Ian, you can't criticise representative sampling - it's how we vote, how tv figures are decided, how marketing campaigns are run, it's the recognised standard methodology for consumer opinion - if you've got a problem with that ask your new guy for a better way, be surprised if he gives one. Voting is not done by representative sampling - voting is done by those who are committed to a particular party. I see no detailed explanation of the sampling methodology used to determine the figures quoted by TBH. Could it be that the 500+ respondents are the hard-core Salop fans, season ticket holders, B&A fanzine buyers, message board posters between the ages of 15 and 35? And , this would beg the question of which group is being sampled? Shrewsbury residents? Shrewsbury fans who go to a couple of games? Committed fans who will answer a few questions? While the overwhelming majority of opinion on this board is that Blue and Amber needs to be incorporated into the new stadium, it would be dangerous to generalize our views to a larger population. Don't you just love statistics ;D 1500 questionnaires given out on a match day, and available via the club website - 576 returned 211 had season tickets 144 membership cards 92 Super Blues The average attendance was 21 home games a season There were 15 people who believe the club colours are blue and amber for every person who believed they were blue and white. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the sample that is a hard statistic to disprove on account of statistical error.

Having large blocks of white seats, isn't practical either,in a 10,000 seater stadium if part stands are empty, or while the team trains in midweek the players on the field at eye level lose the ball and find it hard to /see/judge and negotiate in speed because of the background disillusions it.

This morning I worked out that 'BREATHE ON 'EM SALOP' could be put in the seats in the West Stand, thats the one opposite the main stand next to the railway.
Loggerheads badge could be put in the seats in the North Stand, away end nearest Oteley Road.
Salop could be put in the seats in the South stand and STFC in the East Stand, main stand, twice.

If white seats are so much cheaper why can't all the seats be white. To be fair I couldn't give a monkeys what colour the seats are as long as they are fully upholstered with a thing on the arm for holding your drink and a headphone socket so you can listen to the Shrewsworld commentary and a gameboy in the other fully upholseterd arm so that there's something to do at half time why be fussy. I don't even want to sit down anyway.

And maybe a little screen built into the back of the seat so you can watch action replays. And I hope we are going to get served food at our seats like they do at American baseball games. Anything less would be a shambles.

Oh that is superb - notebooks hooked up to one of the USB ports in every upholstered seat in the ground with an internet chatroom and a live Ask Gary feature at half time.

I noticed your corner flags were looking rather "Reading like" at the moment. Blue and white stripes............Obviously I like them, for Reading, but why aren't they Blue and Amber?

How about a response from the club... I'd be interested to hear why they have decided to do this... and if they say cost, that's bull s**t - it's Wycherley's ego....

Bleeding heck.
What on earth is wrong with our club? As Carter says, interesting to see what they say, but I doubt they'll be able to talk their way out of it. Really really unimpressed.
How many other clubs have seat colours different to their home kit, and to the colours 90% of fans associate with the club?

So you are unaware that next seasons commemorative home kit will be Blue & White . Is this all part of Ben Davies' new contract? So the ex-chester players feel at home?

I'm led to believe it was part of a 'collective bargaining agreement' formed during negotiations with Hopey, Davies, Drumms, McKenzie & the new physio. A genuis piece of business by the Chester massive.

If they do come up with a blue and white kit next season, then I think we should vote with our wallets and not buy the replicas.

Now you see the nostalgic amongst us would not be upset by blue and white as that is what we grew up with and indeed were disappointed at the time to see our kit change to blue and amber. Now I have finally accepted the change, and given the whole marketing viewpoint it makes no sense to change back to blue and white as it is commercial suicide.
I like the idea of blue seats and amber steps great theme!! Well we will wait for the verdict and explanations!!

I don't suppose many Arsenal supporters see them as that dark red/ plummy colour that they now sport. It was to commemorate the original Highbury kit and it could be argued that the equivalent for Town would be Blue and White.
As for the change of the corporate colours- potentially very dangerous. Large plc's would pay millions of pounds to actually research what potential customers think via focus groups etc. To get it wrong at STFC could cause 'significant discomfort' to all concerned.
A new generation of Town fans would see us as Blue and White- especially if the ground carried this colourscheme.

Well the subject has got front page billing in today's Chronicle - no link available as today's edition is not up on the web yet. Surprise surprise - it has been confirmed that the seats WILL be blue and white - the reason given by John Howarth is that it is for " design reasons", although sources in the manufacturing industry say it could be because of cost! Ade Plimmer, on behalf of shrewsTRUST and Gareth Hopkins (welshshrew) on behalf of the B & A Fanzine are quoted expressing concern. Noone from the Club was available for comment!
