You can`t blame people in the inner cities for voting BNP. If the main parties addressed peoples concerns about immigration, rather than trying to be politically correct, there would be no need for the BNP. As it is they stand to do very well in the local elections and I say good luck to them

Hardly a surprise that the BNP are gaining so much support. The Con/Lab/Lib-Dems are too busy fighting to occupy this mythical 'centre -ground' to be bothered about certain issues that concern many of the British public .
The main three are all too terrified of tackling issues such as immigration, ethnic conflict, crime, and the EU - and instead continue to preach about the 'joys of diversity' and how Britain still needs mass immigration. I'm a former Tory supporter and my parents are 'old' Labour -but we have all found that the BNP is the only political party that comes close to representing our views.

I wouldn't vote BNP if they were the only party on the ballot paper and voting was compulsory (which if they had their way would probably be the case).
We have a Kick racism out of football campaign, can we have one to kick it out of blue and amber please?
There are so few immigrants in Shrops that you're comments are based on mis-placed fear & ignorance. In my experience, most are better educated and more motivated to work hard than the average Englishman or woman, contribute more in taxes than they receive, and make a very positive contribution to this country.

Threads like these, or rather threads like this one will turn out to be like, are excellent at educating people about the policies of the BNP and what they really stand for.
While I fully appreciate the need to keep the messageboard free from racism to a) keep members happy b) not to break proboards rules, I think threads like these are beneficial - there are lots of people out there who are not aware at all of what exactly the BNP stand for :-)

Sommats not right and if folk believe that a vote for the BNP is the only way they can get the issues that they are concerned about onto the political agenda then so be it and good luck to them. So for me, this is not a wasted vote for those who vote for the BNP if they get the result they seek...which is to get their concerns discussed and addressed...
I do not see the point of slagging off the BNP, that’s easy. The real issue that needs to be discussed is why so many people may now be looking to vote for them. I do wish folk would stop going off about those who are looking to vote for the BNP, you may not experience the problems or share the concerns that some in this country do...
Sounds as if many people on here think it’s an instant requirement to have a pop at anyone who suggests they are voting BNP. It doesn’t make people who vote for the BNP racist, it means they have concerns that only one political party seems to be willing to discuss with them...

A few weeks ago I heard Billy Bragg being interviewed, and he was basically making the same points. The Labour Party in the last generation has left a large chunk of the electorate without a voice. The BNP is/has stepped into the vacuum and will exploit it for all its worth.
An article in The Nation (a left leaning US magazine) basically argued the same point. The Labour Party's move to the centre has left an open door - and the BNP are walking in.

The BNP love situations like this. They actively feed off peoples fears. They are like leeches.I do agree though that the question has to be asked why folk are turning to them.To ignore peoples concerns can only alienate them further and drive them into the arms of extreme groups. IMO, the reason why more people are turning to the BNP is because the three main political parties appear to ignore certain matters that concern many of us. Every poll shows that the majority of British people are concerned about immigration, the EU, rise in serious crime and the growth of Islamic extremism in this country. The no-nonsense approach of the BNP is appealing.Contrast the party's commonsense policies on everything from education to the enviroment- with the wishy-washy, 'P.C' driven nonsense of the Con/Lab/Lib-Dems. It's no use Cameron, Blair and Co using insulting terms such as 'racist', 'extremist' etc - These daft buzzwords have been over-used for far too long now and have all but lost their real meaning. What's more - if a large number of the electorate are planning to use the BNP as a stick to beat the main three parties with on 4th May - then all the hatred shown towards the BNP by the Cameron/Blair twins, might actually end up having the undesired effect of making the BNP the mother of all 'protest-vote' parties.

Agreed- judgemental was the wrong word. Where he goes wrong in my opinion is that he is quick to make sweeping remarks that have no substance to them, but make good headlines. You can`t go around calling people racist just because they may vote for the BNP, or they may agree with SOME of what Enoch Powell says.

Excellent reply Stutty I have to agree with every word. BNP voters=Racists? Why? The majority of those who vote for them are genuinley concerned for there town, city and country.
When an estimated 8 out of 10 labour voters (according to the polls) in Hackney have said this time they will vote BNP then there is something fundementally wrong.
If the BNP are willing to tackle their greivance then so be it.
Me I am not one for the'joys of diversity'Call me old fashioned but in my view immigration and the problems it brings is a major issue that needs addressing immediately before it is to late.
Labour are using Immigration as a tool to keep inflation low by using the influx of cheap labour thus growing the ecomomy. Is this fair?

I'm interested in your view point on this Jonah given that you are an employer yourself. How cheap is cheap - are you suggesting a lot of immigrants are working for cash in hand thus leading to less jobs for non-immigrant workers?

