Fair play Downie. Carlsberg don't do internet trolls who really misunderstand their brief but if they did then you would currently work for Carlsberg. No brief to mis-understand

If the Yes vote were to get 85% + and the club were to turn round and say that less than 50% of the registered supporters had voted in favour of change there would be hell. All the good will of the past few months would go up in smoke. Yes it's quite well known the club read this board and would be aware questions have been asked over the numbers taking part and the % voting yes to bring a change. Ample time for them to state if the position had changed That said I am confident from what the reps have said that its a straight majority from those voting, and am sure the club realise this. Also we seem to have a commercially astute chief exec who realises the heap off dog doo our current badge is and how poorly it represents the club in the commercial world. Am pretty confident clippy will be gone soon. If not I sure wont be.

I believe we will be looking around 1,200 votes altogether, if thats the case then thats 25% of our fanbase (based on our last home game). I would argue that isnt a bad return considering the vote was was mainly outside of the football season, there hasnt been much publicity about it from the club itself and then there have been issues such as fans not being given voting slips.
In terms of the percentage debtate, I really cant see how you can do it on anything other than those who have voted. If you say it must be minimum of 50% of our fans then how do you define what is a fan? Average home crowd? Number of people with a supporters number? Number of people who went to Wembley?
I have no doubt that if it is a 'Yes' vote based on 1,200 votes then there will be a small number of people who say its a farce because the majority of fans didnt vote and therefore didnt want a change. What I would compare it to is the Scottish Independence vote, that is similar in asking people if they want a change. But with them its clear that the majority vote will win, it is not based on a majority AND only if a certain percentage of the population vote. People have the opportunity to vote, if they dont then they cant complain about the outcome.
The wording is ambiguous from the club but unfortunately we have come to expect that with any sort of statment from them.

Is it just me or is there another demographic in all this...
There is the people who want to see the badge changed. There are also those people who like and want to keep the current clip art. Then there is the people who really aren't that bothered. And then there are the people who aren't really bothered...as long as you lot don't get your way...
For whatever reason, like. No idea. I don't understand why but they're about aren't they? Schade schade...

Quite simply , the intention was that the vote result would be based on the majority of those fans voting.
During discussions it was agreed it was that it was in everybodys interests that as many fans as possible got involved and encouraged to vote. To this end it was suggested to the club (and agreed I thought !) that they would hand out voting slips with season tickets ,handed out at the gates and emailed from the clubs database. As we know one out of three (and that sporadically !)happened so the club have only themselves to blame if they consider too few fans have voted .

Some people have a bizarre obsession with constantly reminding us just how little they care about the issue. We get it.

I can't see Matt Williams turning around and saying we have to stick with the clip-art in the event of a victory for the "Yes" vote. He'll want to preside over record shirt sales no doubt; if he gives us the Loggerheads badge on a well designed blue and amber striped shirt he will get that.

It will all be resolved soon enough. This time tomorrow we will certainly have have something new to to discuss be it yes or no...... Personally I cant believe I have kept the result secret for so long! I will give you one result though, someone the time to get a paper form and put a new box on it and next to that put "Not Bothered" - Fair play to that commitment.

Evidently considering the time and effort needed to do that. Like I say above, some strange folk about who just seem to enjoy being difficult...

It would be fascinating to know how many people consider themselves Salop fans if asked the question - 10,000? 20,000? more? As evidenced by B&A we have plenty of members who are STFC throughout but are unlikely to see a game this season. Regardless, to get 1,200 supporters to participate in this vote is a good effort and the organisers should be congratulated on that - top work guys :)

If it's like a general election, it will be interesting to see how many spoilt papers there are by putting something really stupid.
i.e., "I like the comedy lion".

now the vote has been won, our thoughts turn to what badge replaces clippy. most want a return to the loggerheads and a "floreat Salopia" badge. hopefully the town council will be consulted and persuaded to allow the club to use their badge,. on all our kit and regalia, and the design must be trademarked to prevent copies.
I look forward to actually buying something in the club shop, avoiding any stampede.
