Following on from the number nines thread, how about keepers. We've had some great keepers over the years but we've also had a few bad ones. I'll start the ball rolling & this is based on the fact that I didn't see Joe Hart play many games as I was an exile in London at the time & my work meant I couldn't attend as many games as I would have liked.
Best - Steve Ogrizovic.
Worst - Steve Perks

Was a good keeper but never thought he was a great keeper Edwards. Always felt it was the back 4 in that promotion season that made him shine....
Best - Joe Hart
Worst - Ian Dunbavin

In terms of keepers who were here a while Id say its a toss up between Tim Clarke & Dunbavin, the latter probably takes it because of amount of games played. Scott Cooksey was pretty disasterous and for comedy effort Il mention Benny Gall
Obviously Joe has to be number 1 but always liked the look of Shearer & Howie, two solid keepers

Judging by the heroes' reception he received a few months ago, I'm surprised that Dunbavin hasn't once been nominated as a good goalkeeper.
Made my blood boil. Shame on all who clapped.

Apart from the obvious Joe Hart: Bob Wardle, Steve Perks, OGGY.
The worst: Ron Green, Bob Tooze, Chris Neal.

Unreal.

Think you are on the wrong thread mate...................... Best - Hart, Oggy, honourable mention for Mulhearn. Worst - Dunflapping & Cartwright (no wonder we went down having both of them at the same time)

For me Perks was an average keeper. Not as good as the few we had had before (Oggy, Wardle, Mulhearn) but better than the likes of Green (1st time round), Cartwright, Dunbo and Ken Hughes

Unreal. As you have said, everyone is entitled etc etc but i thought Steve Perks was one of our best keepers. Anyway, nicely put. My opinion of Perks was probably spoilt by the very good goalkeepers that preceded him & just seem to remember he was dreadful at leaving his line. As I said, for a period of at least 15 years I was only able to make at most 5 games a season & couldn't form an opinion, though at times I saw some pretty dire football all round. There have been a couple of keepers that I can agree with like Ron Green & grizzlyshrew mentions Ken Hughes - the name I was trying to remember, wasn't he back up to Perks? Those two at the club at the same time.......... From the few games that I saw Joe Hart play, I knew he was destined to go far

Best: - Hart, Oggy, Mulhearn, Wardle
Worst Paul Edwards, hoew many goals did he give away with his atrocious kicking and mad dashes out of the area to miss the ball by miles.

Surprised no mention of Chris "You got chipped" Mckenzie for worst.
I think people are being unfair to say Garner and he became a Peters Scapegoat in the end. He always seemed a nice chap and had a decent dive on him

Best :- Wardle, Oggy, Mulhearn. Hart was still very young when he left here and was far from the finished article, although obviously showed lots of potential. Alan Humphries was also a good keeper and was an England under 23 player. Worst:- Clarke, Tooze, McKenzie sand Smith, who was slightly inferior to Neal.
Others : perks and Edwards were ok shot stoppers but weak on crosses. Garner may have had a good dive but it didn't often end up making contact with the ball, as he was probably beaten from outside the box more than any Town keeper in my memory John Phillips never impressed me but Steve Phillips did. Howie was solid but tended to punch balls he could have caught. Shearer was a pretty decent all round keeper who I would have been quite happy to see back here. Dunflappin was exasperating as he had talent but never seemed to apply himself. He kept Edwards out of the Great Escape team and didn't let us down on the day, but was woeful against Chelsea.

Best - Ken Mulhearn by a country mile (Hart was far from the finished article when with us).
Worst - a motley crew consisting of Bob Tooze, Benny Gall, Clarke.

Agree with your top three. Don't think many would remember Alan Humphries, or maybe John Phillips, who was our school goalie by the way. Did well for himself with spells with Chelsea and Villa. Now selling cars in America i believe. Was it Humphries who had the swimming pool accident? Always liked Steve Perks, gave 100% and a local lad to boot. Always thought Goalies were a strange breed. Not too bright, if you get my drift. The older they get, the dafter they become. Just an observation.
