O-Oh!! We're back on the clique thing! Well- I can only repeat what I've said before, regarding my experience- I was a new supporter, an unknown- and somewhat ashamed of being older! But people on this board have been lovely to me- and really enriched my life. The only contra-indication to being accepted, surely, is abusive and personal remarks. People should be able to air an opinion without being shot down in flames. (As long as THEY express that opinion politely, and not offensively. Verbal bullying is surely a no-no. ) Another thing, surely, is that, as with any other group of people, you have to learn from your mistakes, and be honest with yourself. If an aspect of the things you post is negative in any way, then it's better to learn and to "grow up" as a person. (I'm STILL "growing up", believe me- you're never too old to learn!! ) (For instance, I'm a lot more careful with my O/T topics nowadays. I know I can write a lot of self-indulgent rubbish at times!! So- I'm asking myself- is this relevant- or, if not- that is- off topic- will it either: (a) Make people laugh (Which is as good a motive as any- especially after a bad result!! That was the purpose of that silly "Hodnet Tarts" thread I posted.) (b) Invite interesting comments from others- (a "learning curve!") (c) Inform- or share something good- a good book, film or something. It's good to share that- or we'd have nothing to discuss in the closed season! I'm also learning more and more about the finer points of the game from others- and reading more about it; watching more on T.V, too. If no-one replies to a post, it doesn't mean it isn't good. There have been plenty of posts I've read, and enjoyed- but have had no relevant reply to offer. It's still a contribution- and welcome. I admit I did start to wonder if people were getting more critical than they used to be. The Jury's still out on that!!! I hope this is a bit helpful and not a load of rubbish!

Wrong again Shakey mate............... I bet I get more "last posts/ignored posts" than you and Dave put together................ I'm always talking to my shrink about it.............. he just tells me not to worry and as I am the leading expert on most things particularly STFC related how should I expect anything else? hows the shop doing by the way? ?

Sorry bit I think this clique talk is a load of bollox, it's all about getting outside your comfort zone, sticking your neck out and actually making the effort to make friends rather than moaning than no-one wants to be friends with you.
I've been a member for less than a year but due to posting on B&A i have found:
- A really good football team that values your input - Regular 5-a-side football with people off the board - Evenings where I get the chance to meet fellow posters - Another way of benefitting the club And mostly, a group of considerate and like minded friends who will rally behind you in times of need and help you if you need a hand.
If you want to make friends off here, you can. If you want to be part of a football match, you can, if you want to be involved with writing articles etc,you can, but you can only do this if YOU, yes YOU Mr. Guest get off your arse and make the effort.
You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.
