Another CM?!
He would bring quality but we have a lot of quality players in that position.
If we were to sign anyone, I'd hope it would be a winger. When we last got promoted we had Wright,Ainsworth and Taylor and I don't think we have the same quality at the moment.

Are we about to lose someone then? Seems very excessive in the middle...

Lawrence,Wesolowski,Woods,Wildig,McAllister and Clarke. Add in Osbourne too, then surely McAllister and Wildig/Woods are off.
Shame really as I see both Wildig and Woods are capable at League 1 and will be playing most of their careers higher than League 2.

WOW!
Cant sustain that crop of midfield players we have now.
500k and sell on's for woods? would you take it?
All in all great to have another strong looking player come in.

I seem to remember him saying he sees himself being the next Patrick Vieira when he first played for villa. Not quite lived up to that tag just yet but it's good to aim big.

Woods is on a contract so we should get good money for him if this is true. Of the two Osborne's listed above one is a defender tother is midfield, which do we need more of? Both have championship level experience so hopefully good, but would they come here?

A friend from Blackpool says he is a very good holding midfielder and would be very good at League 2 level.
Hope Woodsy stays though

Based on what potential we saw of him in a dire side last year I think he's worth more than that. Twice the player that Jon Taylor is IMHO so worth at least double the rumoured fee that Posh paid us. And based on what they saw of Woods in our games against them, I think Wolves (if they are the interested party) would indeed pay that sort of fee.

Quite a few wolves fans I know rated Wildig very highly too.

Firstly before we start compiling sell on clauses and image rights on Woods, shall we wait until we hear an official unveiling of a new player before trying to second guess who is going where for 1.3 million! We have gone off half-cocked before.......but I wouldn't want Woods to go!

Not sure Osbourne would be an improvement - MM said that's all he would be looking for.
Can see Woods and Wildig looking at their position in the pecking order and be tempted away - would be a real shame to see either of them go as they were both stand outs in a terrible team last year.

I can't see either of them leaving because they don't think they'll get a game in League 2. Wouldn't say much for their confidence in their own abilities if that was the case. If either goes, it'll surely be for more positive reasons - an opportunity with a club in a higher league (and a better contract to go with it). Anyway, it's still rumour and conjecture at the moment.

I'd rather we got another season out of Woods, he's looked very handy in the practice matches. Having said that if another offer of Jon Taylor proportions came in we'd be crazy not to take it.
I share others concerns about too many players in this position. Even if Woods went I'm not sure we would be desperate for a replacement.

At what point should we stop using the word potential ? Now - in League 1 & 2 terms In another year or two - in terms of playing higher Whether or not we call it "potential", he's someone that should continue to improve and develop into a very good player.

At what point should we stop using the word potential ? He's shown the potential to be a decent central midfield player, at the age of 22 he now needs a decent run in his preferred position to show how good he could be. Stuck out wide for a lot of his Town career under GT didn't really give him a fair chance to shine mind.

The season after and last season he wasn't. Woods hasn't come up through a big club's youth set up like Wildig but has developed much quicker IMO and will end up playing at a very decent level.
