If were happy to stay in the Conf for the next 50 years then the Gay Meadow will do the job, but if we want to get back up into Div 2 where we ought to belong, then, very reluctantly, we've got to move with the times.
Watching at NM won't be the same as at GM, but unfortunately its the only realistic option if the club is to prosper again.

Now we know where we stand. Anybody taking ""the new Gm thrust "" is kwality. I thought I was on an adult site. Perhaps I should transfer to buckssh*t. So you want to stand still? You want to see the club go out of existance? Back in 95 when these new plans came out I was told by the then chairman in a meeting Ray Bailey that these plans will have problems...they do. Yes I did think Cuyahoga's post was "kwality", because it clearly shows I can understand humour. Transfer to Buckssh*t? perhaps its for the best!

Duncow mate, a lot of the time this board is about views rather than facts, that's what makes it such good fun. Clearly, you are not one to let facts get in the way of holding a view either.
By the way mate, I sit in the Wakeman stand and it is clear to me that the future of that club does not sit there. It sits in the family stand and stands on the terraces. And if you were to canvass their views, I'm sure they would be in favour of the move.
It's clear to me that:
a) to stay at Gay meadow would cost millions of pounds. b) we have no way of funding this c) if we want to compete as a full time league club, we will need to move to a new ground.
The Gay Meadow will ALWAYS be my favourite ever ground but still........
NEW MEADOW NOW

My last word on this particular thread , but I will be back on another one. Don't assume that you or I, will ever come anywhere close, as a supporter of this club, to the commercial aspirations of this club. We are, the fatted cow, put up with much, have frig all say,pay our money, and as often as you come and pay your money, will have absolutely no input into the running of YOUR cLUB
The umbrella club, despite it's best intentions, have a lot to learn

Welshshrew-- THe last post was was my second to last post. I've got a 6 year old son. Nothing remarkablle in that you may say. I'm 51 years old. Like most Dad's, I dream of my lad playing for the Town. Not in some shed in Sutton |Farm, but on THE GAY MEADOW. Call me daft if you like, old fashioned maybe, but a shrew supporter through and through .
Ps. I used to play in goal for Berriew during Pete Dolby's era in the 80,s. Happy times in Mid - Wales. Qualiity football-quality players.

We cant redevelop the Meadow to a satisfactory standard
This is because...
Wakeman School River Severn Railway Line Access to the Stadium
End of story.
The Gay Meadow is a quaint, beautiful picturesque, magnetic and welcoming place, but its getting old and antiquated.
If my memory serves me right, at the initial council meeting 3 years ago, ALL the councillors, even the ones against Ottley Road, accepted the impossibilities to improve the Meadow and the need to move on.

i for one would like the ground to stay where it is ,I bus it in From Telford X5,use a couple of local pubs and meet freinds and relations to go to the game, all part of the atmosphere and all very selfish reasons. But with the Club having cancelled so many fixtures over the years costing many thousands of pounds a solution has to found. The problem is the river.flood defences in the area will only deflect the water and cause more flooding. If you sell the Meadow to development that will effect the price you will get.I for one would like to see a flood free new stadium on the existing site,Lets make a stake in Tradition.
