Wonder if you will be able to buy tickets there rather than going to the ground?

Wonder if you will be able to buy tickets there rather than going to the ground? "“It also makes it easier for many fans to pop in to buy match tickets as well as shirts and kits and it’s a really welcome addition to our retail offer here and one we’re very excited about.”" That's from the article. Great news and something that should help ticket sales a little imho.

Club gets a lot of stick on here so let's give credit where it's due. Let's hope it works out.

Initial 3 month trial.
Let's hope enough people support it to make it worthwhile long term.

Something we have been discussing in the background at the SP with the club for a while, but this is another idea straight from the Matt Williams "how to massively improve a football club" book. One of the first things he told us he would like to achieve and that's another tick in the box!
Town Center presence for the football club finally, great way to start getting a message out there. Ticket sales in the town center - Great news, can make so many peoples life easier. Refreshed stock available in the town center in the busy Christmas holidays period capitalising on all sales we miss for people looking for lat minute gifts. This could be really lucrative.
All good news
Bonus points for the first person to tell me the last football club shop in the town center??

Didn't Man U have a shop once?

Good move, although the 3 month trial could mean push the Christmas sales and then close in January when it gets quiet. Let's hope business is good enough for the club to see it through because it makes a lot of sense to have a town centre outlet.

Didn't Man U have a shop once? Correct they did, it was where phones for you (think its phones for you, some kind of phone shop) across from Waitrose. However back in the day STFC did have the smallest of small merchandising offering within the Man United shop! Slim pickings back then though.

Forgive me if this already happens but I think it would make a lot of sense for a couple of programme sellers to sit outside the train station when we know fans will bring a few on the train. I'd love to pick up a programme on an away day before I get to the pub and then have a look through before the game.

Great news.
Any new shop opening should be celebrated such is the ghost town Shrewsbury has become.
Makes obtaining tickets far easier for people who can pop in on their lunch hour and get one. Will hopefully boost the attendances too.
A welcome addition.

After the initial cheap rent goes cant see it being viable to have a retail space paying rent and business rates when the turnover of the shop would be pretty limited. Long term would be more viable as a small outlet in an existing shop, or maybe being able to buy match tickets at the Music Hall/theatre and pay them a percentage of the cost

big sale on at Shop, also online. all town need now are some ChippyShrew fish and chip vans for match days and to tour suburbs and villages during the week. well done town, credit where credit is due. I dis suggest 2 years ago you have a sales caravan in the Square.
I think I may buy a clippy beanie hat and scarf. they could be collectors items in 2090
why do not town sell their sales items on ebay as clearance and to make room for new kit and regalia. would love a STFC Pint Tankard with loggerheads and FS to go with my Pengwern Boat Club tankard up the legion with town's coat of arms on. certainly my 2 "Lucky" STFC Teddy Bears need Company!

Lets hope its better supported than the game on Tuesday because people have said the reasons for the low attendance is that folk are counting there pennys. If thats the case isn't opening a second club shop a bit of a risk? I agree with the person who said that there should besale items on ebay because online is a very good and modern way to sell, an amazon shop would work well too as not everyone likes using ebay.

Yes true, but if you find more people through being in the right place then at least some of them will spend a few more bob than we currently get.

Hows about Shrewsbury Town, had a stall in the Darwin prior to one of our trips to Wembley (or even Stoke) did a roaring trade I believe... AJ's on to something I think we've got old stock going back ages in the Old Club Shop, also other merchandise and ods and sods that could make an interesting addition to the usual stuff

This move is a no-brainer for me and something which I thought would have been done a long time ago but I suppose it just needed someone to actually have the motivation to try something new'ish, well, for us it is! Its a shame that this shop won't be stocking the new loggerheads stuff as moving into October and thinking about Christmas, well, whatever supposed fee it costs to change the image would be well and truly covered in the lead up to xmas and also the Jan sales!
Well done those involved in making this venture a reality

Didn't we have a presence in Burtons a while back?
In all honesty though does anybody see this a long term viable venture?

In all honesty though does anybody see this a long term viable venture? Probably not, but it has to be worth a go, if it doesn't work then so be it. I can see tickets being available at The Music Hall or some other civic building within the town longer term. what it does do though is to raise the profile of the club, put it into the psyche and to promote it in a way we have all been crying out for for years.

I seem to remember a link up of some kind but not sure what the reason was.

Don't know if it was a link up but Burton's did sell Town shirts a while back. I got my Patrick Blue and Amber striped one from there.

The chance to advertise the club and capture the imagination of the public from there is a good thing. A big screen in the window playing adverts such as Next game at Greenhous Meadow Portsmouth KO 3pm - Buy your tickets here..... New retro wear in.stock this Christmas... Calendars etc plus the latest Shrews Player stuff and Match higjlights to capture ones eye. Its a great opportunity to really attract new fans and old ones back.

A Pride of Shropshire shop would be good.
Stock football stuff, beach towels and tickets. It could also sell other things such as local brewers (Salopian, Dickensian, etc); Local food produce; artists and craft work.

I believe this is a short term 3 month experiment to clear the club shop of many items at sale price. but selling online from shop, ebay, amazon should be long term.

I'm delighted at this development, and no, I'm not sure it's a goer long term.
But take the introductory rent, sell a few things, and off we go.
My biggest concern is stocking it because fewer people will want tat with the old badge on for Christmas.
Chuck in a few meerkats and what else is there to really sell?
It's that side of it, positively improving merchandising, I think could be our greatest window of opportunity - beach towels included. But I think using the old logo for new merchandise is counter intuitive.
So in short, I think it's a great concept but wonder what exactly it's going to sell?
