With the club off to Devon I would expect little to be happening in the way of transfer activity in the coming week. I suppose there is an outside chance of an announcement Monday morning but do we think it's going to be another week or so now before we see any new faces? Pity we couldn't have wrapped a few up before leaving for Devon. It is important to get the right players in but from a 'team building' perspective I guess it will be a valuable trip. There's a 3 day gap between the two group games, so I'm guessing GT can always shoot back up to Salop if there's any chance of snapping up someone?

It's an 8 hour round trip with negotiations/ meetings in between and I reckon he sees this trip as a very important part of his pre-season. Just have a feeling we might have a new face on the coach down.

I'm guessing there will be someone left over at the club (maybe someone like Jon Harris?) to complete any new signings if there's any chance then, it would be stupid to miss out on any potential new signings otherwise..... unless GT invites them down to Devon?

I was at the stadium for lunch today, and the coach was preparing to leave for Devon then, so any new faces on the coach, were more likely to be trialists, unless someone has been signed, without our knowledge.

EVERY club in the league is looking for a 20 goal a season man, they are thin on the ground and if you discover one probably too expensive. Any names to suggest ? Symes, Hibbert, Constable and Holt spring to mind. out of those, only Holt has scored anywhere near 20 in the league in one season. how much do you think Norwich will let him go for? of course , had we kept holt, we would have been complaining thast he didnt sign a contract and went on a free transfer somewhere. Constable i would have liked to see play in the league more for us, but we will see how they all do this season.

poor point, it just appeals to your negative view, barry and you are peas in a pod. one of the reasons we had a hole in midfield last season is that Disley was injured or recovering, leaving us with only defensive players. Ben vdb likes the centre of midfield too, an d we have defensive central midfielders too. try not to dismiss everybody who was here last season, they all have fresh starts with a better manager. Welcome to the negative brigade Barry. Monkee you and I have no idea what either Disley or BVDB are like in central midfield they might be great but Disley does not have a record as a creative midfielder. Interested who you consider to be the defensive midfielder? McIntyre ? How do you decide that Turner is a better manager than Simpson especially considering your posting on other threads? thats 4 out of the last 5 posts made by you made in response to me. i think you are obsessed with me. turners record is better and he is vastly more experienced. had it been a choice between Turner and simpson when Peters left, i would have gone for Turner. the point i was making was that we have players capable of playing it into feet , that was what i was initially referring to (do you actually read the posts i make properly? i think you get too excited when you see one and miss things). the defensive midfielders i was referring to were Dunfield and McIntyre, i suppose Murray was fitting into that role but he didnt play so much. we still have one of them, and i'm not sure if Dunfield has found a club yet. You are right though about knowing what BvdB is capable of, we dont know, but i wasnt the one who was saying we dont have a "playmaker", i was saying that for all we know, he may fit into that position.

Monkee maybe I wouldn't have to respond to your posts if the information you posted was not incorrect. Turner is vastly more experienced than Simpson but in terms of points per game and percentage wins Simpson's record is better than Turner's. I must say I doubt you have seen a Town team managed by Turner. Dunfield has had his contract cancelled on the condition that he can't play in England during the next 12 months. Who is the current Town player who has consistently demonstrated that he can pass the ball to feet over a distance of more than 10 yards. Must say I hope your program articles are more accurate than your postings.

I wouldnt be here if it wasnt for turner, missed the first season he had here and all of the second apart form the last game of the first season in the old division 2, from there i went to pretty much every home game after that, i was only 10 or 11. He has had far more success than Simpson, promotion with us once with wolves 3 times and with Hereford twice. A far more successful manager who has experience in running a club as well as managing. plenty of town players who can pass a ball, but then you are looking for them to fail so you must have missed it. must have missed shrewsweb saying that about dunfield, do you have a link? you make me laugh when it comes to accuracy, i dont think i have ever seen a poster try so hard to make the team he supposedly supports look bad. now simpson is a better manager than Turner according to you, i had no idea you liked him so much

If the Wayne Carlisle rumour is true from that thread a couple of days ago - Link------> Carlisle rumour then if he lives in/near Torquy/Devon then we could possibly see him popping down for talks with GT? As for Dunfield, it hasn't been confirmed that he has left/had his contract cancelled on shrewsweb so I guess its only a rumour thats been banging about since the announcement was made about him and Langers but I'm hoping if he doesn't find a club abroad then hopefully GT will give him chances here next season.

I think it is pretty clear from this article in the Chronicle that Dunfield is no longer at the Meadow. www.shrewsburychronicle.com/2010/06/24/turner-closing-in-on-more-recruits/Why would Turner change his mind Dunfield made his bed now let him lie in it.
