To my knowledge Network Rail have never shown an interest in maintaining their side of the fence which is where the problem arises. So that leaves the club and the Council as the only interested parties who could do something about the state of the path. The Super Blues have been great in the past with their contributions to the upgrading of the path. Voluntary contributions as outlined above have been excellent. I would have thought between them the club and Council could sort out a) dates for the weeds to be cleared and b) the small budget needed to achieve that maintenance. It is not rocket science Surely in this day and age, as the nettles etc are coming through the fence from Network Rail they have a duty of care to ensure that THEIR weeds do not encroach onto a public or permissive foot way. I work for a company who provide debris netting etc! Although I can't fund it I can get it at cost if I know the length. let me find out how much it would cost to put something up to stop it getting through. I would be willing to stand with a bucket until the cost of the material had been covered, then buy it from work. Any other volunteers? Both for collecting cash and putting netting up! Prefer Network Rail option but feedback welcome. Nowt definite but it does need sorting! (Netting is blue but not Amber!)

Can you give us an idea of size, cost, etc?

It's worse than I've seen it before. The growth is not only encroaching onto SBW itself, but also on the other side fence as well. We'll have to have a chat about the best way forward, but it's done for now.

As a regular user of the SBW may I say thank you to everyone involved in clearing the undergrowth for the benefit of the masses. Just a pity that the powers that be at GM Towers didnt get the job done prior to the Chesterfield game but then perhaps the costs were just a little too great for RW and his constantly revolving entourage.

It's a difficult situation to be fair. Laptop from the club has been very helpful, but the problem comes from Network Rail, who aren't really bothered. The club don't actually own Superblues Way, but lots of our supporters use it, and the situation is slowly getting worse.
Any road up, several people are looking at a longer term solution, so this shouldn't arise again.
(He said hopefully).

Excellent work by JT and others. But the real debate is still about why we, as supporters, paying customers, consumers whatever ! are still made to channel ourselves down a narrow, unsafe walkway when perfectly safe and preferable alternatives exist.
It is the biggest disgrace and shame that exists about the new ground and consistently the club stance is that they couldn't give a toss. Shameful and not something that would be tolerated by any other entertainment venue within this town or county

Thanks very much fellas. Will be appreciated by many a fan, a lot will not realise the voluntary work that went in to it. We can wear shorts in peace when near the ground.
