Brentford warrants an honourable mention, but I think mine was Cambridge.
I hadn't been there before, and went with the Bro, who had a gammy leg at the time. I couldn't believe it when the buses stopped and we had to walk (and limp in the case of the Bro), over a mile across a field to the ground. Our mood wasn't helped by the fact we lost 5 - 0, and didn't get a kick. I believe Dave Kitson got 2, as did Juan Omar Riza. When the torture was over, off we walked/limped back to the buses, with "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts" blaring out of the tannoy system . (I think I blamed Ryan Jervis).
Have you walked/limped further?

Play off final at Stoke, my dad always refused to pay for parking and we didn't know Stoke that well at the time. Still determined to park somewhere for free he was more than happy with Industrial Estate near Trentham Road... A good 2.5 mile walk! Worth it though!

Chester was always a good walk and Cardiff City. Torquay a right walk from Torre station all up hill. Port Vale another walk up a hill.

I was quite young at the time so might not have been as far a walk as I recall, but in 82 when we played Leicester in the FA Cup Quarter Final the buses left us miles from the ground and got walked to the ground by the police

Have you walked/limped further? I remember that game unfortunately. One miserable 90 minutes was followed by another as I got lost on the way back to the train station and ended up spending the best part of an hour and a half walking aimlessly around a housing estate so at my pace that's about 6 miles. Come to think of it that was much more entertaining than the footie...

I walked 5 miles to Burton the other year. I think it's only about 2 miles away but the long way's more fun

Two friends of mine who were Derby County/Man U fans went to watch Derby v Man U a few years ago, forgot what street they'd parked in, and were wandering around Derby for 4 hours after the game looking for the car.
I was very sympathetic.

When I was taking distance running seriously I used to park 4/5 miles from the ground (away games only) and jog to the match as part of my training.
Longest walk was probably Chester train station to Sealand Road.

Went to watch Town at Sunderland one midweek match near the end of the season back in the 80's. Coaches parked a 'safe distance from the ground' which was at some out of town seaside area. Not sure quite how far it was but seemed one hell of a way being escorted back with a few Teeside police and many more of their fans infiltrating us seemingly without the police being any the wiser. Yet another away game I was sort of glad that Town had laid down and died.

If I remember that Cambridge game correctly JT it was the one, though on reflection it was one of many, where Dunbavin played in a blindfold wearing a balaclava with no holes in it just to be on the safe side.................

Don't remind me of that game which followed the 6-0 or 6-1 thrashing at Boston and a few weeks after the thrashing at Rusholm I seem to remember sitting through them all! A difficult time to follow Town away and home wasn't much better

From RAF Wittering near Stamford in South Lincolnshre to Doncaster for the FA Cup tie 1977/78, Jon Nixon scored the winner I think. I set out at 9.00 am and through a combination of walking and hitching got there about 10 minutes before the end of first half. I got back about 10:30 at night. Quite a little adventure which included being picked up the Police on the way back for walking along the motorway verge thinking it was only a dual carriageway doh!

Most home games when I lived in Castlefields to the current ground, gutted I moved in a few years after the ground move as would have been a nice short stroll down the river
Macclesfield always seems a long walk back to the train station especially as its always raining, Rochdale is another one which is considered a good away day but miles away from the centre and station. And of course there is the Deva, particularly when you have a very stop/start police escort back to the station.
Northwich is one which sticks out for some reason, maybe not so long but it seemed very strange walk as we ended up in the middle of nowhere by the salt mines (possibly having taken a wrong turning!).

I've walked from my house to Boundary Park to watch the Town play Latics over the years. It's only about a 3.5 miles round trip but it felt like 10 times that last season (New years day) when it absolutely chucked it down on the return walk!
I got absolutely soaked but it was worth it to see a rare away win last season!

Another "good walk" we had was up at Stockport. We'd lost, (naturally), and followed the instructions back to the buses, except they weren't there. We were now walking back towards the Stockport fans, some of whom the wee wee, but most were very helpful, sending us back to where we'd just come from. In the end we gave up and went back to the ground, where we were informed that the coaches were parked just around the corner!
We had to wait ages for the stragglers, and some of the drinkers on the coach were getting a bit tetchy, as they were dying to get back to Salop to drown their sorrows.

Not away but I used to regally walk from Cotton Hill to the new ground before I moved recently. Almost 2 and a half miles (5 miles round trip). Many times it was NOT worth it.
