Blackpool are going down the river without a paddle fast! I'm given to understand that the Manager and Oysten(Chairman/owner) are in a 'Standoff' position. The Manager will not Manage and Oysten isn't doing anything to rectify the problem. Also I believe that someone has put in a bid of £60 million to buy the club and Oysten has refused it saying its worth more.....doh !

Source? Nothing on Blackpool Gazette website and nothing on Sky Sports News. That said I can see it happening very soon. I'm following events closely at my second side and am totally dismayed. Fans are returning season tickets, they have been making representations to the FA and the FL (who can't do anything). They are looking to formulate mass protests, today there was even talk of using the PDC World Matchplay that starts at the Winter Gardens on Saturday as a means of anti Oyston protestation. Very grim times for the Seasiders

And there was us wondering why Matt Williams left his position with a Championship club to take up a similar position with little old us. There's no flies on Matty boy. And if you play your cards right and bbtlmaybe we could be hanging a banner of you as a S.T.F.C. legend, with the money we have from the Legends Cards sale. How much have we still got by the way.

Not just yet. Been told he has had a big falling out with Oyston but not officially quit yet but I expect it to happen soon. 8 players are left but Riga wants NONE of them and has banned the players from playing and will field the youth team in friendlies til he gets his own players in.

Strewth, 27 players have already left and the manager wants to get rid of the last 8? That's some clear out. If he stays, what sort of team will they field against Town? Anybody else thinking that this might not be happening had MW still been there?

On the face of it you can say it is easy reach that conclusion. However, we have apparently chased Matt Williams for some time. He was at Blackpool for 12 years, the last nine of which were as secretary. Each year there has been the same shaningans with Karl Oysten, even when 'Pool reached the Premiership. KO doesn't do things orthodox, so why didn't Matt leave earlier if he had the opportunity? Maybe he had had enough, maybe he just thought it was time for a new challenge. Whatever the reason, as I said at the time, Blackpool's loss is definitely our gain as he was a massive influence there and is, I'm sure, already being hugely missed, as the current soap opera there would tend to suggest.

I have heard that rumour too. However, he has signed two of those 8 himself. The other 6 yes, he inherited. The problem lies in an argument he is allegedly having with Karl Oysten over making signings of the players he wants. KO runs a tight ship when it comes to wage demands. Jose Riga is digging his heels in and as a result the Spanish per season camp and 2 games there has ended up being cancelled. There is talk too that Saturday's friendly at Penrith could also be cancelled. It is hard to confirm the exact truth as Jose Riga has refused all attempts by the Blackpool Gazette to give an interview since he was first announced as manager. Karl Oysten too is saying very little

A manager who refuses to talk to the media? Great for PR. Fat chance of his engaging with the supporters then.

They do have abdul razak, jacob mellis, elliot grandin, callum davenport (got stabbed and been in non-leagues) and nathan delfouneso on trial so they could boost the numbers by signing them. I can't see Riga staying long but then would anyone decent want to take over?

A manager who refuses to talk to the media? Great for PR. Fat chance of his engaging with the supporters then. Oddly enough the fans are firmly behind Jose Riga. Why? Because they see he is standing up to KO in a bid to get together what he feels is a competitive squad. KO isn't budging with regards to wages, JR isn't budging on his targets. Fans are fed up with the seasonal pantomime which has seen them pick up a flux of cast offs and cheap options at the final hour, previous managers have endured this, Riga is making a determined stand. They see him as their only hope.

Well if a cardiff fan is shocked by there fans behaviour they must be bad.
Must say I haven't really taken an interest in them till know, can someone explain how they got in this position or is it another case of a chairman using a club as a play thing.

Tempted to do a Shrewsbury Promotion 7/4 and Blackpool Relegation Double bet 8/11 , they are favourite to go down with Rotherhem on Skybet.
Even Michael Chopra on Twitter has been casting doubt on this season , moaning about the pitch and having to wash your own kit at home and clean your boots.

They are a well run club and make regular profits. The problem is, all of the profits go in to the owners back pocket rather than being reinvested in the squad. Oyston doesn't even like football at all and uses the club to make himself richer. Blackpool fans have always come across as a good bunch to me, obviously you will get dickheads at every club.

Having seen the way some Blackpool fans act, I have no sympathy. Horrible bunch. Not sure if you are looking for a bite but I certainly won't give you the pleasure by going off on one. What I will do is respond with facts: FACT - I have seen Town games home and away against Cardiff down the years and I must have seen approaching 20 games in that time. I have witnessed first hand at a number of these games, intimidation, fists thrown, running riot through the town, shop windows smashed, spitting, attempted pitch invasions. Generally they are not pleasant games to be at. FACT - I have seen Town games home and away against Blackpool plus, down the years I have been to Blackpool games supporting them, both at Bloomfield Road and away games. I have witnessed no such scenes of violence and intimidation. Can you please give examples of "the way some Blackpool fans act" that you allege you have seen, so I am assuming you are talking you have seen first hand? Perhaps we can then all better judge this "Horrible Bunch"

Having watched Shrewsbury since 1984 there is no doubt the old Ninian Park was one of the most dangerous places to watch football. I remember a chap with his forehead split open by a coin just in front of us. I remember all the Windows in town boarded up the day after Cardiff visited.
St Andrews and the old Victoria Ground in Stoke were up there too. There were times when it's no exaggeration to say driving home you were just happy to have got out safe.
That night league cup game in the Barry Fry era was bonkers, cups of wee being chucked off the balcony into us, the car park afterwards...
Compare that to the current 'aggro' we've seen in the last few years with Hereford or Chester and it's laughable really.
So yeah, a Cardiff fan could perhaps chuck stones at the fans of Partisan Belgrade, or maybe some south American ultras, but anyone else? Don't make me laugh!

Must say I haven't really taken an interest in them till know, can someone explain how they got in this position or is it another case of a chairman using a club as a play thing. pughywasfree, the Oysten family have been involved with Blackpool for many years, firstly with Owen Oyston who on the club when it was in a very bad way and about to go to the wall. He paid off the debts and saved the club, he has always been a fan. He then got accused, charged and convicted of rape and his son Karl over the reigns. Karl isn't really a football man, but he has stuck with it. He's tenure has seen them gain promotion through the leagues all the way to the Premiership all done while running a very tight ship and keeping the club in the black. The vast majority of fans will tell you he has been a very lucky chairman, and certainly you can argue he has overseen a period that has witnessed them being too successful for his own good. The thing is he just doesn't seem to give one jot what the fans say and think of him and he just refuses to reinvest any appreciative sums of money into the club. The training pitch and facilities are worse than many non league clubs, still he talks about the ongoing work in looking at and securing a site, but there never seems to be an end result. It was the same with the ground improvements although all four sides were eventually redeveloped but it was after many years of seemingly empty promises and much frustration for the fans. Some fans have supported the way he has run the club but most have been anti the Oystons for a long, long time if not forever. It would now appear even the most supportive have finally had enough.

Last game of the season when Cardiff promoted from league 2 was absolute chaos! Cardiff fans threatening everyone, police little better, when we complained due to continual bombardment by coins they just laughed and threatened to throw town fans out... Stewards and police and ref had no control with 100's of Cardiff fans on the pitch for the last 15 mins ... so wonderballs if you looking for the worst fans have got to say Cardiff to a man are scum
