There will never be a solution to suit everyone I know but one of the reasons why the ticket queues may be longer is because this season they dropped the stupid idea selling tickets for the home game only after 2.15. For those of us who live in the outer reaches of Shropshire but are still supporters this rule was a nightmare. The buses invariably arrived at 2.20 so too late if you wanted to buy a ticket for an away game and if you waited at the end of the match the coach couldn't leave!
To be honest I have queued longer at a supermarket checkout if I choose to go at a peak time so the same will go for here. I suspect that things will improve though as we seem to have a Chief Exec with ideas of how to improve matters
I like the idea of pick which stand and then take what seat you are given for very late comers though.

In addition I would add that 5% of a towns population is more than the going rate for a towns football watching population
Kings Lynn, Wakefield, Warrington, Gloucester, Hastings etc......what do they actually do on a Saturday afternoon ?
Support Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool or Man City??

Perhaps they could offer a click and collect service in each stand at half time for the next match ticket you have purchased previously by phone/internet?

Each game will bring back a few more. It 2 years of cr@p football to lose what, 750-1000 fans? It's gonna take a while for those numbers to return and the fact is we've probably lost a few of those forever. However... It won't take that long for fans to come back and new fans to become regulars if we continue to play at this standard. Very true, smack on.

No idea, watch Rugby, go on and on about 1066 ?

Is it worse since the buy before the day discount incentive ? I have always bought by Phone prior to matchday and collect on the day so have only seen the queues.

There is going to be a queue at this time, it's not always the clubs fault, you have customers faffing about with particulars such as which exact seat they want, messing about with payment methods, trying to start a conversation with the staff member who just wants to serve you and get the queue down!

Buying on line and picking up the ticket works for me, but not everyone does on-line.
Also, I can use my credit card at a deserted station to select and buy a train ticket from a machine, does anyone make a similar machine for stadium entry?
Wonder if there is any scope for a sponsor wanting to jump onto the current upward wave and fill in the corners - the place wouldn't be so draughty then. Any plans submitted for extra capacity could ask again for extra car parking and layout to prevent the cars and the fans having to mingle in together and a separate access road for people dropping off fans.

Another change from last season is the removal of the financial incentive to buy tickets in advance.
Instead we have "flexi tickets", in effect vouchers which can be exchanged for tickets.
My guess is that those who, last season, bought in advance, are now bringing their flexi vouchers to games and further swelling the queues.

I haven't been this season after over 30 years of being a regular, thought i'd go on Saturday, queued for a ticket for what seemed an age, heard the roar for the first goal and was no nearer the front so just left the queue and went home, which i know a couple more did. People will say get there earlier but that isn't always possible.

Why don't we operate a cash entry system from one turnstile per each stand? I know it was done pre season and seemed to work well. Because the whole ground is reserved seating so a cash turnstile would sell unreserved seats which would cause chaos... The problem is charging the same up to kick off which doesn't incentify fans to buy early Surely it's easy to overcome that problem? Use the blocks with the least season ticket holders in as the designated blocks for pay on the gate. Mark everyone season ticket a seat clearly to show it's a season ticket seat, then all other seats can be used unallocated. When we think ticket demand will be high where this may cause a problem (Dagenham, play off games), just make it all ticket and no pay on the day.

Maybe if tickets weren't an absolute bloody rip off more people would come. And that's not a dig at Town in particular, the problem is with all of English football

Sorry to state the obvious but if you've been going to footy for 30 years would have thought you'd know not to arrive within ? 20 mins of kick off and queue, haven't had cash turnstiles since the new ground opened.... On line, telephone or pop down in the week takes all the stress out, hardly the clubs fault if fans aren't organised a little better themselves... So the club have to cater for those on coaches arriving en mass at 20 past 2 to go to the ticket office, buy a match ticket, plus away tickets and or cup tickets, p.s. you missed a great match

Why are blocks one and two more expensive? Roland doesn't want the scallywags in his stand. So get the old boring ones in 1 & 2, the posh ones in 3.4 and 5 and the quiet young ones in 6 & 7

Whatever the reasons for people not going I'd urge them to get to GM to enjoy the talents of Clark, Wood, Wesolowski, Goldson, Grandison and the rest of the squad while they're still with us as we will be lucky to keep them together for very long.

From when I started supporting Town in the 1960s when it was pay on the gate there has always been a tradition of arriving at the gate at the last minute. Some things never change!!!

So get the old boring ones in 1 & 2, the posh ones in 3.4 and 5 and the quiet young ones in 6 & 7 I am in Block 2 pure habit because when I first started going at Gay Meadow 22 years ago I sat in the centre stand opposite the half way line. The reason blocks one and two are more expensive is because when we moved they put the blinkin posh seats in the place on the centre line where we were before. However, to make us all feel better (and in my case it hasn't worked) they kept the price higher so that we could all still pretend we were in the centre stand!!!! It is now a habit to sit there and I have made some good friends who are also there. However, I do not consider myself boring and do my best to get some sort of an atmosphere going. And anyway how can I possibly be boring when one of my friends a few rows in front is our very own Jaytee!!!!!!

On the subject of ticket prices....
Make sure you buy in advance for Hartlepool. My ticket states it's £20 on advance but a stunning £25 on the day.

On the subject of cash turnstiles...
Save a block of 300 or so in the least popular part of south stand.
As people come to a cash turnstile they get given the next ticket in the pile.
By and large you'll be by the people you came with, as you queue with them and are next in line for the next ticket in the pile.

davycrockett i know we should arrive earlier but if you'd read my last sentence it states this isn't always possible. Couldn't get one in the week as i wasn't aware i was going to the game then. Our club isn't geared up to deal with large amounts of people never has been.

By and large you'll be by the people you came with, as you queue with them and are next in line for the next ticket in the pile. You would have to make sure they had supporters numbers as the cctv cameras like to know who everyone is and where they sit, once people were in though they could easily move to sit somewhere else. I sit in the nice lowly populated bit of the south stand and we like it there, we had the likes of Burton, Smith and players' respective families sat around us last season, guessing some will be about this year too. Only thing missing in that area is the waft of toilets that used to come across us at the old ground! Block 13 in the West stand is pretty sparse.

He said he were no nearer the front and so who knows how long he would needed to have queued and how much he would have seen of the game if he had waited. It is an irritation. Way back when you would have fans who are queuing distributed amongst each turnstile entrance. Now we have what? One window? Maybe two windows? It is a pain in the arris. Appreciate it is what it is but hardly surprising to me that people simply can't be arsed with it...

Perhaps queuing as M&S, post office, banks etc would help. I can hear it now: Roland's dulcet tones: window number one please, etc., etc.!
