admittedly tim does look fun from the back of the stand or another stand
the majority of comments from around me on Saturday sat near the front I can't even repeat on here had the stewards not be more interested in bottle tops and cameras they might have noticed he was getting on a few peoples nerves
I will predict he doesn't get away it again on the scale he did on Saturday

If you want a real ultras type atmosphere, the section will be dominated by it and following the game in a studious way won't be possible. Sadly this means people have to move to 'more suitable areas' if they don't like it. This might take time. It strikes me that Mallett is the "Ultras" one or two of you are craving for. Everyone supports the team in their own way. At Ajax, I have seen the ultras in action and they are great, but there's no way I would want to sit there under a flag for part of the game and with a risk of a flare in the eye. Having a pop at people for not joining in is slightly crazy. You want people on your side not against you. Also always interesting to see a B&A meltdown in progress - there's one every few weeks. It always surprised me that people can't control themselves on here - after all it takes time to type something (first chance to think), then you have to click on a button to send (second chance to think), then you see the post on the thread which can still be deleted (third chance to think).

Oh yar, I went to university and my daddy was a doctor. Spiffing game chaps.
Shame about those irksome delinquents are trying to have a jolly little sing song. They should have joined a rugger team if they wanted a bit more more bash bosh.
Anyway, I have a trip to Ascot to plan. Tally ho!

too much singing at a rugby game ;-) Exactly. Rugby Union is a very middle class game. Dan really does have a chip on his shoulder about something. Him shooting his mouth off on here did nothing to help the old ultras (who in reality, were a great bunch) and won't help Ed either. The idea it has anything to do with social class really makes me laugh actually. Maybe it has something to do with "new" fans who have not been to many away games, and don't know the songs etc. The best way to get an atmosphere going is to lead by example, not slag other people off.

As I've pointed out on another thread
accy seem to make more atmosphere with 6 fans than block 9
if the scores of them actually concentrated on making more noise themselves instead of having a pop at those who are not, there would be no need for anyone to make a fool of themself, and no need for threads and radio interviews and meetings with the club
do it, don't talk about it

My brother is currently in the Cardiff Blues Academy and doing rather well. Its just my alter ego, ever since the Macc incident the way i was blamed and made out to be so bad of course i will have a chip on my shoulder on this board. I've been made out to be a villian so thats what you all wanted and thats what you have got, somebody to point at finger at when things go wrong.

I think we’ve already heard the death knell of Ultras Mk II. Can’t believe how you go about things ‘The Original’, you really do have a way with folk on here… Just can’t understand these discussions and why they keep appearing here on B&A… Why don't the Ultras just keep their heads down and concentrate on what they are trying to achieve? Why do folk who don’t want have owt to do with an organised group of fans and don’t need to be told how to support the Town see a need to keep saying they don’t want to have anything to do with any organised group of fans and don’t need to be told how to support the Town? If folk are happy with their match day experience then that’s great, enjoy…then there is surely no need to pooh-pooh something others might be looking to put together? I thought there were some blocks designated as singing blocks? If folk sit in these blocks then I don’t think you can moan at anyone not singing, just as those folk in that block who don’t want to sing can’t moan that folk might be singing, standing, waving flags about etc.

Nick you had a pop in general you accused some of cheap shot and snide remarks it's their honest opinions, for all to see your response was that you will be informing tim of what has been said I said it's a bit like stfc printing off a thread and showing it to whom in concerns it's a running joke on here and I stand by what I said it's my opinion

As Welshshrew said before this is the last thing we need at the moment.
Let Tim go nuts at the front if he wants, but do we really need this whole 'Ultras' vs the rest debate again?
Godsake we have such a decent chance of going up this season, we need that stick together and support the club however each person feels the need.
For the record I don't sing, unless the match is lively and I feel the need to.
If someone wants to bang a drum and wave a flag in front of the stand then fine, also if someone simply pays there £19 to watch thats fine.
All together lets move on? Such a chance here to get out of this ****ing s**te league at last! Stick together.

Mallet is only doing what Timber Jim does for Portland Timbers, its all about having fun, making noise and being a proper football fan of which we don't have that many of. We have way too many middle class toffs/prawn sandwich brigade at out club that really need to get a life rather than moaning becuase somebody is making a atmosphere in the ground. Well, this one takes the biscuit IMO.... I sit in block 10, have done since the move. I am 48 years old, supported STFC since I was about 12. For many years I went home and away, even scived school to make sure I got the coach for night games away. Used to sing my taters off. Used to stand in the Station End and sing my taters off, moved to the Riverside and for many years did likewise. Eventually I moved to the Tech End, met some fantastic STFC supporters there and sit by many of them now. If I want to have a sing and shout I will, I did on Saturday when the atmosphere picked up, and on that I have to say it wasnt Mr Mallet who inspired it, it was the team and all around the ground. Nowadays I want to sit and watch the game, I can oftent be seen standing up and shouting and supporting the team, but I do it when I want to. I wasnt going to comment on this but on Saturday the singing in block 8 etc, was cr@p to start with..and you were definitely not louder than the west. I have always stated I support whet the Ultras are trying to do and good luck with it. But if anyone else says go and sit in the family stand I'll f'in scream...

I admit defeat its never gonna work, how can it in a town like Shrewsbury, it will work in lesser places like Accrington, York, Newcastle and Aldershot, but Shrewsbury's too good a place to have any sort of Ultras group. Raspberry cordial anyone? I can assure you that no Raspberry cordial was served in Box number 2 on Saturday, plenty of beer but certainly no raspberry cordial or for that matter any bloody prawn sandwiches. How dare you low lives from blocks 11/12 make such an accusation.

Timmy Mallet is a legend and I found what he did a great way to get the whole of the stand going.
I heard one individual 'moaning' because of this and my advice to him would be to join in and get a life!.
The Mallet is the way forward for better atmosphere in blocks 11/12..

It seems clear to me that the solution to this controversy is to have a Toffs block.
They could watch the games through their monocles while their valets fetch the Pimms from Jennifers.
The number 1 rule would be that top hats are to be removed while play is in progress so as not to obstruct the view of the chap behind one.

That is a fine idea - and have a working class block, obviously as far away as possible from the Toffs (and preferably near the closest factory for convenience), where The Original and his friends can read The Sun and leer at passing girls, whilst chanting lewd ditties.

Without Mallet, there is absolutely no South Stand noise. The first 15mins v Bournemouth could've sent me to sleep in block 9. He needs to cut the language out but otherwise i'm behind him getting noise from South Stand. The last 10-15mins were as good as I can remember with even old folk standing.
Let Mallet do his thing without the aggression and force and lets get behind the lads in our best chance of automatic promotion for years.
