Okay then so if you would object to Shrewsbury getting promoted thats fine. While im watching my side play at Charlton Sheffield Wednesday and Southampton I'll spare a thought for Shrewsbury as they continue to pick the ball out the back of the net at the likes of Macclesfield Accrington and Stevenage. Love Kopthis xXx You still refuse to comment on the fact you were nowhere to be seen on here untill a bit of money came along. I think when you start playing some properly big sides with big away followings you will realise your not as big as you think you are... Forest > County.

It's the beginning of a Notts County Empire folks. Next we rename the rugby club Notts County RFC. Then comes the cricket club - Notts CCC. After that, Notts County Panthers Ice Hockey Club.
Then we invade Poland.
And yes southstandshrew, Oliver Bierhoff did play for Ascoli that day - in fact I think he scored their goal.

My egg chasing friend tells me that Nottingham Rugby club nearly folded a few years back with large debts, and are still loosing money even whilst playing at Meadow Lane, so presumably Notts County have also taken on these debts as well? Very charitable of them but I'd be a bit annoyed if my football club started helping out a rugby club.
Presumably the Notts chairman is keen to build a sporting empire in that part of the city where land values would be very high.

Haha, nice try Matt. Though Notts County FC (and therefore Ray Trew, the owner) owns the Meadow Lane stadium, they don't own the land it stands on, Nottingham City Council own it and lease it to the club. But please don't let the facts interfere with your conspiracy theories.

But please don't let the facts interfere with your conspiracy theories. Thank goodness there isn't a major funding crisis in local governemnt then! Always assumed the land belonged to the club and thats what allows them more flexibility with the finances as the land value would be an assett, much like the Gay Meadow/New Meadow Land value has been to us. Presumably the land has a covenant on it to stop development? Do the Council own the land the cricket club and Nottingham Forest is on too? Suspisions about Mr Trews motives aside I've always thought the Meadow Lane/City Ground/Trent Bridge area must be heaven for a sports fan. You could go to a game in Nottingham every sunday and cricket through the summer.

I frequent Nottingham quite often
remind me where the Jimmy Sirrel statue is in the centre of Nottingham or indeed the Les Bradd one...
Give my regards to Bunny and Cotgrave

Then we invade Poland. You can buy up all the sports clubs in the area. You can invade all the countries you like But you still won't ever be the top football club in your own damn town - that must REALLY P1$$ you lot off I guess

remember that Nottingham Rugby club are a bigger fish in the rugby world than County are in football, and if the rugby club were to get into the Guinness Premiership then Trew might forgwt about the football and cancetrate on the rugby? remember Sale and Stockport County how that has turned around so that Sale are the big fish now.
Also Kopthis forgot to mention County had to cancel their friendly today against Arnold Town as they haven't got a big enough squad to field a team!!!
