A very scr@ppy game that featured some really high quality goals. Northampton looked best in the first half, the Shrews best in the 2nd half. Stand out performers for me were Wroe, Sherriff, Sharps, Taylor, Collins and (as always) Sadler. Wright had his moments, but sometimes it was if we were interrupting his afternoon nap. Is he in a sulk about something? Thought the ref had a pretty good game, but a little too whistle happy. Great away following by the looks of it. 6-700?
Absolutely fantastic result. Tuesday will be very tasty, gutted I'm not going.

Tasty indeed. We have sold just over 900 as of this morning, a couple of hundred more after todays game too I would imagine so the 1,300 will be sold out come Tuesday afternoon. Any UNBIASED predictions anyone? I'll set the ball rolling with 2-1 to the Vale.........

OK, maybe not, one things for SURE whoever wins it all looks like going down to the final game May time? I recon Bury will join Chesterfield leaving one auto spot but that may change if we beat them at home in a couple of weeks time...........

I fancy a draw Tuesday night.
Just back myself. 4 good quality goals. Then credit to SCS for the winner, he was on the deck and even then managed to get a foot in to stop them clearing the ball and Taylor was in the right place at the right time to put the ball in the net, the keeper was unsighted. I thought first half Northampton shaded it but even then we still didn't panic and tried to play. I think it was vital we equalised so quickly after there 1st or it could have been a different story. Second half and think we played the better football but we also looked fitter than them and I think that was the difference the last 20 minutes. MOM for me was Nicky Woe, I think I dictated our play second half and was very busy.

What a fantastic game, end to end with some of the best goals I have seen for a long time.
Credit to Salop for battling through a tough match, could have gone either way but when Taylor hit the net....simply fantastic emotions amongst the fans.
Great crowd today, great performance.
For me Rowe MOM. Well done Salop

Sounded great on the radio. Pre-match all the omens were against us but fair play to both teams, it sounded as if they played some pretty good stuff and the quality of the goals were top notch. Now let's hope for a win on tuesday (though it'll most likely be a draw).

a brilliant brilliant game - end to end and some high quality goals (including both Northampton's which we equally outstanding). All told a great advert for league two footy and a superb three points for - the emotions when Taylor scored I've not felt in a long time.
Stand out for me were the midfield two - Davies and Wroe. Taylor worked very hard and Wright was willing. Ainsworth was perhaps the one disappointment and really should have scored the winner when clean through although won the corner from it that Taylor scored from.
It's games like that, and the prospect of such enjoyment, that keep you going again and again despite the usual dross.

Battling game, great character to come from behind twice with quick replies. 5 goals of the highest calibre, first goals at Sixfields, first win at Sixfields, can't complain

Also how did Grandison play today? Northampton's 2nd was definitely a deliberate goal in my eyes - cut inside, and hit it - was an outstanding finish. Grandison was his usual marauding self - heart in mouth sometimes when you see him run but always a joy to see.

Grandison's injury time run culminating in winning a free-kick on the edge of the box was, goals aside, the moment of the day

What a game today. Match could have gone either way, both teams were battling to win today. Five great goals today. Well done to the players today, it was a team performance. We responded well both times when we went behind and worked hard to get a winner. Kept going right to the end today. Jon Taylor, James Collins, David Davis, Nicky Wroe, SCS & Ian Sharps especially all had good games today. Really enjoyed it today. Roll on Port Vale on Tuesday

Superb, fans and players. In all honesty we played far better first half against Bury than we did today, we had to bounce back which we did, but didnt really get going til right before HT.
Second half the same, having to bounce back, battled and did just that, this time performance improved with it - due to confidence back and the arrival of Ainsworth. Lionel wasn't brilliant, one great turn an exception, but his height meant the rest began to pass it rather than the easy hoof upfield in hope like we do with Harrold up there.
All fantastic goals from both teams, but we ultimately had the extra quality to see it out and win the game, just like Bury did to us Tuesday.
Huge three points and another goal for Jon Taylor - when will the lad stop? Well, never I hope!

Never got a full time call from Radio Shropshire so will give my summation on here.
Game could have gone either way, credit to Salop for bouncing back so quickly after both goals. All the goals today were crackers, excellent finishes or good build up play. Was a great game to watch and an awful game to lose. We could have lost, Northampton did have some good chances from within the box.
We look better play 4-5-1/4-4-1-1 after HT, was Harold injured or was it a tactical move?
The two bookings of Wroe and SCS were harsh, JT got booked for taking his top off, thats in the rules so cannot argue that.
All in all great result and considering Northampton had only lost 2 at home prior to this week and were playing to impress their new manager this was a great win.

