Patience is needed here. The ink is barely dry on Graham Turner's contract, what do people expect? Give him breathing space. He has to work at first with what he has inherited. You can't just put together a promotion winning squad overnight.

Some of these negative posts towards Turner does make you realise what a horrible occupation being a football manager is. If we win the first 5, these same critical posters will be calling him the messiah.

To be honest I can't see why people are worrying already.
Turner said he wanted to see the squad that he was left before going out and getting replacements and they've only just got back to training. How would you like it if your new boss, who had never seen your work, replaced you because some one else said you were not up to it.
Just give it time, as long as the team is sorted for the start of the season, that's the main thing.

IF we are in a similar situation in say mid to late July I might start to start to worry abit. The last thing I want is us to make some late panic buys just to fill the squad like last season
However players have only just returned to training, there will be very few clubs who Id imagine are happy with their squad now

So would people like GT to make panic signings then?
Look how that worked out last season!
A bit of patience please.

During the long delays before Turner was appointed the optimists on the board came on saying "worry not he'll have done all the negotiations and as soon as he arrives there be a string of new signings" well that didn't happen.
Then there was the view that come July 1st, when all non retained players are out of contract, many assumed that we would see a raft of new signings again nothing happened.
Now we have the optimists saying don't worry it will be all right on the night but to perform to your best you need rehersals and the longer it takes to add to the cast the less likely it will be alright on the night.
Many of those who now have faith in Turner are the ones who kept the Simpson flag flying longest.
I'm afraid my Faith in STFC managers disappeared long ago now my support for the club is based on Hope that it will be alright on the night and if not first night maybe 2nd or 3rd ........... 46th night.

Same old Priory, always moaning. You must have a strange view of moaning, if you want to hear real moaning start me going on Boy David and his faithful lapdog Nick and that could last for 5 more years. God Help Britain.

I'm afraid my Faith in STFC managers disappeared long ago . It cant have been that long ago Ed, Peters was only sacked a couple of years ago Ed, you got your wish that Simpson left so I would assume that you would have a inkling of happiness. Did you not want Turner? If not, who would you have liked? I agree with your tone that there are a small minority who think Turner is the messiah and can do no wrong which is daft. However there is also an element of us (hopefully the majority) who think that he's been in the job 5 minutes and hasnt even managed a game so its probably fair not to start moaning at him already. That isnt hero-worshipping, its common sense As Monkee has said the proof is in the pudding once his side has been assembled and start performing. I for one will give him full support, not because he's a legend in the past, but because I will give him the chance to prove himself. If things turn badly I will criticise him if necesary just like I did with Simpson, however at least I will give him a chance

I'm afraid my Faith in STFC managers disappeared long ago . It cant have been that long ago Ed, Peters was only sacked a couple of years ago Paul, just a couple of definitions: Faith: belief that is not based on proof: Hope: to look forward to with desire and reasonable confidence. Not sure I have even reasonable confidence, being realistic the Town have achieved 5 promotions in basically 60 years hardly an inspiring record. Faith disappeared once I realised that all pre-season manager's comments are bull, whether it be "WOW signings" or "Best Team Ever". I actually found I enjoyed matches much more when I lowered my expectations now I can watch the game rather than becoming emotionally involved. Some may say that means I'm not a true fan. As for Turner I'm ambivalent, I just hope its not Roland's equivalent of the child who has waited all year for his special Christmas present and when he opens it it's faulty. Personally bearing mind 4 of the 5 promotions were achieved under player managers, I would have gone for a Player Manager like Paul Dickov with an experienced coach along side. As Turner was the choice I would have gone for a player coach to lead on the field. As the season develops I will express my opinion good or bad unless of course I get shouted down by the "You are only a true fan if you think everything is perfect brigade."

Ed, of course your entitled to express your opinion, whether its good or bad about Turner
Alternatively I hope that people are able to defend and offer praise to Turner without claims of being blinkered or hero-worshipping
It works both ways

It would make for a much more interesting board if people explained the reasoning behind their views. But I guess the chances of that happening are far less than the Town being promoted next season. But one can always hope!!!!

Yeah Id agree with that, although I think that on the whole there arent too many posters like that (Im sure we could name them) Id also hope that if things go badly and people are critical of Turner that if things start going well and we win a few games, that those posters dont go missing and give credit where its due

Still, i'd rather have a poor season going to places like Elland Road rather than suffer the disappointment of another mid-table finish in L2, but that's just me.

I really do not see anything to worry about. There are bigger concerns in life I lie awake at night wondering why Goofy stands upright while Pluto remains on all fours

Also the 2 main classic questions about Rainbow. Why was Bungle naked all day but then put pyjamas on to go to bed? and what sort of a creature is a "Zippy"?
