Steve Cotterill? (Unsure about Notts future) Peter Taylor? (Out of contract at Bradford at the end of the season) Jim Gannon? Paul Sturrock? Paul Ince? Graham Turner? Mike Jackson? Dave Hughes? Gary Peters? Mark Cooper?
Out of this list it's got to be Cotterill 100% but if not then it's Jim Gannon for me.
Any other realistic targets out there?

I've heard the manager Pilch has an impressive CV

In that order.

Sturrock, would be my first choice but would not be adverse to giving someone like Nicky Butt a crack.

Assuming he is going, I havent got a clue
For every manager someone will say what a impressive record they have but others will point out where they have failed, just like with Simpson
Roland will have an interesting choice though, does he try and go for another high profile manager like Ince, Cotterill to attract the fans, or does he go low profile manager such as Dave Hughes who might have the best credentials but isnt a big name

Does it need to be explained ....?
A play on words Shakespeare might have been pleased to make.

Sturrock would be my first choice if he's allowed to bring in his own backroom staff that have been with him throughout though I feel there are 1 or 2 coincidences too many that point the finger towards Graham Turner, I'd imagine a substantial increase in season ticket sales with Turners return and the comparison of funds made available for the chairmans favourite to that of Simpson this season would be interesting should Turner be the chosen one - please no Ince, Allen or Newell
Cotterill would be number 1 choice but I just wonder if it's a realistic target or just a pipedream.

Budgets and contracts have defined Paul Simpson's tenure and the new manager will be working within exactly the same constraints.
I would like a manager who has achieved a lot with a little.

Well PS hasn't officially gone yet
But if he has, I still don't understand what so many people have against Ince
I expect Cotterill will stay at County and Taylor at Bradford, so maybe there is something in the Sturrock rumour
I don't want to see Graham Turner back, as the thought of minfless fans booing him after a few weeks when we are not top is not some thing I want to contemplate

Cotterill is a long shot surely.
Heard bad stories about Gannons ability to get on with his players during his time at Motherwell particular the ones there prior to his arrival. He will have plenty of Simpson players left over so I'd rather not risk that.
Sturrock has a great track record over the years so could be a success. Good point from Scooter on Turner, it could be a real shame if it didn't work out.
I would be interested to see a thread from when GP left and how many of us were happy with the simpson appointment. I thought it was a decent appointment and have been left very disappointed. Its a tough job picking a new boss.

I know what you mean - I've certainly got my opinions on this subject, but I don't want to jinx anything!
Me too, to be fair. I've been very, very critical recently, as I'm sure you've all noticed, but I can't deny it sounded like a good appointment to me at the time.
