Although only our second preseason game, the reports from last night suggests that GT has put together one of the best group of midfield players that we have had in many a season. Over the last few years the midfield has often been a source of concern, not anymore by all accounts. What a great position to be in

Lets wait and see - hopefully it will be better but we are in a league now where most other teams will be better too

There doesn't look to be any passengers in there.
Young Woods looked good last night as well.

Since the minute GT took action in the January transfer window following the very poor 3-1 loss at Oxford in 2011, the midfield area/players/options have not been a big concern. GT certainly has an eye for a good central midfelder and I'm happy with who he has brought in this time around. Like other parts of the team, it might take time to find the best combination and although I personally favour a right/left footed balance, there are several possible alternatives in the current squad.

In previous seasons we have bemoaned the fact that we have no ball winner in mid-field. We called out for a player who was big, hard and would dominate. Can't say we have that now, but what we do have is players who can play and seem to be very comfortable in possession. Enjoyed watching the mid-field trying to create last night, but GT's problems start with which two he plays together in the middle. So far, for me, it would be Richards and Summerfield. Young Woods came on and did himself proud, well done son. Think we'll be o.k this season. The squad this season is a lot stronger throughout than last years promotion side, with good competition for places from front to back. I know its very very early doors, but the signs are good.
