Right, keep going on about how the officials were poor, well I completely agree, but the were consistantly poor and bottled all big decisions!!
1st Sharpes was not sent off for a push to the guys face just after we went 1 up, so we should have been down to 10 men, then obviously the goal that was not!! and the not goal that was!!
2nd was in 60th Minute, Davies should have also been sent off, so we would have been down to 9 men.... now would we have kept it a t 1-1 for the 23 mins it was until Collins was pulled down?? i very much doubt it!!
so yes the officials were poor, but thankfully they were poor all around, and not biased agains t us!!

Good point actually Downie, especially with the 1st one, I thought the skipper was a gonna from block 17 he indeed looked to have a good go back at the Wycombe forward,
it was going on all game though, and you also have to note how Winfield for them managed to stay on

I thought it would have been harsh if Sharps had been sent off - the striker seemed to take away Sharps standing leg as he hooked the ball away. Sharps shouldn't have reacted - but it seemed pretty 50/50 to me.
Davis could and maybe should have gone but by then we should have been two nil up so would surely have survived 23 minutes before the wycombe defender should have been sent off. Davis was booked and it was his first foul I can think off, and he may have reacted to something Ainsworth did on the floor - the ref was in a better decision to see as he was roughly 10-15 yards away.

Trouble is Paul your logic falls down. If the officials had got all the earlier decisions right it would have been 1-0 not 1-1 when Collins was brought down. And would we have kept it at 1-0? Quite possibly!! I do agree they weren`t biased but just bad, but you`ve got to admit the major decisions certainly didn`t go our way.

Great post!!
Sharps by all accounts shoudl of gone, yes it wasnt a goal so things levelled out. If we were playing Bury Chesterfeild Rotherham it would off been over in first half hour.

Many of the decisions today were down to the referee's opinion, as in the case of all matches. Often these can be incorrect.
This still does not alter the fact that when a ball is deemed to cross a line, this is a black and white matter of fact. Today the official (s) got it wrong and in the grand scheme of things changed the result.

I was doing commentary today Paul and I can telly you, I called the Davis one a straight red. Lunacy by the boy. He brought his boot right down on Ainsworth's face and had the winger rolled about like some of 'em do in the big boys league, he would have seen a different colour.

I didn't see Davies' reaction, but worth pointing out that Ainsworth just took him out in order to let the ball tun through to the other Wycombe player, preventing Davies from getting their first.
Should have been a free kick to us.

Not the point Feedo. The ref missed that (sound familair?) so it's irrelevant. He must have seen the 'challenge' when the two of them went to ground otherwise he had no right to produce a card. Another decision he got wrong - just add it to his lengthy list

Does it happen if the goal's not given?

Either way, there's two big decisions there - i disagree with the Sharps one, it would have been soft in the extreme - and two massive decisions in the Collins through on goal one, and Harrold winning a penalty but not.
What "evens up" the goal?
There was ONE scandalous decision in this game. A whole multitude of bad ones across the board for both teams. But one disgraceful one.

It looked to me as if Sharps pushed in the chest not his face.

I'm sorry disallowing a goal for offside that isn't, and giving a goal that wasn't doesn't even up 2 possible sendings off, plus they should have had a player off at the end. Sharps probably should have gone but he was raked down the calf, the lino saw it and did nothing, and I'm convinced after talking to the ref at half time he gave the offside to make up for it. Davis should have gone as well, but he reacted to a blatant push off the ball and being held down which wasn't given. I'm not defending what they did but I haven't seen any evidence of decisions evening out over the season, they just seem to get worse. The most amazing thing today was that they were not given a pen

All in all, we've been denied a deserved win by a biased ref. The two sendings off that may have been do not make up for the succession of decisions that went against us. It's bloody hard enough to get out of this division without having the officials to cope with. This and the penalty given for Vale that wasn't has cost us an automatic promotion place at the moment. It's about time we had some luck and a few penalties.

We also keep moaning about not getting penalties.......... well we wont when we dont put players in the box.
Take the full time incident, where the lino flagged and ref blew up.
We were pushing foer the win, with possession 20 yards in there half, 1 lone player in the box!! just the 1............. not 5 or 6 , that was harrold and he was only a pace inside the box!!, the defenders were pushing up, but we were not pressuring them back!!

If we had a decent ref in our last 2 home games then we would be looking pretty good for automatic at the moment with 4 extra points and with a point knocked off Wycombe's.
Sharps's was arguable, pushing someone in the throat is not a red IMO. Face and yes it would be. As for Davis it was just a case of 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.
We were robbed, all the major decisions went Wycombe's way.
4 major decisions didn't go our way which were stonewall.
Collins goal was onside, and I think it flicked of a Wycombe defender on it's way to Collins anyway.
Their disgraceful 'goal' which wasn't even touching the line.
Collins being chopped down when he was the last man. Defender never touched the ball and should have been a red card for the offender.
The linesman gave us a penalty, but as soon as the ref saw he had done so, he blew for full time early.
We were robbed, not lucky. I'll have a go and say that this could well have cost us promotion. When I saw this thread on the main board I thought it was made by a Wycombe fan.

I'm confused. Are you saying that this particular incident wasn't a penalty because the ref conducted a quick poll, involving only players inside the penalty area, and we lost out because Harrold was outnumbered?

No hippo, I am saying we very rarely have numbers or indeed players in the box as to be fouled to get a penalty!! again this is an opinion!!

Heard a young lad on Radio Slop on the way home last night....quote "The FA need to sit down and investigate why Shrewsbury are not getting any penalties"....
Made me laugh that one.
The fact that people are screaming on here "I'm hurt more than anyone else" also makes me laugh....
Don't you just love footy.....

Davies incident was half and half, yellow card for each player to me. Same for Sharps really, both players equally as bad

What confused me about the final minute penalty incident, is that the assistant referee seemed to give it and was about to tell the referee about it when he blew the final whistle. Law 7 - The Duration of the Game states that, "Additional time is allowed for a penalty kick to be taken at the end of each half or at the end of periods of extra time." I think yesterday's ref forgot this important fact.

Sharps and Davies both very fortunate not to get reds and then the list of incidents that the officials got wrong just seemed to spiral out of control following that. Goal was not a goal and he bottled the last min penalty big style.
Sometimes football is a little bit about getting the refs on your side meaning you get those 50/50 decisions particularly at home, this often takes big characters with a bit of experience who now how to work a ref so to speak.......Sharpy did nowt but chirp in the refs ear all game about various incidents yesterday which doesnt help and i dont see any other players in our team with enough off to do this successfully. A lack of penalties and "rub of the green" would back this up.
