Given that it is several days since the new ticket price bombshell was dropped, I am surprised a definitive explanation has not been forthcoming from the club, as clearly there are many queries that need clarification. I was served by Greg Douglas, the new Ticket Office Manager today when I bought our tickets for the friendly games. It was busy at the club (good to see), but I managed to have a little bit of a chat about the Flexi Tickets. Greg agreed there is a lot still to be conveyed to the fans with the finer points, but it is his hope to provide full details by this time next week, before he goes for a weeks holiday. I said to Greg that we have had a history of poorly communicated schemes that appear to lack a full thoughts process before being released and he stated that, going forward, it is his hope that this will cease to be the case and things will be thought through properly before being released. I have to say he came across as very likeable and very enthusiastic. As Glyn has said, both Greg and Matt need bedding in time to get used to what has gone on before and take things forward.

Matt said it'd be interesting the first time they faced a situation of disagreement with the fanbase.
Well this is it, and we'll all be stronger for it.

So, as an adult who travels down 2 or 3 times pre Xmas, then generally 3 or 4 in the latter part of the season, buying for an under 11, an under 16, myself and 1 pensioner, any idea of initial outlay to use the flexi thing? Cos I'm not sure meself and not yet sure how to explain coughing up a few hundred quid to buy tickets for a few games next April to the missus. Perhaps Matt will make the call for me? Consider it part of the new wave of customer liaison?

Sure it is a good idea as a supplemental plan to help the fan base be able to make significant savings on attending games. But as a stand alone? To answer your question on total cost for the 4 of you, I'm not entirely sure as this is still one of the grey areas we have as to whether additional juniors are free (as they have been in recent seasons) or if you now pay for them. If you are paying for additional juniors, then the most sensible way of doing it would be 1 adult with a junior aged 12-16, which is £110 Cat B for the 5 game plan. A junior U/11 would be £19 and a senior £65. Add to that four times membership of £5 and you are looking at a total outlay of £214

The carnage dished out by the fixture computer which put paid to my usual trips to Morc, Accy, Bury etc meant I would be looking to visit the GM much more than I've done in previous years. So the timing of these changes isn't ideal.
I'll have to look at the membership card and 5 game ticket combo I guess. Much preferred the dynamic pricing structure which allowed greater flexibility.
Hope these decisions don't in anyway derail the progress we've made over the summer.

Try ringing Greg

Thanks for the maths belleview. I think it's worth looking at doing a few more away instead. That's a big outlay for only a couple of games pre Xmas. Not that much difference in fuel costs home or away and more variety. a bit of pondering to do.

Club listens to fan's thoughts on recent ticket announcement Following discussions internally and with the members of the Supporters Parliament Shrewsbury Town can confirm they have revised the clubs ticketing policy for the forthcoming season. Town Chief Executive Matt Williams explains: “We have had several discussions with members of the Supporters Parliament in respect of our ticketing policy for the forthcoming season. “It is important that we listen to our customers and act accordingly and as a result, we have decided to extend the final discount period for season tickets until the start of the season. Equally it is vital for the club that we do not alienate our season ticket holders by adopting match day ticket prices that are cheaper than the average cost of a season ticket. “As a result we have been able to review our match day admission prices for the new season and have decided not to proceed with the membership scheme and our match day prices will be cheaper than they were for the 2013/14 season. “We have also introduced a five game flexi ticket for supporters and we can confirm supporters who purchase tickets after they have completed their flexi ticket will be able to purchase additional tickets at the reduced rate. “As a club we are able to run eight ticket promotions in a season, four exclusively to home supporters and four to both home and away supporters. We are currently discussing which games we should target and further announcements will be made throughout the season.” To view the club’s matchday ticket prices click here, to view the club’s season ticket prices click here - Matchday Ticket Prices 2014-15 Read more at www.shrewsburytown.com/news/article/15jul14-revised-the-clubs-ticketing-policy-1760877.aspx#R4RaXReIBRxfrYPS.99

Am I being paranoid when I think this was all just a big PR exercise designed to make it look like the fans are being listened to?
It would have been outrageous to charge more after a relegation and I don't think anyone at the club would have been stupid enough to give it any kind of serious thought.

Haha, I must admit that when the original prices were announced I thought I wonder if the club will reduce prices and it will be a glorious PR exercise. I prefer to think we are far too cynical but even if it is true its nice to see the club doing a PR exercise which doesnt end up being a disaster!! Well done to the powers that be at STFC

Frankly the embarrassing U-turn could and should have been avoided.
Hopefully leads to better consultation before decisions like these are taken.

Fair play to the club, I'm truly chuffed to read this. Got to say, this summer has been a bit of a positive revelation so far, long may it continue.

I don't think it is embarrasing at all and puts the club in good light Reminds me of political u-turns and depending on who your a supporter of will determine your viewpoint. The government is either listening to the people and prepared to admit they are wrong rather than stubbornly continuing with a stupid policy. Or they were idiotic to introduce the policy without giving it proper thought and backtracking is admission of this

Whether it was an error of judgement or a 'test the water' exercise, the speed that the issue has been addressed as a response to the fans concerns is all that matters to me. The damage has been limited and the end result is a positive one. Nothing embarrassing there to me either Fred.

All summer the vibe has been good and the communication clear.
This was a bolt out of the blue when it happened.
Today is much more in keeping with the tone and action of the last few weeks and for that reason I for one think this is the real 'them' and it is lessons learned all round.
I can watch footie at a price I can invite my mates to and we've got rid of that awful pay on the day surcharge.
And we've got a club that listens.
Life is good folks, let's enjoy it!

The only problem I have now, is I have to find a new stick to beat the club with.
As with players, we have an all new backroom staff. It will take time to bed in.

Excellent. The club will probably recoup some of the revenue through increased attendances.
