It was. A good listen that. I think we've been crying out for someone like him for a long time now. His comments on the club shop and merchandise alone make me think he's a decent appointment, that club will improve under his guidance. Just refreshing to hear someone talk about things that I think the club have previously undervalued or ignored. This guy gets it.

Very interesting listen that.
He's certainly very switched onto the commercial opportunities, very refreshing. Sounding more and more like an excellent appointment.

Credit has to go to RW for getting him in. He was basically running Blackpool when they got promoted to the Premier League so to have him with us in League 2 is great to see. Seems very switched on and seems like the ideal person to have as a chief executive. Exciting times ahead! ?

Maybe credit for finally getting it sorted but why is the club in the situation he's found and why hasn't something been done about it in the last 5 /6 years when it was obvious to all or most fans that the commercial side wasn't being properly run... But that's in the past so hopefully RW has belatedly sorted it although the accounts will tell

Can anyone confirm the show and what time in the show so I can have a listen? Not very switched on to Radio Shropshire for obvious reasons.

Have been very impressed with Matt. Sometimes you do just need to have someone come in with a fresh pair of eyes and ears. And also not just the 'can do' but the authority and delegation to as well.

Well I guess that's one way of putting it. Another way is to say you just need to have someone come in who knows what they are doing and can dedicate the time needed to do so...

Was at work so missed it but have it in my ear now as I type and as before when I have chatted to him in person he is approachable and can hold a conversation. Beach towels? ? Hell ya why not do a complete towel set? Plus the kitchen needs taps with STFC on it? Plus not forgetting my cups, plates, knifes and forks too plus my tea spoon too. Expansion on the shop sounds on the cards plus I loved he acknowledged the Supporter Parliament too where I gathered he was not too sure on it at first. Proof at first is in the pudding and a nice fry up is required I think with a pint too

I'm very impressed with him at every level.
He 'gets' it.
He understands football inside out.
He's not just 'commercial'or 'hospitality', he's 'football', and that's going to make a huge difference.

Just heard the full interview now.
This is exactly the type of person we were crying out for a while, he knows how to run a good football club. He has great ambition too and it's great to have a football supporter running stuff at the club with experience at a much higher level.
It's amazing how much can change in a few months, I just hope we can deliver on the pitch!

Sounds as if he will take the commercial element of the club forward.

They really are trying to promote the commercial side of the club. Received 3 Emails today. Two identical about the schools summer programme and the 3rd advertising a wine & dine with Micky on the 26th June.

Said all the right things, which I would have expected from him to be fair, but still nice to hear anyway.........
Now don't get me wrong I'm not Ryan Jervis's biggest fan but please was that last question about him welcoming the away players, Directors and fans to the Meadow for real
I think he is spot on with his welcome to the opposition, its just called polite courtesy and decency in my book, something that we could do with more of in society not less.
Carry on the good work Ryan...........just need to sort out your minutes from your moments............

What did people make from his comments regarding the kit supplier. Would that suggest we won't be with Surridge that much longer or did I get that wrong? Did he mention its not the best deal we could have got?

Are we starting to put the wheels in motion to actually become a 'big' club? From what you have all alluded to from this interview it sounds like a major coup that we have managed to get this guy and he wants to turn us into a dominant force off the pitch also.
Expansion of the shop? Unsure how other than building work but then it wouldn't look symmetrical!
I'm more excited about this season than I was on my wedding night!!

I don't see it as us becoming a 'big' club. However, I see it as us becoming the club that we thought we'd be after the move to the new stadium. Hopefully anyhows...

Thanks for the links chaps. Just enjoying the listen now. Seems a typical Oldham lad, likeable, no nonsense, spade is a spade type. Very encouraging so far.

Impressed by some of his early work so far but the match pricing fiasco means he can't quite walk on water just yet. Any talk of revamping the club shop is pretty pointless unless a big decision is made soon. The thought of having Clippy the Crestfallen Lion on my beach towel makes me and plenty other potential customers shudder. Talking the talk is all well and good but we had much of that during Feb/Mar time this year. Unfortunately talking a good game wasn't enough to keep us up or our then manager in his job. Far too soon to know how effective Matt Williams will be in the long term. History tells us first impressions aren't always an indicator of success.... blueandamber.proboards.com/thread/47007/rob-bickerton-meets-fans
