right turns. Anywhere along there left or right is unrestricted parking. Avoid Double Yellow lines along with Bootham Crescent, St Olaves rd, and Grosvenor Terrace as these streets will be patrolled by the Parking Team.
