I have to say I didn't hear radio shropshire after the game, but everyone is entitled to an opinion on the game and radio shropshire is dull enough without a few calls and comments to stir up debate.
For me I think a lot of progress in team moral and togetherness has been made since november, and the work rate has been increased.
However I'm yet to be convinced that since wembley in 2007 that we have developed the passing and movement of the side, which is needed to make a sustained push for promotion and to then stay in league one. By passing and movement I'm not talking about free flowing football, but a style of play that allows us to keep the ball and work it back and forward on the pitch without resorting to a big thump out of defence.
I think 8-9 sides we have played this year have held onto the ball better than us this season. the 3 wins in a row are great and there's no reason why this side now can't press on and improve the passing ability of the side with a few loan signings, but we're not the complete package yet and need to develop quite a bit in the last quarter of the season to secure promotion.

Carol: no offence my dear but I'm sure there could have been some pots to wash, or some ironing or washing to do at home yesterday. Best stick to what you're good at love. Happy Valentine's by the way. She's entitled to an opinion as you are, but that post does you no favours. Unless you're joking of course, which I hope you are. Anyway, you'd be surprised by how many of our supporters still aren't convinced by PS and how many are failing to warm to him.

Radio Shropshire do allow any old nutter on there.
You have to either be pretty darn excited or pretty darn angry to ring in, so you only ever get extreme opinions.
What we need is some sane voices regularly ringing in. But they tend to have other things to do.

Callers/texters to the show (like all radio phone-in's) tend to have no middle ground, its either we win and we're the greatest side in the world and Simmo is the greatest manager ever, or we lose and its the worst side we have ever seen with the worst manager in our history. If your fairly neutral/level-headed about something then you dont feel the need to ring in and tell the world your opinions Its not just us though, I know some Telford fans who claim we're fickle because of the calls/texts but they are no better, a few weeks ago their manager had to go but now everything is wonderful again Football fans are fickle, unfortunately its the most fickle who tend to get heard the most as they shout loudest Personally though, I wouldnt be surprised if Carol was Simmo putting on a fake voice, I mean its got everyone defending and praising him to levels not seen since Wembley

The callers are going to be hyped up either way and are probably normally perfectly rational, intelligent and articulate people, that what football does to us. Still, it's just an opinion and it annoys me when people resort to lazy generalisations and being dismissive without either hearing it, or putting it into a proper context.

There are still many longstanding fans who want to see a team playing well for 90 minutes consistently over a number of games against teams closer to the top of the league.

I never said that 3 wins in a week should automatically change peoples opinions about Simpson. My point is a general one about the majority of callers
Yes the league positions of the respective teams arent great but 3 wins is 3 wins, it doesnt matter who they are against. If we had lost/drawn them you can guarantee that the fans would be saying its a disgrace that we had lost to them, but because we beat them then you seem reluctant to give praise as all the clubs are struggling. You are seeing plenty of surprise results in league 2 so its good that we are grinding out results and starting to see a better style of football, albeit not for the full 90 minutes presently
I can definitly understand people being undecided about Simpson, and I can understand to a point being anti-Simpson. What I cant understand is when we have won 3 games in a week, people ringing in to criticise Simpson. But as we know there are people who support the club who dont support Paul Simpson, sadly I think they would prefer it if we lost so they can be proven right and Simpson goes

Paul, there are a few on here who were calling for Simpson's head after the the Macclesfield game who are now abusing or making fun of Carol. It is time that some fans learnt to accept that other fans have opinions which are equally as valid as those they themselves hold.
Kneeling down at tha altar of Simpson does not make you a better supporter of the club.

If you read my post you would have seen that I can understand people being unsure or anti him, not sure how you have read it as a attack on anti Simpson fans My point is how/why can someone criticise Paul Simpson on the day we have just won 3-1 which was the third win in a week? Surely even the person with the biggest hatred of Paul Simpson would admit that the past week has been a good week and it would be a strange time to sack him?

Paul I was definitely not having a go at you. You are one of the most fair and reasonable posters on the board always prepared to justify your position. Unfortunately many other posters do not have your ability to see both sides of th discussion.

It 14/15 matches for people to really get onto Mr. Simpsons back , which equates to 3 months football .
Whilst we have been doing well recently 7/8 matches , it will take longer for fans to get 100 % on Mr. Simpsons side .
If he fails to get automatic promotion or even at the very least into the play offs , i would percieve that The Guillotine will be back out .
5 weeks of good football will reassure fans and promotion or the play offs will .
but
anything less and the ' swish ' of the blade could be heard !

Along with many others I'd pretty much written the season off after the turgid Boxing Day display and the disappointing results against Rochdale and Grimsby.
I certainly didn't envisage the turnaround we've enjoyed since, with great wins at Bradford and Chesterfield and enjoyable home victories against Dagenham and Hereford which have really lifted the crowd.
Perhaps come May we'll be left reflecting that we were once again not good enough to be promoted. But for now we should credit Simpson for recent results and a renewed sense of optimism among the fan base.
It's been really good to see the fans responding positively to these improved performances too - proof that most fans are fair minded and will support the team if given something to get behind. We don't expect stellar, Premier League style performances. I think most fans accepted the Accrington result as a disappointment, but one bad result in a generally encouraging run, there was no big over-reaction from the fanbase as a whole.

As Neil Sedaka says:
Oh Carol , I Am But a Fool Darling I Love Though You Treat Me Cruel You Hurt Me And You Make Me Cry But If You Leave Me I Will Surely Die
Darling There Will Never Be Another 'Cause I Love You So Don't Ever Leave Me Say You'll Never Go I Will Always Want You For My Sweet Heart No Matter What You Do Oh Carol I'm Still In Love With You

Just frustrated that's all folks. Yes I know we are winning games Yes I know where we are in league but there is something thats not quite and in my opinion (MY) its simpsons management style. For those of you who think Im a moran for saying what I said - Im anything but!! However, like me your entitled to your opinion (YOUR) so lets leave it at that. As for supporting town - have done for over 40 years good and bad and therefore think I am entitled this once to have a say. Sorry if anyone was/is offended but hey lifes to short - its like a coin you can spend it anyway you like but you can only spend it once. I thought guests could now only post on a Friday?

Don’t worry Carol, one poor performance and result and there will be loads from B&A right behind you saying the very same thing. Indeed, it was only a short time ago that plenty were. At least you’re not fickle like a great many who post on here are…
