Only those in east london believe Green is England material.
Feel Capello has done himself few favours,
Firstly the most inform english goalkeeper hasn't been given enough minutes on the pitch in an England shirt to justify a start, secondly as the second half kicked off what to do, theres very little on the bench besides a 6ft 7" striker and Joe Cole.

One shocking mistake. He's made numerous excellent saves after that. You England fans are far too bitter to realise that your team as a unit is poor and full of pre-madonna's! Rooney is as good as dog-s**t for England. Lampard hasn't even been in the game and your player who's been best for play-making is definately Hesky. Hart is a better keeper, but Green has the experience of pressure in bigger games so he has to stay. I disagree, he made only one good save after that ....however he wasn't best positioned he should have been further forward not giving the player the option of sneaking it in at the near post.

bbc reckon it was a good save?! thought most keepers would get two hands to the near post shot not half a hand. Two hands and it goes around the post. Half a hand and it hits the post and goes anywhere.

The Green save towards the end was 'over hyped' by the normal ridiculous ITV commentators. Was near enough straight at him. If I was Capello I would've whipped him off at half time and put Hart on. Surely he has to play against Algeria?

Hart is a better keeper, but Green has the experience of pressure in bigger games so he has to stay. . Yeh, that experience really paid off tonight!? Opinions and all that, but that sort of attitude is to get England nowhere. A talented young keeper isn't to play.. cos Calamity James and Calamity Green have more experience. Doesn't make sense.

For the save on to the front post. Why is he diving to cover his front post like that? Don't you have to force the player to shoot across the goal from that position?

I know it was lucky I've been there and done it many times you don't get the hand on the ball that you wanted and it's that awful split second where you think it's heading for the net all of a sudden it's not in the net and panic over and you sheepishly take credit for a great save only you know it was fortunate to say the least
Bottom line is had that gone in it would have been talked about for decades just like the 1950 result always gets a mention

Thats what i was always taught, it's basic stuff if he does that and from that angle he can't really get a shot on goal. Can't see him starting against Algeria but unfortunately think it will be James who starts as long he's fit.

Yes, I know we are an average side, but that was the most basic error ever, and the same sort of thing Green has done this season many times for West Ham. He is s**t, and should never have been number one in the first place.

Apart from that Green was perfectly solid. Static, glued to his line, uncommanding. Yeah, quality game.

Each time I have seen him play, via the tele, I have never had any faith in his keeper ability and have wondered how he could ever be picked for international duties when his club performances have only been mediocre, topped by his farcical performances as shown in the above YouTube comments. Paul Robinson has had a blinder of a season but I suppose blip in a previous England game put him out of the running for this World Cup! What will be the thoughts for future internationals? ?? In the mean time lets see Joe in between the sticks!

Green has made it difficult to drop him from the team. If he does get dropped then his already shakey confidence will go through the floor and should suspensions or injuries mean that we need him again later in the tournament he could be a real liability.
Also, the pressure that it would put on whoever came in to replace him would be huge knowing that one mistake could mean the end of their England career.
Capello has a very difficult job to do now.

England **** up and Town get closer to 500k? Job done. No, Green **** up and Salop are no nearer to 500k than they were before kick off. The job is only done if England fail to make it out of the group and Joe gets picked for the Euro qualifiers. Get a grip man, you must to better on the wind up front.

Agree about the second-half save. The striker did not hit the ball cleanly and Green should have pushed it around the post or just caught it. Instead, he almost palmed it into his own net.

He looked like a zombie in the tunnel before the game, completely unaware of anyone around him, totally rigid and in a world of his own, some may say he was 'in the zone' but I thought he looked a nervous wreck that resembled a 6' something plank of wood - a sign of things to come at that moment and seemingly proven correct.

How can a so-called England International make a mistake like that is beyond comprehension.
The manager must drop him because if Green repeats that error in the next game, and he is likely to, the manager will be dammed.
As for the near post save--hardly great, just a stock save, after all anything that gets past the keeper at the nearpost is deemed an error.
My belief is that under Capello Green will not apear again.

You'd have backed Stevie Wonder to make the 'save' that led to the goal, it just gets worse evry time you see it.