Overblown hype. Despite the BNP's best efforts they are still viewed with contempt and suspician, they have failed despite press bluster and the odd outburst from mps to make any headway into the mainstream arena. It seems that everytime we have council elections the country goes in spasms for fear of a steadily upward creeping far right vote. In many cases the council seats they have won, have quickly been surrended a year or so later, that in all cases prejected fears of large turnout for BNP candidates has no happened and its just free press and publicity. Unfortunatly it also allows the BNP to come across as sanctimonious, forthright and respectable. Council elections are not seriously regarded by anyone, 10-15 years ago people were fearing for the Green Party break through to occur? Has it? No. The BNP has been working hard to rebrand itself, unfortunatly for the party it still attracts, in many cases the wrong sort of members, who either lack intelligence, or are just plain racists. The Observer has the party pinned as "skinheads in suits", as a generalisation it is wrong, because the party has evolved in attempt to incorporate a few british asians and try and engender a greater amount of trust amongst the electorate. However cock-ups such as hiring a black dj, the undercover expose with the bbc, newspapers and channel 4, Griffins previous baggage as well as the fact he could get sent down for insighting racial hatred (or something) all undermine the vain efforts of those within the BNP trying to transform the party. Ultimatly the BNP will attract members of the elctorate. Unfortunatly even if the economy was boomingm, everyone had a job, the BNP would still focuss on many peoples deep seated insecurities that come with being a liberal democracy, being members with the EU, and having open immagration within the union and of course it all comes back to the "island mentality" which is still prevelent in British politics and society. Yes a small percentage of the electorate may vote for the BNP in council elections (often viewed as an opportunity to use your vote as a protest vote), however whilst the the BNp continue to make school boy errors, their progress will continue to be checked. P.S- the fact that a number of deeply disillusioned people, with somewhat extreme rightwing views are so openly happy to embrace the party does act as double edge sword. The party has found it hard to tone down its agendas in the attempt to attract mass appeal, for fear of upsetting the core of the party-whom remain deeply and openly racist. I apologise if i make no sense. sleep deprivation

Hi Ant. Not suggesting it mate its fact that even the government are aware of.
Minimum wage and below and cash in hand is a scourge to most but a powerful tool when combating inflation.
The cockle pickers are a sad example of what this government are turning a blind eye to because it suits them.
None of the main parties have the ba**s to stand up and be counted over immigration concerns the indigenous people of these isles have.
That is why the BNP are growing stronger by the day.

I was under the impression that there are indeed jobs available for the indigenous people of these isles? A classic example would be eden vale-many people complain about the fact that most of the people who seem to work there are poles, but having spoken to other people, the jobs given to polish people, were advertised locally for over a year with virtually no take up. Jobs are there. As for cash in hand , fantastic idea makes life a lot easier:) I disagree, the BNP is not growing stronger by the day, its a bit like the international peace of the 1920s....an illusion

I think more people should open their eyes and drop the old 'I'm alright Jack' attitude. A few years ago it was mainly British workers in the low pay end of the economy who were finding themselves undercut but the flood of cheap migrant labour. Now it's tradesmen and local firms who are finding themselves being sidelined for eastern European workers. At the same time thousands of British jobs are being 'offshored' to India and eastern Europe. By offshoring as well as flooding the jobmarket with cheap migrant workers - this Labour government is screwing the British worker both ends.I know many people who've been affected by this -it's as much a problem in Shropshire as it is anywhere else in the country.
As for those who spout on about 'lazy British workers'' - How safe is your own job at the moment? There are very few workers who are irreplacable these days.
If the BNP are promising to put British workers first -then I can only see them getting stronger in the coming years.

Link------> BNP Website Below are just a few quotes that explain why I could never vote for the BNP. "when we speak of ‘British democracy' we do so in an ethnic as well as a civic sense. We do not accept the absurd superstition – propagated for different though sometimes overlapping reasons by capitalists, liberals, Marxists and theologians - of human equality" "We therefore believe that the myth that “we are all the same under the skin” will soon be as discredited" ".. we believe that it is far more likely than not that the historically established tendency (and we do not claim that it is any more than that) of the peoples of Western Europe in general - and of these islands in particular - to create and sustain social and political structures in which individual freedom, equality before the law, private property and popular participation in decision-making, is to some extent at least genetically pre-determined" After reading the Manifesto, there are (IMO) some disturbing trends in the language that the BNP uses. Tax policy, transport policy etc etc for me, are overshadowed by "We do not accept the absurd superstition.....of human equality" That is very scary. But.....I can see where the Labour/Tory/Lib Dems are failing, and the BNP are poised to fill in.

Didn't the BNP have a sikh to front their electron broadcast once, or have I got the wrong party? Yes they did -There's a suprisingly high number of black and Asian people who've said that they'll be voting BNP this year. I saw a clip on Sky news last week with a BNP canvasser knocking doors on a housing estate somewhere down south. Of the five houses he called on one person gave him the knock-back and the other four told him they'll be voting BNP -three of these people were Asian! Uncontrolled immigration has brought misery to millions in this country -black, white and Asian. Also Islamic hardliners have been allowed to grow powerful over the years - while both Labour and Conservative governments have lacked the guts to tackle this head on. Islam has a long bloody history -it's also responsible for about 90% of the conflicts in the world right now. There are few people better qualified than the Sikhs to give us an insight into the true nature of Islam- given the mass slaughter of the Sikh people at the hands of Islamists. So I suppose a Sikh gent on a BNP party political broadcast makes sense.

Having lived in and around London for over 20 years now I can see why the people are starting to turn to the BNP. I have lived in areas where being white I was in the minority group and you are treated like scum, ok this maybe a reaction to how the groups have been treated in the past.
I have worked in places that put up asylum seekers and eastern families, the husbands will not allow their wife’s to learn English. Also they will get a council house inside a year, if they are unlucky to wait that long normally it’s 6 months, where some one from this country has to wait 10 years.
Tesco’s in Milton Keynes has adverts in Poland for workers, ok the pay in minimum wage but they put them up in flats that Tesco’s owns, but will not do this for the English work force.
I do not support the BNP and I am not a racialist but I can see why a lot of people would vote for them.
