...is that the new manager is actively pursuing Lionel Ainsworth and Theo Robinson.
No real surprise to be honest as he knows them both well. Would be very happy to see them both in our squad.
Word of warning.
It appears the Ainsworth deal will fall through due to huddersfields financial demands.

Now Robinson would be a hell of a signing.
This is just so good to be true. I think we'd have to smash our transfer record to get Theo in.
Ainsworth is old news but I'm more confident that we can get him in.

isnt robinson a bit out of our league? So was Grant Holt. Sometimes a player can be pursuaded to take a step backwards in order to move forward. Turner knows him well and will know what motivates and inspires him

Turner knows him well and will know what motivates and inspires him Robinson may well take that view too. One good season in League 2 and sky's the limit, maybe we'll be in League 1, we have the chance to make a profit when he's sold and he moves up the leagues - everyone wins.

To be honest I don't think it matters who we sign, far more important is the way the team gels. Holt was a WOW signing but looking back was he an effective signing 10 or 11 goals from open play hardly earth shattering. Hibbert had a better record last season than Holt the previous one.
Lets get the midfield right and start creating opportunities then start to think about the strikers.
As far as Skarz I would suggest we need a right back more than a left back.

The point I was making is that even good strikers fail to score if they don't get the right service or aren't in the right position. Lets wait and see what happens before we get carried away.

You'll find a good few of Theo's goals were penalties. When he was here, he was offside more often than enough.....also missed a hatfull of chances. You'll be tearing your hair out by October Ainsworth is quality at this level. We'd love to have him back but I doubt our budget would stretch to it.

Both would be up there with Sharps as WOW signings. Sharp is hardly a WOW signing. Forget WOW signings lets have 20 players who will go out and give their all will play for each other and will try and play attractive football with flair.

Ed any chance of just a little bit of positivity this season? To be fair, I think Ed is spot on here. Sharps isn't a WOW signing. He is a very competent lower league centre half, and is a good capture however. And, we don't want a team of individuals. A squad who will give their all and get the results is what we want!!

Ed any chance of just a little bit of positivity this season? Jonah what do you want 11 WOW signings that play like the French. Because regardless, if you decide this is negative, I don't. If you consider Sharp to be a WOW signing so be it feel free to say so but please get over the fact that Simpson has gone and you didn't agree with my views of his management skills.

Ed who mentioned Simmo? There has been some big name signings mentioned in this thread but you still can't get excited can you? Of course we don't want 11 that played like the French tonight I don't think you would find a positive in anything STFC do at the moment. But onwards and upwards Interesting developments next week

If we do sign Theo Robinson, season tickets would increase dramatically. The type of signing which will get extra bums on seats.
As for Ed posting something positive this season I think there'll be more chance that David Artell will be League 2 top scorer.

Surprisingly Jonah I don't get excited by names being bandied about if and when we make a new signing I might get excited or there again I might not. I dont tend to decide whether a player is good or bad until I've seen them play for the Town for a few games. As for finding positives with STFC I suggest you wind back a few threads and then retract your comments but there again I wont hold my breath.
