Assume this is relative to the "show us your passport" chant, that I tweeted about. Utterly moronic and frankly anyone who started just that chant should be weeded out. If there is more thats gone on (and who would be shocked if there was!) then i'm glad to the see the club investigating this and looking to get these idiots out of our club.
This sort of thing gets around and its so damaging to the club.

So embarrassing to hear it, I thought our fans were better than this. I know it was only a few, but it was surprising how many were singing it.

I wasn't there on Saturday, what actually happened?
It's such a shame that a few can give so many a bad name.

The club have failed to take this seriously in the past so I hope things have changed. But to take the next step fans need to do the brave thing and name names. We don't need 'fans' like that near our club.

Well you will be kicking most of block 18 and 19 out then. Just what we need with the falling attendances.

The Kick It Out app mentioned in the club piece is very good and allows incidents to be reported in real time at the match. In some cases it can be dealt with there and then. Worth downloading if you have a smart phone

I'd estimate half the people around me joined in at one stage or another. There were a handful of instigators without whom nothing would have happened really, and one well-known fan with a tendency to have one too many coming out with some unpleasant outbursts of his own although nobody joined him in his nonsensical ramblings.
I very rarely engage in much of the "banter" as it's mostly mundane e and seems to require me to look away from the game, which I don't want to do. The occasional original witty chant I may join in with but they are few and far between. Equally, though, I want to stand up and join in with pro-Shrewsbury chants, and where else is there to do that?
Ultimately it was ill-thought out and certainly doesn't reflect well on the club or those involved and I certainly don't condone it. Is it much more "racist" than the usual sheepshaggers stuff, though? Or is it just because we're used to hearing that and expect it as part of the "banter" bus that we just ignore it?

Without wishing to condone the chanting of "show us your passport," which is without doubt a crass, distasteful chant that always makes me cringe on the rare occasions that it's sung by our fans, is there not a chance we've jumped to conclusions in assuming that's what the article is referring to? I'm not an expert in the law surrounding these sort of things (and that's not be trying to be smug with my phrasing, I genuinely don't know,) but while there's little doubt it's unpleasant, would the wording not be too ambiguous to do someone on racism charges? I assumed, as I do whenever the chant gets an airing in the direction of the likes of Bradford and Birmingham, that it was a hilarious satirical comment on the high levels of immigration to the opponents area, and hadn't equated it with the race of any individual fan.
I might be completely wrong, but a tiny bit of communication could be useful in this instance. I did hear a racist comment separate to the chant shouted from behind me, in the direction of the aforementioned gentleman, and I'll contact someone relevant about that tomorrow.

Well you will be kicking most of block 18 and 19 out then. Just what we need with the falling attendances. So what are we suggesting? That the more people who do it the more acceptable it is? Or that it's too bigger problem to tackle? I'm aware I'm beginning to put words in your mouth which is unfair on a controversial issue like this but I'd really like to understand the point you are trying to make...

"Go back to your curry house" "You're just a town full of paedos" "Show us your passport"
etc etc
Instigated by kids and obese middle aged men who really should know better at the top of 18 - really pathetic.

"You're just a town full of paedos" There is a bizarre obsession with paedophelia among some in that area. Does make you wonder why.....

In my opinion this is a ridiculous over reaction from the club . If it's 2 or 3 people chanting about a passport no doubt they will take acton , if it was 200 what would they do? It's all number relevant . Whoever complained to the police is pathetic

Of course not, that's just banter remember.......... If someone sang show us your passport to a random white guy, then this wouldn't be a story. I by no means condone racism but can't stand people who think it's cool and the in thing to condemn every little thing and non story. Just make it worse imo

'Back to your curry house' started things off, but I was surprised to see so many people then joining in - quite gleefully - with 'show us your passport.'
In some cases I think it may be a case of people joining in with the 'banter' before thinking about what they're singing.
There also seems to be a minority who attend purely to goad opposition fans and keep the stewards busy with their persistent antics , with the match itself a side-show at best.
Taking the p**s out of your rivals is all part of terrace culture, but there was some embarrassingly unpleasant stuff going on on Saturday.

'Racist behaviour'
Anyone else a bit baffled by the misleading headline of this story?
Immediately 'racist behavior' conjures up disturbing images of people being chased out of towns, being kicked, spat at/physically harmed through being targeted for being a different colour/creed/nationality. KKK, black panthers, jihadists, National Front etc
This chant or chant(s), while extremely lamentable, clearly don't register on the same page.
All 'isms' are subjective and completely contextual. In terms of language it has to be about the intent of the words, not the words themselves. Politely threatening to 'do someone over' - or words to that effect, on the basis that they are black/white/asian is clearly abhorrent and has no place in society. Asking someone to 'show their passport' is nothing more but a very poor attempt at banter. There is no threat, there is no consequence.
I hope if these people are found, which itself is an argument for another day (how on earth can this be proven?), they are given some sort of ban from following the club. Not for 'racist behaviour' but for sh*t banter.
You also have to wonder why the posters who proclaim they've been hearing these offensive chants 'for years' haven't done something about it before.
Many years ago I reported a well known former taxi driver for shouting the most disgusting and undoubtedly racist word at then Walsall 'keeper Clayton Ince. When I described this scumbag to the nearby steward, she immediately knew this person and said his name.
Next home match, there he was stood in the same place shouting the same bile. It wasn't until many years later and after this gentlemen had repeated his actions that he was banned from the club.
How do I know this? He once came into where I was working, not knowing it was me who had reported him and boasted of his actions to a complete stranger.
These are the people that need smoking out of society. The kids in question will grow up.

What about the time last year when 100 plus town fans sung g*** chants to a long haired fan from Coventry . That was discrimination didn't hear any issues raised then
