The police won't have anything to do on the day apart from follow a few kids up belle vue road, so a statement like this keeps them in the public consciousness and helps sign off a bit of overtime. Allegedly.

The chief inspector in charge of the game doesn't even know the name of the ground! Chief Inspector Melanie Crowther in charge of policing for the match, said: “Our aim is to ensure that the large gathering of supporters from both home and away can visit the New Meadow to watch the game safely without disturbance.God help us if there's a problem with her in charge Seriously, can't remember any problems in the recent past, although we were held illegally after the match at Newport a couple of seasons ago, for our own safety apparently, but does this need to be all ticket, are Newport likely to sell their allocation? Davy....honestly...! Simple error means she is incapable of doing her job? Or maybe even she is a closet fan and prefers the NM tag. Lets face it, lots of fans still call the GM the NM. Was meant to be apologies to our finest.... edited I hope zero tolerance means if a large group worse for drink arrive by train they're kept at the station and put on the next train to Newport and not marched through the town and deposited in the away end .....

Bit of trouble round the Meole Island with a lad getting kicked to the ground by what I assumed were Newport thugs
Police just stood there and did nothing - took a Town fan to point out the culprit who then got chased round the island by the police before nearly going under a car. Would have been no great loss to the gene pool.

I've seen some disorder and general tw@tish in my time, but today was something new. Firstly the three ****ed up women who's language made even me blush. I'm all for equality, but blimey. Then the ****ed up old bloke who wanted to fight the world while the world was too busy laughing at him.
Finally seeing fat middle age blokes offer young kids and families out from behind the big green fence was both disturbing and hilarious in equal measure.
Of course there are decent County fans, but buggered if I came across any.

Perhaps Neddy will come on and explain our misunderstanding of their fans. Yep we've all got our fair share of idiots but when the morons out number the decent fans you understand why the police need a zero tolerance approach.

To be fair, there were two coaches stopped at Craven Arms while we waited for the bus from Ludlow no problem at all. Three young lads trying to look big but harmless and all the others were fine. They were a bit frustrated though as the police (and there were probably more than Craven Arms sees in a year!) wouldn't let the coaches leave until 2 o'clock.

They kept them back at the end and threw them on a bus, which didnt please them and apparently they was kicking off with the police.
From what i saw their was no need for the police and it was thousands of pounds wasted by the club.

The Warwickshire police were just moving around the ground as I got there. When I asked one of them why they had been drafted in from Warwickshire, he said it was all last minute, they only had their leave cancelled yesterday.

I heard some chanting on the opposite side of the Meole roundabout. Then a police car meandered through traffic with it's siren on. When i went past in my car i could see a guy being arrested on the roundabout.
I presume some sort of scuffle must have happened.

Your misinformation seems to be based on the fact that because we are just 12 miles apart that we share some kind of fan base. This couldn't be further from the truth. If any Cardiff fans come to watch us at home on City away days, they are likely to be those who just want a football fix and would give us their backing. As such they would pass unnoticed. If an organised group travelled to our away matches, they would soon be rumbled and not welcome. Believe you me, our rough around the edges element are home grown. A local(ish) game like today will bring them out. It does make for a bit of noise I must admit.

In fairness he said he had heard it from his mate though so not official info

It riles me more that the Club are wasting money on this more than anything El Presidente, What would today cost? having a guess but i reckon you would not get much change out of £30.000 if not more. Dont get me wrong its not nice to be spat on but i somehow avoided the Fat leek & potatoheads spit but other did not.

Was the same with the incident on the Meole island - some lad got knocked to the floor and 2-3 guys piled in kicking him and the Police who were no more than 20 yards away just stood and watched. Despite there being about 5 of them Have no problem with paying them to be there, but do get cheesed off they stand there like robo cop but don't actually do anything when the idiots kick off

Let's not pretend West mercia would be interested in a call of this nature after the event. It would be dismissed in an instant.officers witnessing such behaviour should deal with it there and then.

Ya know, I don't know... Maybe the question should be fired at West Mercia and a complaint raised? How do you ever expect to change a situation you're unhappy about simply by sounding off on an internet message forum? Seize this opportunity to find others in your situation, and carry the grievance to those who've let you down. I doubt however, Newport fans sought permission from the old bill to gob on you. A very disgusting offence of assault, I might add.

And if it was reported to a constable at the scene, and you were told to 'move along' you have a very good case for dereliction of duty against the force. Call them up, lodge a complaint, give all the details including time of incident and the collar number of the officer reported to, and if they try to fob you off, get the collar number of the call taker and take your complaint to the forces professional standard department; or complain to the IPCC.

The stewards are there to manage the fans. The police only step in during incidents within the ground at the request of the stewards.

If it was witnessed by a police officer it doesn't need a complaint when it is a public order offence as you well know. That officer should deal with it.!
