Two good examples of PR witnessed when visiting Tranmere Rovers on Saturday. First when my pal & I went to the ticket office, on display was a notice stating that because the fans had had to put up with such a struggle this season the club had decided to "reduce" the cost of season tickets for next season. Outside my friend was greeted by a well dressed gentleman who explained that he was a club director and thanked for us visiting his club. I think our club do miss a lot of opportunities to jolly us fans along, show a bit of appreciation & make the match day more fun. Other clubs seem to do it!

That was the Guy, he made a point of stopping Salop fans and thanking them for being there.

Unless you were wearing a suit and tie RW wouldn't go anywhere near you.

How patronising. You can (without wishing to sound harsh) keep all the jollying, the appreciation and fun, and just give me a half decent team I can be proud of. And when I say proud I don't just mean winning titles or having cup runs, I mean has our own players in, a few home grown lads, beats our local rivals sometimes, looks like it matters when we loose and wears a badge that says Shrewsbury not f in Kenya!! The rest of you can go shake some strangers hand.

On the flip side Tranmere were the latest guilty culprits to make anyone wanting a concessions ticket (or a young person ticket at any rate,) walk all the way to the ticket office at the opposite side of the ground. It’s a clear attempt to try and deter you from bothering, and just cough up the full adult cost instead.

Only guessing here but I suspect they only have one ticket office and they just want to be sure that people picking up a concessions ticket are eligible for it?

I think the directors should be more visible in the sovereign club tapping up those fans.
I'm not sure I need James Hughes selling programmes to feel valued.

Gosh! I'll have to watch my inflammatory language next time I make an observation on here. Patronising

Gosh! I'll have to watch my inflammatory language next time I make an observation on here. Patronising As I said, I don't want to sound harsh. I'm not having a go at you at all. But to suggest that shaking hands with someone from the club will jolly me along, is, well, patronising. Here you go sunny, here's a lolly, now run along!

I personally can't see why the young chap who served me at the ticket office that I trecked round to was any more qualified to assess my eligibility than any of the numerous turnstile operators in the away end. I'm sure that your thoughts will be what clubs use as their official line, but I'm sure the fact that they know full well that many won't bother (and who can blame them, when I turned up a full twenty-five minutes before kick off and only just caught the beginning) plays a large part in the decision as well.
