Town include Dan Smith in midfield, not sure if this is the same lad who was playing for Truro until recently?

0.0 at half time according to shrews official site, attendance 2046 inc 255 from Coventry, so not really catching the imagination of shrewsbury folk and/or the ticket prices put people off.

Leslie missed a penalty! Little bit of debate between him and Harrold about who would take it.

Finished 0-0. Elsewhere, Crewe beat Blackpool 1-0. Holloway just been on SSN moaning about the Joma cup and the fact his lads are 'dead on their feet'. He didn't expect to get to the final apparently... He must be a tad surprised they are in the Premiership then!

Well I'm just back from the match - No.6 played with Sharps in defence - He made a couple of errors. I don't think we should sign him really but its only one game.
I quite enjoyed the game, one touch football at the start was a joy to watch and we were a real threat whenever we came forward. I thought it was worth the £5 entrance fee myself. Mark Wright man of the match for me, he was fantastic on the wing. There was a little argument over who should've took the penalty. I thought before that Harrold should take it. Keeper didn't catch it that well and it looked like it might've rolled in but it didn't. Mallets back and noisier than ever as well.

Sherriff only got on in midfield again, Saturday's team will be interesting I am sure penalties will be Harrold's in future I think Optimistic Shrew is very optimistic about Mark Wright, I am hoping to see a lot more from him Dan Smith looked taller than 5' 10"

Enjoyed the match, even though paying £10 was a p**s take. My own views, as follows; SHARPS Excellent player. Good Captain, reads the game well, good in air, always organising the defence. RAVEN/SADLER Both steady full backs. Raven more attack minded than Sadler. Will do a job, but still prefer HOLDEN to SADLER at right back. MATT HARROLD. Holds the ball up well. Big, strong forward who will win his share of headers for the little men to run onto. Better overall than HIBBO MARK WRIGHT Impressive. Very fast, but not as fast as HUMPHREYS. Could be called "Humphreys" with brains. Can beat a player, skilful and can cross a ball. Excellent addition to the squad. SMITH??? Played o.k. Looked to impress and would make a useful squad player, but will not oust S.C.S. from his place alongside SHARPS. ROBINSON looked very sharp, fit, and a constant menace. Can see him doing well for us, if given a run of games. V.D.B. came on as a sub. and started where he left off last season. Full of running, fast and very promising. Could be a star. The rest were as last year, same old, same old. LESLIE was o.k. but with his talent, does not seem to have made the jump from a basic squad player, to a really good player. Will we ever get to see the real Steven LESLIE, I have my doubts. LUCAS NEAL. Only a late sub so cannot be too critical, but complete s**tE. OVERALL. Town played well, kept the ball, and played football, not hoofball. Very pleasing to see, STEVE CROSS commented that we out passed Coventry, and we did. Big improvement on last year and will get better. Still need better quality in centre mid, and maybe a wide left sided player. If Harrald gets injured we have no back up, unless BRIGHT comes back a shows what he can do, i have faith. Believe the little players up front can score goals for us, along with VDB, but cannot see BRADSHAW being with us all season. Lots to look forward to, looking forward to the game on SATURDAY.

Was impressed by tonight. If we can carry on playing like that once season starts we could be real contenders. Wright is very pacy... can see him running rings round defence. Sharps was leading the team well and the rest of the defence looked solid. Harrold and Robinson both looking good. As for the No. 6 he definitely needs signing... my MOTM

Not a bad game tonight. You would never have known there on the performance there is 2 divisions between the teams.
Impressed with Sharps at the back and Harrold up front with Robinson who was unluckly not to score. The passing ethos advocated by GT was very much on show.
Encouraging signs.

Tell me why was Mark Wright fantastic. How many quality crosses did he get in and how many times did he go past the full back.He did more or less what young Simpson did last year who was lambasted on here.I didn't see one decent cross for Harrold to attack neither full helped much either both Raven and Sadler were poor.Man of the match was Jake Robinson, quick feet, sharp and purposeful.Wright has good pace but does the same as young Jake only quicker but still no end product
