Know this really is a shot in the dark but for a bit of fun what are you starting 11.

It really could be anything. Maybe this as 3-5-2 with wing backs? ===Leutwiler===
======Goldson===Ellis===Knight-Percival======
===Grandison======Wesolowski======Demetriou===
===Lawrence===Wildig===
===Collins===Akpa Akpro===

------------------Leutwiler-----------------
Grandison Goldson Knight-Percival Demetriou
----------------Wesolowski-----------------
---------Wildig------------Woods-------------
---------------Lawrence---------------------
--------Collins-------Akpa-Akpro--------------
I want to fit in Goldson,Ellis and NKP but can't, dilemmas for Mickey Mellon and that is a good thing.

I'm guessing he'll do a different squad for Tuesdays game which might involve some of the big guns that he's brought in, so it might well be original players from last season with a range of subs on of newer players.

I think as some have said the 352 formation may be used. To be honest it's a formation I do like to watch but it only works well if you can do something with the ball.

I thought that but with the gayle signing and Mellon talking about his option as a full back I'm not so sure. I'm wondering if more of a 4231 might be used.

Summerfield one wing and Richards the other, GT would never stray from his ways.

Summerfield one wing and Richards the other, GT would never stray from his ways. without being ageist would you say that was all he knew from his era ? Some of his techniques obviously worked as he managed to get us promoted. I bumped into one player on a night out and I was speaking to him about GT and he said "he's a very old school manager, quite different to other managers I've had in the past". I think some of GT's methods most definitely worked at League 2 level but his methods got found out at League 1 level e.g training,4-4-2 week in week out regardless of who we are playing, performance analyst (MM has one), over reliance on loans and lack of recruitment. His stubborness was his main weakness for me though.

We often played 4-5-1 (or a variation of) away from home.

Yeah we did last season but I put that mainly down to a lack of strikers We did it a lot in his first season, and also the first season in League One. I've been reading back through some old programmes - in the Southend programme from 2010 Sean McAllister credits the teams tactical flexibility and a change in formation for improved results on the road after a sticky spell of dropped points! The 4-4-2 or bust myth simply isn't true.

The 4-4-2 or bust myth simply isn't true. Fair enough. Probably just sticks in mind due to us not changing it when it was obvious like when I mentioned the 4 CM's playing. Turner was a good manager who had his faults, poor recruitment (in league 1) being the main downfall. His first 2 seasons are the most enjoyable I have had as a town fan.

just hope we do not play 1 up front. let us not expect too much, but a win is a win.

Cannot wait to see what today brings. Not sure if much will be resolved today in terms of starting 11 or formation but we should get a hint of the brand of football MM want us to play.
I'm fully expecting him to adopt the same principles as GT. Looking to impose our quality on the opposition and playing attractive, flowing football.
