I note most premiership clubs have now banned them. Trust our lot to see £ notes first (if its true the Club shop is selling them). If people think that incessant drone creates atmosphere your wrong, its just an unpleasant noise. I remember when we used to sing songs and clap hands, things are changing for the worse if we need a vuvuzela to create an atmosphere. Scaramanga - I sent this thread to the club yesterday so that they could see what people thought - even extreme opinions such as yours are worthy of consideration. I've had an email back today from Wayne Indup himself who owns VUVUK, with reference to the singing aspects of your post: " Dear Mr Gilmour, Jon Harris, Entertainments manager at Shrewsbury Town FC, has forwarded your email on to me, including the various comments on your forum - as he says, there are some "uniquely talented" characters on there! The concerns about Vuvuzelas are obviously in the public domain at the moment, and we have been saddened by the response of many Premiership clubs to the latest craze to sweep the sporting world. Luckily, we have several flagship clubs, Shrewsbury Town being probably the foremost, who have come on board with VUVUK to make the most of the instrument commercially and aurally. The club's order, and probable follow-up order will help them massively in terms of profitability, with a potential profit margin of up to 600%, and we feel sure the campaign will turn the Prostar (sic) into the most intimidating home atmosphere in League 2. We appreciate the concerns made by forum users about the lack of singing in tandem with the Vuvuzelas, but we feel that singing will rapidly become an outdated practice when people become accustomed to the resonating blast of the horn. We are also seeing a huge increase in "Tribal-style" dancing at European games, and feel that this is likely to catch on in the English leagues. As a STFC fan I'm sure you agree that the cold night at Burton Albion will be alot warmer with 1000 fans gyrating to a cacophony of sound. Should you, or any of your e-friends wish to discuss things further, please contact me at your convenience. I have sent the first of the STFC branded "Jumbozela" to Mr Harris at the club to hold for collection by yourself. Thankyou fpor your interest in VUVUK. Yours Sincerely, Wayne Indup Chief Executive, VUVUK" I think alot of what he says is pretty exciting, and again, I'm glad to see the club stealing a march on our league 2 rivals.

I really hope vuvuzelas aren't banned. Blocks 8 & 9 is a great idea, then if you want to sing then you can in another block. From what I hear, they're not as bad in person as they are on TV.

Good response and glad the club is on board.
Singing section and Vuvuzela section although lets face it the singing section hasn't exactly got off the ground yet. Perhaps the Vuvuzela's will lift them?
On a side note, what do people want from a matchday experience? If it's to sit in silence then I think perhaps a re-think is required. Nothing better than when the stadium is rocking and the Vuvuzela will help it.
Definitely better in person than viewed on TV, the difference is huge. Get the enjoyment back into the game and the GM - blow your vuvuzelas!

Dear DaveG
I am bound to say that is exactly what a man trying sell them to our Club would say. He was hardly likely to agree with me. Does it not ring a few alarm bells that our Club is the only one buying them?
I fear the clubs desire for a fast buck may well end in tears, and be a financial disaster if these toys drive people away rather than to games. There has already been comments on here about fans taking the law into there own hands if they are blown by them.
All I know is that my enjoyment of Tuesdays game at Wxm was affected by one of the toys approx 30-40 yards away.
So message to Mr Harris - think very carefully before buying these toys, you may well be storing up a whole lot of trouble.
Just a thought!

I can't believe some of you clowns have bought into Dave's post. It's a clear wind-up.
Fingers - give your head a shake.
