First half you were waiting for the mistake which looked to be coming when the ball was anywhere near his feet. Second half kindly Leicester put everything on his head and looked far more comfortable

I thought considering he hadn't played this season he matched goldson and knight Percival's performance . Didn't make many mistakes , got his head on everything and gave 100%

I thought he had a superb game. As bobby said, he matched Goldson and NKP and, for a player making his first competitive appearance this season in an unfamiliar formation, that was some performance.

I thought he looked understandably rusty in first 20 mins, but after that was great.

In my opinion i throught that Grandison had a good game last night considering that he hasn't played much this season yet.

Two weeks before the season I thought he was nailed on for a starting spot especially with MM speaking so highly of him... then came that rather inexplicable performance against kiddy which cast doubt on his fitness/attitude. Slow start last night but as many have said he grew into the game and formation really well and by the end was holding the defence together with his headers and challenges. Still very popular with most fans and I for one hope he gets a regular run in the 1st team soon, preferably at centre half.

He looks much better when he's there as a physical presence and other people are there to play the football.
That's Nugent and Wood who barely had a sniff.
Once Leicester 'went long' at the end it was like 'bring it on' because he was born for an aerial battle.
Am I right in thinking at 24 Demetriou was our oldest defender?

Demietriou is our Asombolonga..... he will make us a ruck of cash at the end of the season.....

Couldn't fault him.
Thought the back four were class last night.
Also the keeper, who doesn't 100% fill me with confidence, had his best game in a Town shirt I think.

Is it any coincidence that this season the players that look like they are going to shine are the ones that are having their first taste of their proper positions . Eg- Goldson ... How much have we messed him about since he's been here playing him at right back one week , center back the next and even center mid was mentioned! Woodsy - only this season have we really seen what he can do in CM , after playing him at right back for much of last season . And to me big jermaine grandison looks like he can shine at center back! All these 3 just need runs in the team in their proper positions , and we are/will reap the benefits IMO . Keep up the good work MM!

Nope, i insist that we loan players then ignore their preferred position and play where we think there is a gap......

Could have done. He certainly seemed to forget he was employed as a left back!! But who cares he has all the makings of becoming a really good league player.

Grandison worries me.
Not recovered yet from the operation, seems slow and cumbersome and particularly in the first half looked a liability. However second half he seemed to step up a gear and looked more solid.

Oooo more than likely!! As I have always said on here the intricacies are always beyond me!!! It's just the number 3 on his back makes me think left back!!!!

Last night you will have seen him and Gayle playing quite a bit further forward. That's because we had Grandison in between Goldson and NKP as a back three, then Wesolowski and Woods with Clark in front of them as a three in midfield. Gayle and Demetriou played wing backs, alternating between being wide in a midfield five or full back when needed. That's why he was much freer to go bombing down the line - he didn't have a midfielder to overlap particularly like he would if we were playing 4-4-2 with a left midfielder / winger. Our width came from the wing backs. Everything else pretty well was down the middle.

The same formation as successful sides like Holland and Costa Rica used at the World Cup, and also, incidentally, as Man United have used this season. Think that shows what a cracking job Mellon and Jacko (certainly deserves some credit for the coaching side of things) have done - a team with Man United's quality can't adapt to a new formation with a new manager, but we can. Even though many of us were worried about early results as the team is still in its infancy and the gelling process has a long way to go (which is evidently the case from the games I've seen) we are still getting some cracking results and playing some genuinely excellent stuff. So, so promising. Definitely the most optimistic I've been at this stage in a season during my whole time watching Town - including Turner's return.

Beware though you may become my personal adviser on here if you are not careful!

" Everything else pretty well was down the middle." That is one thing that has improved from the last few seasons ...

Loved the pointless stepover, and the diving header today! He's so entertaining and a great player to boot. We're lucky to have him.

Fair play he is a beast. Every one of their set pieces he stood on our penalty spot and went hell for leather to get his head on it. They had no answer to him.
