there was a spot of sarcasm there! McGinley was awesome, just a shame after a season (and a bit) the board weren't able to offer him a contract! Maybe we would never have gone down in the first place if he'd stayed with us

Less than 10 months after McGinlay left he wanted to come back, The board wanted it, Bond told him to go away in jerking movements

I heard that Bury nearly doubled his money and we couldn't afford to offer him the same, and that after 6 months he wished he had never left. The man is a legend and the best striker i have seen in a Town shirt.

Sarcasm apart, how come the board were prepared to offer him money to come back 10 months later, when that was (as far as i was led to believe) the reason he left in the first place Although I can't remember where Bury were at that time, or had he already left for Bolton on the way up?

In all fairness there was probably a lot less chance him playing for Scotland whilst with Salop in Div 3, rather than with Bolton in Div 1(or 2?) Must have been an impossible dream for him just 3 or 4 years ealier with Elgin City

He went to Millwall after Bury.

If i remember right the bloke who financed Bury's plunge in the transfer market went bust and the club had to sell most of the best players.

points mean prizes everyone
they still get 3 even if they had won 2-1
I saw the first half of this match and the team we had under ratcliffe when we lost to luton in 2001-2002 would have also thrashed this team. Hereford were running, Daggers were standing still.
This is a crap league and we need to get out of it soonest.
What price would you give for a trophy final against exeter and a play off final against exeter
I found out today that the semi final of the trophy is over two legs. We are historically better than Telford..I hope they win... our only aim is to get back into the league.

Sorry Matt cant agree with that............
win every game you play in any sport.................. that breeds confidence..............
lose today the crowd will be at the players etc,etc...................
how in the name of God can you be a supporter and hope your team loses..............

'No thanks...Jimmy quinn is doing a better job than turner at Hereford, ok its nice to score 9 but its the 3pts that matter, Hereford are out of the race.'
Better job??!!
I wonder how the wage bills of the two clubs compare? Its a fair bet that yours is SIGNIFICANTLY bigger than ours. In fact there are probably 6 or 7 clubs paying bigger wages than us, probably more.
To be fair, Quinn hasn't done too bad, but with the more than considerable resources made available, he has not done great either.
As for the title, I can't see Chester slipping up, but we're certainly not giving up quite yet.

Well Stuttgarter- so Hereford and Graham Turner are the benchmark now are they- well if so I wonder my little pessimistic poster - how you would have reacted on this board with the Turner/Hereford track record over the last few years. Like Ratcliffe, Turner them out of the league so are you saying we should of kept Ratcliffe?? With a similar fan base Hereford have not managed to get back their league status in 5/6 years under Turner- so are you prepared to give Quinn as much time?? In fact I think one year Hereford nearly even got relegated from the Conference- wouldnt that prompt a few of your more lively threads if it happened to us?? And of course, this season those magnificent high scoring wins which you and the other pessimists would have soon forgotten in light of home defeats against Burton, Leigh and Tamworth- it would have been like last year on this message board"we are so inconsistent blah, blah, blah. Im with Kickin just to offset some of the negative nonsense that is spouted on here sometimes.

We may have a similar fan base, but the financial position was and still is completely different, and not of Turners doing.

Graham Turner is not only a Shrewsbury Town legend but a footballing legend. If he had the resources at Hereford that the Quinn Reaper had here Hereford would be further ahead than Chester are. He's done a terrific job at Edgar Street.
I would love to know why he walked away from the Wolves situation the way he did.

Because he couldnt cope with expectation that wolves should be in the first division, he knew they werent good enough so he left whilst he was on a high?
