Know first hand what a vile and cruel disease this is!
My very best wishes to Colin and his family. The gesture mentioned in the link of an applause speaks volumes about what high regard he is held.

I think I'm right in remembering driving back from Carlisle 12-13 years ago dropping people off on the way - and Ant, and I'm sure it was Colin, got dropped off in Preston. Any ways, my thoughts are with you Colin. That's right Richard - Colin was at uni in Preston and I was staying over before training it back to London the next morning - 1-0 Jemson win wasn't it? www.11v11.com/matches/carlisle-united-v-shrewsbury-town-20-november-2001-9895/And Foxie aswell? As mentioned in previous posts, it is a treat to us exiles when Colin is on ShrewsPlayer. Hopefully the Derby fans can give applause and honour a great guy, a great commentator and an all around decent human being.

I think I stopped over at Leyland near Preston at a mates (PNE fan) and got the train back the following morning to Stafford where I was working on a rail contract. I recall Ant referring to Jemsons goal as the type which win you promotions. We just missed the playoffs on the last day that season when we got beat by Luton and then had the relegation the following year! I am sure that's the night you got flashed on the M6 for driving to quick through some roadworks but got away with the speeding ticket as well! Bonus of living across the pond no doubt!

I remember that was a bloody cold night with quite a few Salop fans staying in the Beehive opposite the ground to watch Champions League on ITV - think there were only 60-70 who went in the ground but were rewarded with a fine winner from Jemmo. One of those rare miracles - a midweek away win for the town - lets hope for another miracle for a genuinely decent fella. All the best Col.

I can tell you all for a fact that the messages of support he's getting from everyone are keeping him really positive. As some of you may know me and mike (my brother, Mikelele) have known Colin since we all went to Nursery in Forton as toddlers and been thick as thieves ever since. Everyone who's ever met Colin will have a good story about how nice a bloke he is, and he's always been like that.... Always. The kind words from all around make such a difference an it's been great to see football fans from across the country backing him,
As Milkyjoe has pointed out a bunch of his friends are currently raining money for Melanoma UK and urge everyone to contribute to it, the link is a few posts back. I believe STFC will be supporting to some degree in the new season.
I'm popping over to see him later this week, and I know for a fact he will bring this thread up! He truly is a massive town fan but it pails in comparison to how great a mate he is.

I was one of the '60 or 70' in the ground at Carlisle that night and remember Ant introducing me to many B&A'ers, one of whom may have been Colin.
Very sad to learn of such a young man suffering from this cruel illness and my thoughts are with him, his family and friends.

I think that was the one where the official away crowd was something like 83, but I sat there and counted us (twice, exciting game) and it was more like 69. I know some of us were the size of 2, but even so...

To have lost his father and had this terrible news in only matter of days of each other is beyond comprehension.
Listening to him talking about his illness should be an inspiration to many who have experienced/will experience a similar thing.
Keep fighting Colin.

Awful, awful news.
Am I right in thinking that he's defied the odds getting this far?
Fingers crossed he's got one final push in him.
Keep fighting Colin.

That tweet was written by a man with real guts and determination.
Keep on fighting Colin.