Another good showing from Smudga Smith again today, absolutely nothing he could do with 2 wonder strikes and he's becoming more confident and better with each game.
A much improved game for Collins whose finish for the second was just awesome, managed to avoid getting caught offside so often today too which was a bonus.
Nicky Wroe was again busy and involved in so much and together with Davis broke so much of NTFCs play up.
Don't think I'll ever see another game with 5 stunning finishes for goals, a very entertaining afternoon.

Disagree Sam, he is very vocal and very loud and certainly not afraid to let his defenders know what he thinks and he caught every single cross that came his way today as he did on Tuesday, still not a finished article but a huge improvement on what came before him this season.

thought Smith dealt well with all the crosses came his way. Don't think I've ever seen such great goals in the same game. First time I've seen taylor and he was my MOM - some great crosses into dangerous areas and awesome strike for the winner. Also Sharps marshalled defence brilliantly. kept playing football on a difficult pitch and just about deserved the win though could have gone either way. great atmoshpere and support from fans.

What a good game. Felt a bit like Wycombe away but with the last minute drama going our way this time. We really tried to pass it on a tricky surface and kept our calm after their 2 terrific goals. Wroe, my man of the match, a proper central midfielder player who gives us an extra dimension and makes us less predictable going forward. Pleased to hear that it looks like Davies is staying: great combination in the middle of the park

Brilliant end to end game today! Thought it was about even in the first half, the second half there only looked one winner and that was us. Five of the highest quality goals you're likely to see in one match, pleased for Collins who played well and deserved a goal. Great team display from everybody today, have to give man of the match to Wroe. Another excellent performance from him, he has set himself very high standards to stick to. Davies alongside him had an excellent game, with a very tidy goal. Mentions also to Smith and Sharps who had very good games. Having Sharps back there made such a difference, we didn't really look like conceding when they got the ball in our box. Also nice to see Wright looking something like his old self.
Great win today, but we are only as good as our next game, three points a must against Vale.

Still plenty of times Sharps and Shane had a go at him for not communicating enough. As I say, impressive in every other department, and still plenty of time to improve. I still wouldn't rule Chris Neal out of becoming a decent lower league keeper either.

Correction Hoover Smith dropped one in the first half, but atill very assured.
Love the look of this Grandison, he set the ball rolling for the move that led to our first goal.
Looks very awkward and I'm not sure how good he is defensively but by God give him the bloody ball. A joy to watch him taking on two players at a time, step overs, drag backs, jinking little turns.
I'd have to say Taylor, always looking for the ball and looking to get involved, always looking to attack his man, chasing everything down, creating chances and scored the winner.

Really enjoyed today's game and hopefully would have said that even if we hadn't grabbed the winner.
Whilst it was a credit to league 2 the game would have been even better with a ref who allowed the game to flow a little more than the man in the middle today. Also the pitch was an odd one - it looked like a bowling green at the start of the match but there was some really strange bounces which meant misplaced passes etc.
Thought it could have gone either way but we won it because we were fitter and passed it better in the final third.
Sharps, SCS, Wroe, Davies, Sadler, Taylor and Collins stood out. Smith is definitely improving game on game, Grandison was his usual self and had his work cut out up against their best player. Harrold put in a good shift until he had to go off. Wrighty drifted in and out of the game but got stronger as the game went on. Lionel got in some good positions and was unlucky on a couple of occasions (one good save from the keeper and another one was blocked by a defender)

Just want to emphasise I am not criticising Smith or saying he doesn't deserve his place in the team, just one area of his game I think could do with some real improvement!

556 from Shrews. Was right behind their second goal. Superb shot even eclipsed the lad's opener. Taylor's 4th best of the day and still a cracker! Wasn't the brilliant game most on here talk about but was full of incident and plenty of shots on goal. Thought Wroe gotr better as the game went on, SCS did well after that early booking and Smith definitely our best goalkeeper. On the flip side, Jermaine's defending wasn't his best today, Wright looked largely uninterested and Lionel conceded possession too many times. Collins worked hard and JT in flashes looked a threat. Great character in the side on that display - we need more of the same on Tuesday night
