I live in a village where Fibre Optic (FO) has recently come online.
I've looked at signing up for FO with my current Broadband supplier EE but when you compare what their offering to SKY and BT Infinity it is very similar speed wise, 38Mbs from all three, but with what else their able to offer BT Infinity is looking the favourite.
Any one had any horror stories changing over to another supplier?

I am in the middle of a nightmare with Sky at the moment.
I have been a Sky Unlimited Broadband, and Sky Talk customer for 2 years with no problems at all.
I recently decided to upgrade to Sky Fibre and was told by Sky that it was a simple switchover procedure.
My due date for switchover was last Friday (11th) On the day i had a text from Sky saying there was a problem, and on that day my telephone line (and therefore my broadband)stopped working.
After a number of phone calls i was told by Sky that Openreach (BT) would need to check my line and once this was done and fixed my broadband would come back, and then Fibre could be installed.
Today an Openreach engineer turned up at my house and fiddled around a bit, and then the phone line came back and worked. However no broadband came back.
After another hour on the phone to Sky the outcome is that i will not get any internet connection until 29th April. This is because Openreach have started the Fibre install, and killed the broadband connection at the same time.
Because the Fibre connection cannot be completed due to a problem at the exchange (don't believe this at all)the earliest they can get an engineer to solve it is the 29th.
To say i am p**sed off is an understatement and am seriously looking at ditching Sky after over 20 years of having them...

Any one had any horror stories changing over to another supplier? Yes. BT were a living bloody nightmare from sign up to finish. If you decide to go with them then I wish you all the luck and patience in the world and hope your experience is better than ours. One suggestion, if they are doing your head in with foreign call centres and broken promises, slag them to kingdom come on their facebook page, throw in a few twitter insults and it's surprising how quickly you get an increased level of service.

I have been told that Harmer Hill will have fibre over the next few months. As I'm on BT broadband at the moment, I would hope the upgrade to fibre optic would be quite a simple process.
