He probably did turn us down. I bet Mellon said he won't be guaranteed a start every week and probably start off 3rd/4th choice. Ideally I would have liked him here but I think the lad wants to be playing every week!

Asante or Mangan - I'd have chosen different to Mr Mellon - let's hope that it works out well for us.

I think we have to trust our leaders opinion. Mangan was always his fust choice.

On the basis of a couple of run outs spread over three consecutive seasons, I struggle to see exactly why Asante is so highly thought of by our fans. Maybe I missed something he did.
On the topic of Mangan I don't known an awful lot about him apart from the fact he's Joey Barton's mate and a lower league journeyman with a similarly sketchy background.
Doesn't scream 'wow' signing to me but I've already seen enough of Collins and Vernon to expect them to lead the line this season and be one of the formidable strike partnerships in the league.

I don't really get the appeal with Asante either, I think he was poor in his first spell here and only slightly improved in the spells since then.
Not entirely keen on the thought of signing Mangan, he's done well on non league but hardly set the world alight, but I trust Mellons judgement because we've signed some really decent players so far this summer.

I'm sure we will need other forwards at some time this season - it is up to the likes of Mangan to prove themselves worth keeping in the team when they get the chance. As MM has worked with him before I'm happy to give him the chance to show himself when the time comes

I'm another not convinced by Asante. Even less so if he is as injury prone as I am hearing, too.

Mangan comes with baggage but has shown he can score a goal.Don't have any problem with him as a back-up striker and Mellon obviously thinks he can handle him.

With managan already lined up it would seem less likely of another striker being signed and instead midfielder creative play makers on lawrence, Robinson & clark have been signed. Which from what I saw on Saturday complements wesolowski and woods.
Ref managan. Need to trust MM that he knows the player and how to get the best out of him.

Wasn't GT the man who got the best out of Lionel Ainsworth at one time? It would appear that MM feels he can do the same with Managan and who knows this may be the case. Sometimes it just need the right combination of personalities.
If he comes, and he hasn't signed yet, he will be our player and worthy of our support until he should prove otherwise.
After all, these days it would surely be said that Victor Kasule had 'baggage' and he was great for us!

with the risk that might come with mangan they might well have a contract with a few extra subclauses in it, or at least limit it to a year with extensions

Taking a while for the signing to get confirmed. How fit is mangan ? Will he need to catch up with pre-season?

He has shown in the past that he can score goals; but fitness, attitude, wages and competition for starting will all be issues.
As others have said would rather a promising youngster to come in. Let's hope we get a couple of cup runs to keep all of the squad busy!

Mangan famous for his betting scandal in the Accrington vs Bury game in 2008 which resulted in the banning of the Accy players involved.

To be fair mangan played on the right side of a 433 with Brodie and vardy and since mangan left Fleetwood has visited a few times I still think he could of done a job in league 2. Before g Alexander released him although he was out for a long time that season due to a bad injury and I think this influenced the decision rather than his attitude. Mind you compared to the player that replaced him in jamille the donkey Matt I would rather have manganese than matt

I would imagine the delay is down to negotiating what percentage Forest Green will pay of Mangan's wage. The lad is just 12 months into a three year £3k per week deal. Not sure he'll be so keen to take much of a wage cut, especially when he cannot be guaranteed a starting berth here either.
