After a deserved win tonight i am sure you lads will be on cloud nine. It was fully deserved, albeit against the weakest leicester side we have fielded in the past decade (at least). Your lads showed the type of dedication and hard work that we have showed over the last 12-18 months to get where we are today. A premier league side, dominating Chelsea on their home patch for 60 minutes, and taking a point off the ever reliable everton.
There was only 2 surprises that i had tonight.
1- The scoreline was only 1-0, admittedly it could have been more, but in the end it wasn't.
2- We played with 3 regulars. I honestly thought we would have started 11 kids, given the fact that we have our 4 key players injured, and a very thin squad. Albeit we started with a few kids myself and fellow fans had never heard off.
From a leicester point of view, we are disappointed that we could not go on a cup run again this year, but we realized the second we lost our 4 most influential players right at the start of the season that this was inevitable. We couldn't even play many back-up players simply because we couldn't risk any more injuries, because as of right now we only have one fit center mid in the squad in king, until drinkwater, james and hammond return from injury.
Good luck for the rest of the season, surprised by the celebrations of your fans given the fact that on paper, given the fact we had a number of players who have yet to even play league football, you were probably the favorites.

We had 3 players who have only played non-league football, only 3 of our players will be in the team on sunday. In my eyes, when given the teamsheet before the game you were the favourites, and won. Remember, Burton albion stuffed us 4-1 a couple of seasons ago, and we had a fairly strong side out, tonight, it was the weakest 11 i can remember in the last decade.

(Moore,Konchesky,Mahrez,King,Taylor-Fletcher,Wood,Schlupp and Nugent). We were without a few key players ourself including our Captain Liam Lawrence. We definitely weren't favourites to win, the bookies had us at 9/1 to beat you which suggests we weren't fancied very much. No, it wasn't your strongest side but even with a few changes you should be beating a League 2 team. All the best for the season but we totally battered you tonight.

I beg to differ with your version LCFC!!
Riyad Mahrez- Algeria Chris Wood- New Zealand Andy King- Wales David Nugent- England Marcin Wasilewski- Poland Paul Konchesky- England Jeffrey Schlupp- Ghana
No matter how you try to dress it up, you had SEVEN full internationals who participated in the match.
You are a Premier League club with some degree of financial clout. We are a League 2 club, who rely largely on the sale of the odd player here or there to sustain itself, playing away from home.
To say we were pre-match favourites is delusional!!

Simply untrue, as horse01's post shows. Actually think it is pretty disingenuous of you to come on here and make a show of praising us on our victory but at the same time seek to belittle it with your excuses. Sod off and patronize someone else, and enjoy your season-long relegation battle safe in the knowledge that at least you'll have the obscene parachute payments to look forward to.

Sod off and patronize someone else, and enjoy your season-long relegation battle safe in the knowledge that at least you'll have the obscene parachute payments to look forward to. This. The "weakest" team, for a decade? Weaker than when you were in League One? Jog on. and on your way take a leaf out of Nigel Person's book "“I would never dismiss how other sides play,” said Pearson. “I can talk as much as I want about how disappointed I am about our performance, but I think that it would be discourteous of myself to spend too much time talking about that. “Shrewsbury are a side that have started the season very well and deserved to win the game. I’ve no qualms about saying that. Good luck to Shrewsbury Town, but of course my own concern is our own performance and how we go about playing the games that we play.” Read more at www.lcfc.com/news/article/260814-pearson-we-didnt-do-enough-1877574.aspx#IyP1xyWLEX1rOMC5.99"

Also, every leicester fan pre game were suggesting to 'play the kids' and also 'go for double figures'. So to belittle the result now is pathetic.

The celebrations were fully justified as we played you off the park for most of the night and some had been claimin it could be " double figures". I suggest leicester fans stop moaning , stop staying at home to watch man utd and get down and support their team in what is obviously going to be a relegation struggle with your "thin squad"

The o/p's comments are typical of the biased, self centred analysis I heard last night listening to Radio Leicester coming home. Of course their weakened team was a big factor but come on lads there was much to admire about the other team out there last night.

And you can only play what is in front of you. If they played a so called weakened team that's there problem. The stats and result of the match will never change and in the history of STFC records will always show we beat a Premier League club.

I note our Leicester fan hasn't replied when given the facts! look at the resources they have and the money to build their squad. If they cant filed a strong side 2 weeks into the season then bad planning by the club / manager and definitely a good bet for relegation, but we knew that! We were favourites? Check the odds matey and the bookies do know how to set odds. Surprised we celebrated and only scored 1 goal, thats all you need and believe it or not we don't get too much to celebrate so why wouldn't we? All in all a sad fan who has got 'were in the premiership big club syndrome' who couldn't resist coming on here to make excuses and belittle us..... What a sad life ducks

From what I gathered, at the end of the game all the Leicester City fans were there applauding Shrewsbury Town, Mickey Mellon and the fans, which was truly fantastic. I am guessing you were in the toilet having a little cry at this time? Many thanks for the congratulations, but you can't make any excuses whatsoever. We were missing our captain, our top scorer this season had to go off before half time and you fielded six international players and by all accounts a fair few first teamers in that squad. Added to which, you were at home! After what happened at the end of the game, I thought very highly of Leicester City FC, and would have been happy if you stay up, of course I'm sure Nigel Pearson if he saw what you wrote he'd tell you to stay well away. Now, I am not too sure, will let you know after Arsenal beat you.

I was having a drink in a pub by the station before catching my train home, and the Leicester fans there were saying they were lucky it was only 1-0.

HAHA what a complete nobber.
Absolutly love these 'fans' who think they are 'IT' once they've reached the Premier League. Face it mate you have been played off your own patch by a League 2 side (with no International caps) and were lucky to escape with 0-1!! Not to forget you had 8 (2 played half hour and 1 20mins) players who played last night, played a part Vs Chelsea with a further 3 who started last night, on the bench last Saturday!!
So as for this 'may aswell get on with the 3rd round draw now' and 'play 11 kids and win 3-0' s*** your lot were saying when the draw was made looks very silly now doesn't it?
Have fun beating Arsenal at the weekend won't you.
Leicester City 0-1 SHREWSBURY TOWN

That's incredibly disrespectful, just admit that the better team won on the night - as shown by the stats.
I'm a bit of a **** and even I wouldn't dream of posting something like that - not ever.

A division 4 side playing against a premiership side and we were favourites? A division 4 side beating a premiership side in their own back yard and you wonder why we were celebrating?
Before the game it was "we should stuff them with our kids", after the game it was "you beat our kids, what's the big deal", quite laughable really although there were some decent Leicester fans who very complimentary about us and were gracious in defeat.

No decent young midfielders as cover then? That wouldn't be good preparation for the Premier League, would it? You do realise the midfield that played you off the park consisted of a Leicester reject, a 20 year old ex-Barnsley reserve just about in double figures for league games and another 20 year old ex-youth teamer who's only just starting regularly in midfield? You knew that when you were patronising us, right?

I must say most of the Leicester fans I encountered after the game were gracious in defeat.
It does make you laugh though when they reel off the key players that were missing.
Let's not forget, this wasn't our strongest side either. No Ellis, no Vincent, no Lawrence.
Slightly off topic, as I was waiting for my lift with the honorable Robin Hood Shrew after the game we bumped into Leonardo Ulloa who posed for a photo.
Some of the motors that were being driven off by Leicester players after the game were enough to make you blush. Ferraris, Porsches, Range Rovers the lot.
I guess that also made it hit home how much of a scalp this was for little old Shrewsbury, regardless of who was playing for them.
