Can't believe what I'm reading on the back pages of todays Telford Journal. Whats the bloke on, no wonder the players aren't performing. Think he has shattered any confidence they might have had. Some of the stuff he is saying about his players is terrible, supposedly calling them cowards to their faces is one think but slagging them off like he is to the media just isn't going to get the right results.
"I've never been relegated and I'm not about to start now" - well I can't see him being there at Christmas let alone when final places are decided

His comments are unwise admittedly, but I think Telford's issues run deeper. They cannot keep blaming successive managers.

He's got what we used to call Slopey Shoulder Syndrome. It's not my fault, it's some- one else' s.
Watson and Telford....two cheeks of the same.........
Why they don' t follow Scotland's lead and vote for separation from the Shire. I would move to live in Telford if it meant I qualified to vote, and it's a big YES from me..

Let's be honest. They are punching well above their weight currently so he is doing something right. Fact is that whoever they had in charge would be struggling. They are not a Conference club.

You could understand his comments just a little if most of them weren't signed by him only a few weeks before to build a team for the higher division. So most of them are his own signings.
Still 1/3rd of the way towards another epic season of no wins.................

Guided afc to another miserable home defeat last night at the hands of forest green . Luke Rodgers and lee Hughes combining to cement Telfords position at rock bottom of the conference , quite enjoyable !

I am probably in the minority but I would like to see Telford stay up, however they are not set up yet to compete at the Conference level and any part time club is going to Yo-Yo from the North / South divisions to Conference.
Personally I think it would be good for the interest and rivalry of the fans in Shropshire for Telford to become a League club but they are light years away from that with the current set up!

Hope they don't go down, based on their ownership model. I want to see as many supporter owned clubs do well as possible even if they are unfortunate enough to be Telford, apart from the Kingston Dons.

There are big problems at Telford. Falling crowds, few income streams and a ground that is not standing the test of time. I have heard that there is subsidence behind one of the stands. They don't have a youth policy because the best players are being picked up by League clubs in the area. The future does not look good.

They don't need to worry as Telford and Wrekin Council will always bail them out by giving them preferential treatment compared to other clubs in their area.

Ive used the comparison of them in the conference with us in L1. We consider the respective leagues our natural home but thats based on our history and things have changed a lot since we had a sustained period in the leagues. Whilst we may be considered bigger fish in the leagues below, once we get to those leagues we are the smaller teams and have struggled in them.
KFC in particular have struggled and when they are in the conference they probably are at a bit of dilemna as to the way the club operates. I get the impression that want to be this 'community club' which is all very admirable but in football money talks (sadly) so maybe they do need to be more ruthless, business focused and potentially move away from the model they have. They obviously dont have to go down the Andy Shaw on board but getting local investers on board may not be such a bad thing. If not then I suspect they will be stuck in this loop of being a big fish in the conference north/south but struggling to compete with ex league clubs in the conference.

Surely thats the same with most of our best young players (Mason Sprinthorpe etc). We let good local talent go because of their size not technical ability and replace them with lads Wolves and West Brom have released.

They are killing kingstonian. Moved in on their patch, over their ground and are now are slowly watching them die. The bullied becomes the bully.

Let's get facts straight here. Kingstonian went into administration and the administrators sold the club to a couple of asset strippers who separated the club from the ground. Wimbledon rescued the ground by paying £3 million and Kingstonian play rent free. If Wimbledon hadn't done that there would probably be no football played there.

AFC Telford United boss Liam Watson will have funds to bolster the Bucks’ survival battle following the historic sale of Mike Phenix to Barnsley. The deal that yesterday six-goal top-scorer Phenix to Oakwell is the joint-highest player sale in the Bucks’ history. And the club has confirmed that Watson will be supported with funds to secure new transfer targets as a result. A club statement read: “The manager has again been given the full backing and encouragement of the club board to bring in players as he sees fit in order to ensure we build upon the win at Woking. We are absolutely focussed on ensuring the club remains in the Conference Premier and progresses as far as possible in every competition.” The deal for Phenix, which runs until June 2016, is undisclosed, but it is believed to match the one Burnley paid for Duane Courtney in 2005, which was more than £25,000 in total. Clause The package is to include cash up front and staged payments at various intervals, as well as a sell-on clause and a pre-season friendly with Barnsley. www.shropshirestar.com/sport/afc-telford-united/2014/10/24/phenix-sale-earns-big-bucks-for-telford-boss-watson/
