Lowe Darby Tinno Ridler O'Connor Sedge all played on Saturday No wonder we got thrashed does the club have a physio these days? why were they allowed to play if they aren't fit? why did Cramb say after the game he shouldn't have played? surely as a pro he knows? surely the management team should know?

Before fagin starts this isn't a post slagging off Lord Colin Cramb of Paisley, but he said in the star that he had flu, and shouldn't have played.
Well in the name of god why did he then?

I wonder if he felt some pressure as there would have soooo many conspiracy theories flying round this board if he hadn't! Can you imagine if Quinn had had to start - some on here would have been apoplectic before they knew a reason (and then may not have believed it! Seriously - we had a good exchange about this Saturday and I was surprised more didn't pick up on it then. Cramb "injured" - wouldn't be the first time.
;D
If they aren't fit they shouldn't play. If they are playing with injuries or illness then its a lack of someone saying "You're not fit, so you are not playing." or its a question of someone's advice about whether a player is fit enough to play being over-ruled by whoever picks the team.
To play with the flu is impossible.

After today's news S&R people should be well and truely questioning it. Personally, a slight hamstring pull requiring a player to be subbed and then passing " a test" less than 48 hours later and then expecting him to play a game or at least start seems a bit of a joke. I know there are different degrees of muscle injury but surely it hasn't healed even a minor pull that close folling the initial injury. So who makes the decisions i think your asking S&R? the player the physio or the management? And who should make the decisions? Well i would think it's a joint decision between the player and the physio after all the facts, risks etc have been explained to the player, with the managers imput then and only then. Managers get impatient with players injuries, especially whom he would consider key players, but we have all heard stories of physio's losing their jobs for standing up for the player. Liverpool's ? Leather with Houllier over Owen, that bloke at Wolves with Taylor over Tony Daily and even the physio at Stoke over a few players with Macari when Bates was there.

A new policy introduced at our workplace is that you have to declare yourself unfit for work to be sent home .I am wondering about the training style with the amount of hamstring injures that occur in football, lets not forget however there are a number of terrible flu viruses around at the momment

Oi Guest type chap, you leave the luverly Rachel alone You have been warned I am almost certain Rachel would know the players are injured, she is, after all the physio What i don't understand is why they are still playing, and that surely, is up to Jimmy?

If Cramb thought he couldn't play, the manager says he said the opposite - if you look at the post match interview with the Quinn Reaper. You pays your money and makes your choice.

where's cramb say he thought he couldn't play?
all i can find is 'Climbed out of his sickbed to play and by his own admission wishes he hadn't have bothered.'

if we have 11 players injured and getting treatment according to the shropshire star ( quite objective of late may i add ) . Then could someone confirm ( Ian? ) how many players actually trained on Sunday after the Dag match?

Probably Howey stood in goal looking around while Greg took a few shots I can't believe that a player can declare himself fit when supposedly that ill. I hate to be harsh here, given he was obviously trying to do what he though best, but it was totally irresponsible of Cramb to do so, AND for the physios/management not to over rule him. (should he have been as ill as seems suggested). Collectively ALL need to look closely at what ever system for vetting fitness is being used as it seems to be causing more problems than it's worth at present. I accept that this is only my perception as I don't know the facts as to how it works. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but if all this about who was carrying injuries/ill was made clearer, and an obviously weakened team was played, there may have been a hell of a lot more understanding and less grief over a drubbing then.

This has disturbed another of the many bees in my bonnet, namely that todays players are much softer (sorry, I mean susceptible to injury) than the old timers. To illustrate my point I looked at the records for my first full season as a Town supporter - 1958/59. Breathe On 'Em shows that in a 46 game season Hobson, Moloney, Wallace and Whittaker were ever present. Crossley and Walers missed 2 games, Rowley 3, Skeetch 4 and Russell 6. So, 9 players missed 17 games between them. Of the remaining 2 places Edgely got into the team in game 13 and only missed 2 of the remaining 33 games and Tucker played 31 times. Not only were the players durable, but the Manager knew what his best team was and stuck to it. This was an era when there were no substitutes, much more physical contact was permitted, pitches were mud heaps for half the season, footballs weighed a ton when it was wet, there were no dieticians or qualified physios. Draw your own conclusions

beat me to it Ian He says he wishes he hadnt bothered declaring himself fit as in hindsight it probably wasnt the wisest thing to do. cramby's declared himself fit so he obviously wanted to play and if he says he's fit whos jimmy quinn 2 tell him he aint.that would be why quinny has played him that day.cramby will wish he hadnt of bothered because he didnt play well-neither did the others- but we cant blame crambys place in the team on saturday on quinny as cramby said himself he was fit to play!!
