As always a difficult balance to be had.
Initially a moderator should be expected to, where possible, ensure the rules of the board are not broken and, if they are, to take the appropriate action.
However I'd also like to think that the mods have a degree of responsibility in keeping B&A to a high standard too. This could be achieved in a number of ways such as
- The mod themselves not breaking any rules - The mod themselves not getting in any silly arguments and resulting to cheap insults/ long running battles with other members - The mod themselves instigating good quality debate
Of course if we start removing all threads that are just created to antagonise, or to 'dumb down' B&A there would be removals going on all over the place.
That said, there's also a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' argument - if the original thread hadn't been removed you can guarantee there'd have been complaints still.
I think the most annoying part in all of this is that users of B&A, guests or registered members, should be proud of this place and try and do their upmost to keep it a place of quality debate, STFC or otherwise.
Sadly though there are far too many who are quite happy to turn it into the tabloid of messageboards, making it harder and harder to find the quality stuff remaining.
We seem to go through this debate, about the quality of this board, every few months and usually a return to quality posting occurs - let's hope we're going to get that soon.

If you read the board regularly you identify those posters who are worth reading and those who are not.
Unfortunately there are times when the uninteresting, stupid and irrelevant are in the ascendancy.
There are still plenty of nuggets if you are prepared to ignore the dross.

I hope no one's blaming me for all this!
Just to clarify, the point of starting this poll was to highlight a totally pointless and wholely subjective poll from Salop 2009 asking everyone who the worst player at STFC was (out of only approx 8 he thought were the worst). That poll was subsequently deleted (after about an hour) and this one remains. So anyone who is wondering why it was created, you now know, and I suggest you read through the first dozen or so posts on the thread to get a feel for what was going on at the time.
Cheers.

The problem lies with Mods. who act like they are God !!!!!!!!!!!!!! They , Some , or All delete threads because of their personal opinion and not what the rules interpret . They delete them because it either , truthfully is a fact that shows up a Mod. or they have a personal vendetta against a member . I wonder how many Mod. threads and comments would have been deleted by us mere humble members because we objected due to ONLY opinion ! Just take a look at my history for those facts to be proved true . I'm not having a go at you Ant but just the attitude of some of the Mods. . It NEEDS to be sorted out .

Well there not in the dodgy posts room, where all deleted threads should go too... and im not aware on anything or anyone whos moved them... so it seems a strange one right now.... Pilch can check things and we can get to the bottom of it... had you reported any problems to a Mod about this before this thread?

Callum, the security log can only be seen through Pilch's login, I am sure he will review it when he's next online and post the results.

I have no idea what this is about.
My experience is that mods hardly touch anything, ever, unless it breaks board rules. That is what I stick to.
I often would like to delete some of the rubbish spouted on here. But as I contribute to the rubbish I can hardly claim editorial rights over other people.
