With the feel good factor now back again with GT returning i'm going to get a season ticket today. I just believe this could be a fantastic season. At 12.50 per game this seems excellent value for money. With new signings imminent i just can't wait for the season to start. Come on you Mighty Shrews.

I renewed my season ticket as soon as GT's appointment was confirmed.
I don't expect immediate success, but I'm sure that we will see improvements and steady progress on the playing side.

Thought Roland was leaving all the media stuff to Keith these days? Either way sounds delighted to have got his man.
In RW/GT I trust.

Depends which one of Rogerson or Shrewed gets on first. ..and there was me thinking we were a broad church of opinion and we were all allowed our own viewpoint. You could easily counter your sarcastic comment with one that would question the mindset of those fans that appear to be wetting themselves with excitement at the release of a bland, anondine statement that anyone with any knowledge of the club could have constructed Rather than concentrate on the past recent history of no co operation, no communication, a total and utter lack of respect for fans groups and their opinions and a record of recruitment that makes General Pinochet look like a missionary.

Wonder who will be the first to post a negative post on this thread ............... Well I think I will take this offer, I will not be at the ground until at least the GM has been changed, and hopefully the chairman will not be far after him. I will not sponsor a single thing and it will be away games only for me!!

I am honestley not convinced with the return of Mr Turner.
Yes I will support him but I have to question whether he was the best candidate for the job or whether our Chairman has let his heart rule his head.

I've gotta agree with Reggie, it was great to see the chairman speaking up for once. Hopefully the strong friendship between manager and chairman will lead to success in all aspects of club.
I've renewed my season ticket and cannot wait for things to all kick off

reading between the lines there is an amount of negativity in the comments
'there has been significant investment in recent years ... this will underpin our future success' we've spent too much we need to be more prudent for long term success - no big signinings
'hope with entertaining football and a possible good cup run ...' - hardly a positive message regarding a big push for promotion

Yes I will support him but I have to question whether he was the best candidate for the job or whether our Chairman has let his heart rule his head. Turner got out of this division 3 seasons ago with a budget which could have been as low as half of what we have. Onto Jamo's point, the question for all of us is which part of the past matters and which parts have been learned from. For me the jury is out, but I am prepared to give it a go.

Some good points made by Jamo, Windy and TBH. RW has ruled with his heart, maybe he's too much of a fan?
The first objective has been met, a surge of season ticket sales, not in the thousands, but enough to make it all worth while and they wouldn't of renewed if PS was still here or we had a complete novice/journeyman at the helm.
The circumstances, expectations and football supporters in general are different now from when Gt was first here.
It will be interesting to see what happens if things go pear shaped early on. I've already mentioned on here that it will be a generation thing, with us older supporters maybe prepared to give him more time as opposed to the younger generation.
As always with me it's wait and see.

Great to hear from Roland, and he does seem very optimistic for the new season, and i have to say, i am myself. I renewed after the Morecambe game, but up until the last minute i really wasnt sure. If Simmo was still here i may have had second thoughts. Now that GT has been appointed i really cant wait for the season to start, and to see which players he is going to bring in. I honestly dont think if Simmo was still in charge i would have had anywhere near the anticipation i now have, and i certainly would have picked and choosed my games. I really hope that it doesnt go pear shaped, and GT will have my continued support whatever. From his comments he is going to try to get the team to play the right way and not the boring, negative way Simmo had us playing.

Listening to Graham Turner’s first interview - www.shrewsburytown.com/articles/20100618/graham-turner_2265578_2074057He has said that performances may start of a bit fragmented as the squad get used to his positive approach of playing from the back along the ground. Therefore results and performances may take time to get going – so we will all need to be patient. This could be a good thing where we improve as the season progresses and be in the mix when it counts at the end of the season.

Thats a very fair point ipswich. He did say that the side would need time to gel and get used to his style of play. I would much rather start steadily, and be there or there abouts throughout the season, than start like a house on fire, raise everyones expectations and fall away without a wimper. I think people will give GT time to build his own squad and get them playing the way he wants. It will be nice to see attractive attacking football for the first time in a few years all being well.

Don't all new managers say the same thing. I'm sure Mr Peters and Mr Simpson wouldn't have gotten the job had they stated we will end up playing mediocre football.
Without being pessimistic I don't recall Hereford being a team renowned for attacking flowing football.
I am sat here daily awaiting new arrivals that will take us forward. I suppose I am not as optimistic as some on here at present.

Well in fairness they were fantastic two seasons ago on a very limited budget last season they were poor but Trewick was managing the team then

Mr Negative Calling: As yet I have not renewed my season ticket still 8 days to go and as yet I have not made up my mind one way or the other. Obviously things are better now than they were at the end of April. I was pleased when Turner was appointed but not over the moon as I said at the time I would wait to see how things develop. I am pleased with the signing of Sharps and SCS and the departure of Dunfield but disappointed by the loss of Kelvin but we are still waiting for more players and a number 2. I am not happy that Turner seems prepared to go down the loan route, I have spent 50 odd years supporting STFC not a group of players who are only here because they can't get a game at their own club. There is nothing wrong in bringing in a player to cover an injury a la Button or bringing in players on loan as a trial period but I am totally against season long loans, just to bolster the team numbers, who have to play. Yes we have had good loan players over the years but lets not forget Cureton and Walker. The last three years have been seasons of hype caused by Directors, Managers and Fans I was hoping that this season after the disappointment of the last 3 seasons we would have a season of realism. Unfortunately too many on here are still in the WOW mood. I do wonder if Roland's heart has over ruled his head I'm not sure appointing a friend to a senior position is always the best thing. Football has change over the last 30 years. The team Turner inherited was a good team and over the years it became even better but that was by evolution not by starting with a team that needs, in my view, 6 or 7 new players to make it in to a team capable of pushing for promotion. In my mind the Jury is still out and I guess I have about 200 hours to make up my mind just have to hope the plane home isn't delayed or the decision will be made for me.

In my mind the Jury is still out and I guess I have about 200 hours to make up my mind just have to hope the plane home isn't delayed or the decision will be made for me. League rules have changed since he was with Hereford, you're only allowed 5 loan players in a match day squad nowadays. Simpson used the loan market rather a lot as well, I make it 7 last season. (Button, Phillips, Scarz, Labadie, Devitt, Fairhurst, Cureton, probably forgot others) Turner hasn't said the team will be built around loanees he was asked if he will use the loan market and he said he would be mad not to, which is totally agreeable. He has also said he is happy with the basis of the squad but it needs some finishin touchs, especially a bit of pace, so the spine of the team isn't going to be built around loan players
