I remember when I was at secondary school, I loved the chance to spend my pocket money on programmes from Town away games in the club shop. I now go to all the away games luckily, as the club shop does not appear to have any away programmes

Didn't Man U have a shop once? I remember it well, the only time in my life that I have been tempted to commit arson.

In all honesty though does anybody see this a long term viable venture? Probably not, but it has to be worth a go, if it doesn't work then so be it. I can see tickets being available at The Music Hall or some other civic building within the town longer term. what it does do though is to raise the profile of the club, put it into the psyche and to promote it in a way we have all been crying out for for years. The only events that really raise the profile of the Club are FA cup runs and Wembley play - off finals. These are short term as is this shop. What are the long term merchandising plans?

Surely how long term this new shop turns out to be will depend on how successful it is?

I agree and as previously mentioned it would be alot more successful when the Loggerheads are back in their rightful place. Given that this shop will have limited merchandise, and it will still have clippy on, will there be any point in it being open all week? I haven't seen any opening hours posted but say open from Weds to Saturday? But still this is a very good move from the club and hopefully it will be successful.

There are numerous initiatives, football based, community based and marketing wise- that can and do give the football club a positive and improved image and profile and we should continue to explore every opportunity to do so. This new shop is just such a chance.

Surely how long term this new shop turns out to be will depend on how successful it is? Guess that also depends on whether success is defined as the shop making a profit (probably unlikely as high street locations need really high turnover) or whether its there as a loss leader to promote the club to a wider audience and make purchasing tickets easier (much more likely scenario)

Apart from the replica shirts what does the club have to sell? Just a load of cheap tat that the shop at the ground can't shift. Lets hope that the staff at the centre shop are more customer friendly than one of them at the ground.

This new shop is just such a chance. These are already in place and the feedback I get from people and groups that have no interest in football as individuals or collectively is always positive. But I'm talking about the selling of merchandise. We have a shop which is great, but most people will hardly be aware of it unless they want to buy a friendship scarf, or an inflatable FA cup after we've drawn Man Utd.

Would hope any signage will link in with new badge that we are now able to vote on.

Would it not have been better to wait until the end of the season to do this? Surely we would have been able to open in a blaze of glory with the new merchandise and new badge and hopefully a promotion and get the shop of to a flyer. As it is it's likely to be filled with stuff that most people don't actually want i.e. stuff with Lenny the feckin' logo on.
Nice idea, but imo doomed to failure.
